I think OP is being a bit dramatic, we are not at some kind of world ending event. Inflation is higher than normal, the cost of living is high but we are not all going to die. Please stop panicking people, if there is a big recession, it will bring down prices & cause a general reset which might not actually be a bad thing.

I know the economy is getting pretty bad and the government of some countries want to milk all the resources and money they are supposed to be used to develop the country but let's be positive I do think that with time if the government of the country and the citizens work together to cultivate more to improve the economy, to reduce inflation then the future will be safe.

But if not it might not be funny because even currently some people struggle to feed one square meal and that one square meal is not even a balanced diet it's not nutritious enough so I get what the author is saying but maybe he's saying it with anger.

Politicians are already going with convey of armed men for security because the people are impoverished by their self centered policies to better their businesses. It is a pity that the economic realities are really biting households, no jobs in different countries especially the third world countries leading to massive brain drain in those countries as love ones leave their families for greener pastures elsewhere.

No, this is not going to happen. Inflation is up and food prices have skyrocketed but it will not become a luxury. Even the most corrupt governments have made it possible for this not to ever happen. They usually have some kind of food security program.

You may be judging and seeing things from around you, how available land for agriculture is dwindling, and the number of persons with interest in agriculture is also reducing as well. World trade has made this situation you describe less likely to happen because, in some other parts of the world, there is still a lot of land available for agriculture and a lot of people with an interest in it as a major occupation. Agricultural produce can simply be transported to countries that need them.

They may become expensive due to the cost of importation, but I doubt they become luxury.

I don't know, but perhaps some people in some countries are forced to eat such things due to poverty and lack of resources. Although eating insects is normal in some countries, here in my country, people wouldn't eat these things even if they died of hunger.

Food and food production will always exist. Some people will eat the best food, some will only eat food to satisfy their hunger. OP seems to be under a lot of stress.
I would like to remind him that don't worry, you won't starve. As inflation gets worse, food prices are increasing, that's inevitable, but there is always food.
Artificial, unreal foods can also be produced in the future, there is still time for that, we can't predict how everything will turn out.

Real food is already a luxury good nowadays. If you want to consume high quality food made from pure raw materials, you have to be a wealthy person.

I heared these days chocolate isn't chocolate anymore, because cocoa is just too expensive for industries to acquire. So what we eat is simply fat. Chocolate is a luxury item for a small percentage of society.

The same goes with oliver oil, coffee powder, cheese from different kinds, and so on. However, people aren't hunting anyone down, and it doesn't look like they will, unlike OP claims. Probably most people don't even notice quality of food going down.

It's a world of blind fools after all. The few who can notice these things just have to seek for better life quality without expecting anyone else to awake. The truth is that, in my country, farmers don't need much money to start producing agricultural foods, they only need land, that's all

The poor are mostly the farmers because that's what they fall on to when things aren't going properly because it's the cheapest field that can sustain them and their family without stress and much money. Infact, agriculture is the starting point of every human to have in order to think about the next investment plan.

Food has not been a problem in our modern times. The problem is greed. People would rather throw 100s of tons of food away every day rather than lower their prices or I daresay, give the food away for free. And that is what is happening. Prices are being inflated artificially by greedy corporations. Even our gargantuant supply of clean water is being hoarded by the rich because our current laws allow them to do so. Look at what Nestle is doing, for example.

You seem to have watched a few too many sci fi and dystopian future movies lately, might want to cut that back a bit. That being said, climate change is a real thing and the way that we're heating up the planet is going to cause some unpredictable outcomes when it comes to weather which most food crops rely on. Unless we can bring that food manufacturing indoors and potentially protect it, then we might far that droughts and floods will have a dire affect on food supplies. That always means the poorest suffer first and places like Africa are going to suffer before the rest of the world. Europe and North America are going to be affected last, but the least fortunate in those countries will find their money stretches to buy less and less food over time.

Look, people are super creative - we always figure stuff out when things get tough.  It has happened over and over in history.  Makes me think we would find a way around only having crickets for dinner or something and  sure, maybe some folks would be okay just accepting it but I dont see everybody going down without a fight.  The way I see it, it kinda sells humanity short, you know? The economy is bad, not to an extend people can’t afford their daily bread, op stating an obvious fact doesn’t mean affording food will be that difficult. Besides the government is available and what most of this country do when suffering from inflation, hardship and hunger they create a protest campaign so the government should know and come to their aid. Sorry to say but things like this still happen especially when the country is underdeveloped, economy development becomes a problem no doubt, definitely whenever food price increases people always find other source to handle this kind of situation.

Great argument but its been made before in the seventies it was estimated many common commodities including food would expire vs gigantic rise in world population.    They were right on the population growth, partly as we can cure disease far better then before but they were wrong to underestimate human ability to provide supply.

Agriculture has alot of positives in its favor, I would never take it for granted as crops can fail but I dont take the pessimistic outlook when if anything humans produce less then they are able as the price is not there to pay for the production.    Food might become alot more expensive is a far more reasonable projection, I think its possible certainly with inflation we've seen regularly.

I guess it depends on where you live, but it's hard to imagine people will hunt the rich in my area because they're hungry. Don't get me wrong, food prices definitely rise, but it's not like people have to buy luxurious foods to eat. I can eat decently for less than $10/day, but that's not enough if I moved to another city. I bet we'll see more people moving to rural areas and making a living digitally before we see people hunting each other for food.
