recently i went into a billiards place and noticed that the kids of the owners were there playing in a table as well this got me thinking whether this is an appropriate environment for these kids to be at

If the place doesn’t include gambling and people just play for fun then, Yes. But if it’s a place people gamble then I wouldn’t advice them to be seen there since they’ll most likely pick up the gambling habit from the place so it’s not okay to allow kids to play there.

I generally don’t have any problem with kids playing billiards the only issue is when you start mixing them with those that bet things; when the kids see that there could win something if they bet they might be tempted to try it out themselves and that’s how gambling starts.

Billiard is considered a sport,  I don't think there is something wrong with that. Them starting early I sport makes them better at it. There professional billard players who started playing when they are yet kids.

I am assuming people are gambling in this sports too. But then the sports like they said is for entertainment and teaches these kids sportsmanship.

There are some games that have existed before people turn it to gambling or before kids will grow up to know that people can actually gamble with it. I have been playing dice since I was a kind because it is a very common game in my country among families and friends. I only knew that people can gamble with dice when I was in school. I mean to gamble with it among friends and people generally. I was older than 24 years old before I saw dice on a gambling site.

As said above, billiards is just a game, even a sport. I fondly remember myself playing with my dad when I was a child; he wasn't very good at it, but it didn't matter, those were really good moments that I miss (we get older).

If the environment in the pool is good, then I don't think it has anything negative to let children play. But we all know locals where illegal competitions take place, and children should avoid the contact with these circles because they learn what they see.

We have the greatest billiard player of all time, and he started at a young age, and many billiard players started young.
We have a lot of billiard halls in our country, and we consider it a sport because its included in our regional Olympics. As long as the parents are there and they are guiding their kids, I don't see anything wrong here. billiard is not an easy game; its takes a lot of years to hone and perfect your shot, and maybe the parents are preparing their kids that early and they start by getting familiar with the atmosphere.

This issue is a little bit complicated to me since these children can learn skills staying around the environment. While growing up, it is common to see children hang around table tennis boards where gambling also takes place. I usually go to these places and that was how I learned how to play table tennis. Although it exposed me to gambling I didn't I started gambling.

I am an advocate of non-exposure of children because they are easily hooked on it. That's why I am against gambling advertisements close to schools where the underaged are. I suggest that these children shouldn't be allowed to see these gambling activities. Maybe they could have a separate billiard where their age mates can play.

Billiards is not a gambling game. I played it quite a lot a long time ago, because there was a billiard table (in the recreation room) where I worked. Well, you know, some organizations have tennis tables, but we had billiards there. It's a very interesting game. There is no randomness there, there is the only skill. So there's nothing wrong with this game, and by the way, billiards can help children better understand physics, motion vectors, and even the laws of reflection.

By the way, there was a crisis in the country's economy at that time, and it was difficult to even buy a new cue. So we put these soft plastic (probably polyethylene) wine corks on the old cues and played like that. Or they were corks from some kind of alcohol-based medicine that was also drunk.. This immediately complicated the game, but it protected the cues from bad players, so that they would not tear the cloth on the table and generally not break the tip of the cue so much. After several months of playing with such a cue, I came on vacation, and there is a billiard room. Well, with a regular cue after the one with the cork, it's so easy to play that I rolled almost all the balls in a row into the pockets, I still remember.

Other children are likely not allowed there but these children were permitted to be in this place that is inappropriate for them simply because they are the children of the owners. It is an Inappropriate environment for a child to be in but the owner is completely ignorant about this because even though their intention is to babysit most likely their children and keep them close they are not doing them a good thing by exposing them to this gambling environment especially from that very young age.

Even if it is the intention of the owner to have his children around his workplace, he can have an area in this his gambling setup organized especially for children away from the gambling environment so that the children do not get exposed to gambling equipment from curiosity. So instead of the children occupying a billiard board they should have a separate special room where they can stay safely.

Billiard is considered more of a sport or recreational activity, rather than seen as a gambling game. However, since some players find it boring without money wagering, then here comes gambling. When that happens, then it wouldn’t be safe or appropriate place for kids anymore. These kids will be exposed to such noise and different gamblers behaviors, which isn’t appropriate at their young age. And one more thing, usually these billiards players are also smoking, so it’s certainly unsafe for kids and minors health.

