Others have from time to time mentioned use case as a useful criteria in choosing coins, but typically they seem to mean use to others or even use to the masses or to some demographic.
Assuming though that you yourself have any use yourself for any crypto, other than simply as some arbitrary useless garbage someone somewhere might pay you more for than it cost you to collect it from someone else's garbage-dump, I suggest choosing ones you yourself actually have a use for, so that if everyone else dumps it that is all the more for you, you are become whale, hooray, you finally managed to buy the whole kit-and-kaboodle thus now have an entire crypto of your own with which to pursue the usecases you actually have for it...
