Gambling is wider than betting. Betting is narrow down to sports prediction. "I bet you on this, this group will win". That is a prediction and betting can also be used in gambling. Just like gambling is the general or the common noun for all. I have seen many people even in this local board don't know di different between investment and trading. And when of the big difference between Trading and Inventing is that while trading is synonymous to requiring an individual has high level of skills before he/she can be able to master it effectively to trade and start seeing profits. The reason some people called trading as gambling is because of the risks it has. Trading is very risky to the extent that almost all traders are losing. In my opinion, both of the two options need you to have the basic and or advance knowledge of them and not just trading alone. The reason why much training emphasis are posed on the trading aspect is because trading is short termed and likewise it's damage can be so heartbreaking and quick to experience so because of this you will need to acquire a solid knowledge on trading while not ignoring to learn investments too if you intend to venture into it. Although when you compare the difference in the risk taking of both options, you will choose the investment option above the trading option because it gives you less risk and less losses especially if you practice the DCA approach.

This is very clear and would clear lots of misunderstanding as they are used in the wrong context. Like you have mentioned, betting in general specifies on sports(football, basketball, baseball,etc) and shouldn't be misunderstood with gambling.
