We have created a new alt coin by cloning Litecoin and have a couple questions.  I have two Amazon VPS nodes up that connect to each other along with some VMs in office that form the start of the network.  We have a new blockchain started with a new genesis and new port numbers.  The only seeds in the code are the VPS servers.

First question, I have set the POW a bit low as suggested by some guides but it is mining blocks way to fast, sometimes more than 1 per minute instead of the 2.5 target.  Is it only the POW variable that is causing this or lack of initial transactions so it completes the block early?

Second, I checked the VPS nodes last night and there were about 5 more nodes with public unknown IPs connected.  Along with that, the blackchain is showing WAAY more coins have been mined than should be.  100k+ Which is part of the first question issue but that would suggest someone else is mining it since mine are all off since I was going to wipe them all and start over once some more work is done on the coin.  I checked out github traffic and we have had a handful of visits but the number of clones matches about how many times I have done it while testing.  How else could other nodes find and connect to ours if the broadcast message, genesis, and ports were changed?
