I would not do it even if I'm a high roller because I'll always be myself when it comes to gambling as I'm a type of gambler who like to bet low but hunting for big odds.
Of course any gambler has its own way how to gamble and maybe that's how above player like to do in his entire gambling activity (risking huge for small profit).
Another possibility is that above player is on his way for chasing wager for VIP program benefits (can be for level up, can be for other bonuses).
I have seen similar case but not on sports betting, I've seen some players bet big amount on dice game or other games with low HE but they are playing with low odds (1.02-1.1x).

No, if I don’t know the game or don’t have any knowledge about the match. —Yes, if I have some understanding of the match. I don’t rely on or follow bets in the high rollers’ tab, as I consider it a trap or a possible decoy set by the casino to influence you to follow their bets.
I always rely on my own decisions when it comes betting on these kinds of odds, especially if the bet is  let’s say, all-in for me.

This is pure gambling. I would not go for it. Why? Because I am poor.
I can do crazy things like following a parlay with x1000+ odds and I will bet a low amount of money just to see how it goes. But, I will never go as far as $10 in my sports betting. My craziest bet was $8 and I never go way beyond that. I don't want my wife to punch me in the face for gambling that kind of amount because money is still important to us, especially with the mortgage and all the bills.
These gamblers who bet a high amount may have the funds to afford it and there's a possibility it's a group of people who chipped in to make that amount and gamble it for small profits. I would not recommend this to anyone, even a high chance of wins can lose just like your example.

no due to one reason only and it’s I do not have $100,000 to bet.  

That alone is enough reason for me to never consider doing this. the fact that if i lose this $100,000, my life will turn upside down is enough for me to stay away from betting such crazy amounts and the pay out is not even worth all that in my opinion.

maybe it’s more of an ego thing. you have a $100,000 to waste and if you win you it’s an ego boost but if you lose it’s also nothing it doesn’t affect your life and that is only if you are rich

I know a lot of people do go for that type of games, they bet huge and usually are multi tickets of 2 or more games and the odd rarely is over 3 in total which suggest that these guys want to lower their risk as much as possible when gambling. There was a time when I thought to myself why not copy their bets and I did so only to find out massive lost amount of tickets from my side by following these bets, these people were betting like a minimum of 2000 or more dollars per bet and I thought these must have more wins than lost tickets, the reality was completely different though and I never do this anymore, I can better find myself 2 or 3 games with a total odd of 3 or more and place my bets which would be a better choice. I think this is where casinos make a lot of money from high rollers losing most of their tickets.

I have been betting for many year ago. Even slightly more than 10 years ago. I have gambled and bet like an addicted person before. If you look for better ways to make money from gambling, there would be a time you will want to try just exactly this. But trust me, it is a big trap and not good at all because you will notice that you may win very well but a two or three losses will make all your wins and money that you put into it gone. Gambling sites knows this and the reason for the odd.

I think its not $100,000 Im sure its not a $ sign too. but if it is, then surely this guy is a high roller and that money could be a tiny amount for him. Betting $1.4 M or the odds of 1.02 means he is betting sure to win, he was just unfortunate that it was an upset. Somehow it doesn't make sense to bet $1000 with a potential win of $20.

If I am rich and would want easy money I think I would be doing all these as well to make $28K. A high win requires us to wage bigger.

There's a few different possibilities here, but the first and most obvious one is: Don't believe everything you read. Remember that these bets are presented on a gambling site as "real" but they can very easily be faked to give the impression that there are some high rollers willing to spend a lot of money and that could encourage others to jump in, or at the very least give an illusion of activity. Then there are other options, maybe it is a genuine high roller that fancies spending a bit of pocket change while thinking that these are relatively safe bets that they believe will win. There is also the option that these are favorable "offset" bets where a bookmaker is looking to cover some of the risk on a bet so gives favorable odds to a contact in order to keep their book in shape.

I'm not a high roller, but even if I were, I couldn't take this kind of risk. Aside from the amount being relatively high to be staked in one single bet, another thing too is the odds and the potential winning amount. If you ask me, it's not worth me risking that amount. I know the chances of winning are high, but still, gambling is gambling, and winning is under probability.

Different gamblers have their own pattern of gambling and the length to which they can take risks, but this is not me; it could be the player's pattern, and it has been favouring him, but out of 5 games, if he loses just one, among all the losses to be recorded, it will be massive.

All it takes is 1 loss on 100 tries for you to not be in profit and believe me, in sports that 1 loss can happen. I wouldn't really want to take the risk, at least not for big money. I bet a couple moneylines in basketball this week that had low odds, they weren't 1.01 but the were under 1.20. 1 was the Suns vs Charlotte which normally should be an easy Suns win. Well Charlotte won. The other was Boston vs Sacremento, same thing Boston shit the bed. Just not worth risking large amounts on what feels like a sure win but is not a guarantee.

I kmow people who do this and it always works until it doesnt.  And it takes just one loss to lose your stack and make any small wins erased.  I dont like this method because it requires you to never lose to make it remotely worth it.  Nothing is a sure bet, upsets happen all the time.  To each their own just not for me.

Everybody must not always accept the same strategy in sport betting while gambling, and that doesn't make any bad or not, because on the contrary, we have got 3 distinctive categories of gamblers, namely the high, Average and low stakers. And likewise as a  high stakers, it is still also decided into two different categories also, namely those who stake high on high risk games and also those who stake high on low risk game just as the user who made that bet O.P provided in the discussion above.

But to be frankly speaking, if I have millions in my bank account, I can boldly stake over 100,000 on a bet with 1.012 odds to make extra 12,000 profit, but that can only be on matches that I'm very familiar with their pattern of play.

As a gambler is actually good to invest our funds in low odds games rather than investing on a high odds games. when you put your funds on a low odds games your possiblity of winning would be very high, because to predict a big odd that would bring winnings to you with big amount is always difficult to predict. But when you predict a small odd with big amount you would stand in a better chance of winning than losing, although we know that gambling is a game of luck.

I was added to a telegram group recently and the guys over there are betting crazy in the pattern of betting most especially on sports betting, They tend to pick low odds like 1.01 or 1.10 odds and stake a high amount on it, and some of them have had really bad experiences from this and we can't say for sure why they get in that line of betting in highly unpredictable sports games.


The assurance of winning with low odds is not there and at that risking such a huge amount of those games is killing me unprofessional, but any way gambling has no professionalism so for sure the high rollers will always go for such a bet.

Never bet at low odds [1.02 - 1.11] in large amounts because it will not be worth it when losing, it will hurt to see low odds but lose because it should win above 80%.

Like yesterday's Liverpool match in the FA Cup with low odds, I will not bet with the amount because I don't dare, especially with a small amount of profit will not be felt.

Most like odds of at least 1.40 rather than below that unless entered into a parlay.

I can't tell from the picture what kind of currency this is? However, I believe you that this is a large sum. Losing a bet on odds of 1.01 is of course crazy, I'm sure this bet was made to earn a wager but turned into such a huge loss.
I have made such bets in dice, they make no sense anywhere else. In dice such bets are interesting because you can make hundreds of bets in a short time and quite quickly face a loss against the odds of 1.01. In betting, bets with such odds are even worse than bets with odds of 1.3-1.5, since you don’t actually feel the win but risk losing everything.
