Government cannot make progress without a proper check of revenue generation,it is no longer a joking matter when it comes about the impacts REVENUE GENERATION has brought to a country or state as the case maybe.I could remembered vividly during the administration of our former president ie OLUSEGUN OBASANJO,there was a misunderstanding between the federal government and the Lagos state government which the outcome was disastrous,the state allocation was ceased,but throughout the administration the state was still running well.
On this note,i have come to realization that,government revenues generation is something we cannot overemphasize because of it benifits.

It is not only about crooks within the government, it is also a problem on how tax is collected and who pays for the state to continue to function in the way it is supposed to. Sure, Crooks in any government are going to create a biggest deficit in the administration, taking money which would have otherwise been used to keep social programs, build infrastructure and take care of the sick, but in the case of the United States, the huge deficit will continue to be in place as whether there are crooks in the Trump administration or not.
I am not much of a bettor on the performance of administrations, but I think there must be a handful of crooks already in the white house and in the federal government.

Off course Government revenues are very helpful as it boosts an economic growth of well managed. Government revenues when properly collected  and managed in the state will be very very impactful to the state. Revenues are ment to for projects development such as; building of schools, hospital, market places, civic centers, roads amongst other social amenities that will better the life's of citizens and lead to the growth the economy at large.

Revenue's maybe are to be monitored and accounts given  by the government to the masses as it seems as if the expectations from theses revenue when collected are not visible or seen in terms of works to be done by the government. The masses are most times discouraged to pay as there are no evidence of the money they pay to government as taxes amongst other forms to the government as revenue. But if these revenues are used for what they are ment for the masses will pay happily as they are seeing what the funds are been used for and they are partaking in the benefits of these projects.

a system of governance that seeks to submit all the allocation that is generated by each state and local government to the federal government and only pays peanut to those at the grassroot that generate such revenue will always want to paint a scenario that the government at the state level cannot function independent of the federal government when in the real sense that is never the case. 

if the states is given the expected autonomy that allows them to manage their resources, every state will effectively handle her needs without waiting for funding from the federal government. of cause, government revenue comes mainly from the state and is what helps in the running of the government, allow the state fund itself through the taxes that the state generate, and you will see a more productive state governance than what is the case with the the having to depend on what the federal government sends as allocation to the state.

Government revenues are used to fix the financial demands and obligations of a country, without generating revenues there's no how a country can function uptimaly. The armed forces and social amenities depends on government revenues to get fundings, without sources to generate income in a country, it will become vulnerable to external influences and attacks. The problem is that politicians and government officials take advantage of loopholes in the systems to embezzle funds that are meant to run the economy and provide social amenities. This is why third world countries are so much dependant on foreign aid to survive, even the aid are mismanaged leaving the ordinary citizens worse off.

Corruption is a big problem but another challenge is the over-reliance of crude oil revenue. Nigeria used to be a nation where almost all the regions were self-reliant. Each state exploited the natural resources at its disposal and used it for development. After the discovery of crude oil, almost all the states abandoned the exploration of natural resources in their location and solely depended on the revenue allocation they got from the federal government. The internally generated funds of these states dropped drastically and many of them will not survive without the monthly allocation they get from the central government from the sale of oil and gas.

From the chart, it is obvious that the states depend heavily on the federal government, instead of avenues to increase internally generated revenue.