I don't know if in your country billiards is considered a sport or is it more heavily linked to gambling, I have often seen children aged 7 years and over taking part in billiards tournaments, At my place the children playing billiards are supervised by a committee or an adult, regardless of whether they are gambling/placing bets there or not.

Apart from billiards, there is also a chess tournament which is specifically for children aged 7 years and over, it is also supervised, whether those you see are supervised by their parents or run by themselves, but if we talk about the environment basically I haven't seen children go to the pool hall andplay there, unless there is a parent supervising him, because as far as I know, those who are adults are allowed to enter the billiard hall, perhaps other areas have billiard rules in other areas.

But if the kid goes alone to the pool hall and some people place bets there, it's clear that's not where he should be.

Well, if they are doing it for fun i don't see what's the problem, when i was a child i used to bet at school, we bet the FIFA and Pokemon cards, the game was simple, flip the card and you win it. And there was other kind of betting games like marbles, the winner kept the loser's marbles.

I mean, kids doesn't bet for profit, they bet for toys and that makes the game funnier, i don't see anything wrong with this.

It's a sport, don't think about the betting side of it yet.

I just bought my kids a mini billiard table and I never heard them bet about anything. Now, if they playing against the owner, it's up to that person if he is evil enough to bet against the kids. Now, if he just wants them to play and enjoy billiards then there's no problem at all.
Again, let's not forget this is a good sport and it can be played indoor. I bought it so that my kids would avoid using their phones because it's like 24/7 their eyes are glued into it.
I am a traditional father, I want them to feel the competitive spirit of sports.

I don`t see problem here. Billiard is a wonderful game and it would be nice if the kids will play good. The same time, i don`t think that they play with the bets. And as i know about my city - just few percent play for money, the main part play for free or with some symbolic bet - $1-2, just for interest.
PS. When i was a kid, we played football with bets but i don`t think that we must prohibit football. Also, i can`t name even one our player, who became gambling addict.

Even here in my country this game is really popular and I guess its the management or the owner will be accountable with this part because they are the one who must check with their clients, there are really stubborn kids really want to disobey the rules of their players could be peer pressure or base on themselves so they would like to explore but as long as they aren't addicted in playing billiards with bet I guess personally they still can freely play, still this is we considered as a sports so nothing wrong but still must need to consider the age limit by the owner. As for their safety too in that age they must be still in school.

Hmm, it's just billiards, I think it's fine? Billiards itself is an interesting activity anyway and tying it down with gambling is personally a, well, personal decision, not really a "natural" type of thing, unlike poker and dice which is almost always 100% associated with gambling. And who knows? The kids may have some skill for billiards. While it is a niche sport, there are highlights sometimes that get revealed to the world that just make people go wtf most of the time, like the magician for example.

For me I don't see anything wrong if they are playing billiards game. If they are playing it for fun then there is no problem, but it becomes a problem when they start betting with it. Although there is a high chance of getting used to playing billiards for money i.e (betting) because playing such game in billiards place where guys often gamble with it may trigger them to follow suit. Except they have self control or being monitored by there parents, otherwise they might pretend not to gamble with it in front of their father, and bet when their father is not around or they might learn it and gamble with it outside.

They can play billiards in that place. They will not trying to gambling who will be the winner unless they have that intention before they go to in that place. We even don't know what their reason to play billiards and we may think that they have the same intention like adult people who want to spends their free time. But I guess that is not usual if those young boys play billiards because most young boys will do other things with their friends. You can watch them play to know what they talks so you will know what is their reason to play billiards with their friends.

Billiards is just a sport and there is nothing criminal about the fact that there are children there, I have seen fathers with children there several times and I did not even have the thought that this could be a bad example for them. Billiard rooms are different, there are those where they drink alcohol, smoke and place bets, and there are those where families come. In this case, everything depends only on the parents and where they bring their children.

Already we knows the implications that surround kids going around gambling environments or involve showing themselves around their casinos as their parents owns it. I think there has been lots of discussion about children around casinos and how they shouldn't be allowed to move round within the environment where they are gambling, and yes, it's something unavoidable because we know kids knows lot of things and even though we decides to hide things from them we can't stop from doing it when they have their own space or even when they aren't within our noticed they can still get involved.
