under ten watts a th.

it is three phase 400 volts. commercial mining for sure.

I wonder if the air cooled will do the same 9.5 watts a th.

impressive they are under 10 watts.

All depends on the specs for the pump in it. Oddly enough that site make no mention of the rather critical specs for pressure and flow rate. Should add that so far Bitmain has not given those specs nor the permissible coolant ΔT for the miner either...

he may need software to down clock

if 2 pull 11 kwatts against a perfectly working 12k radiator

it is likely that it would work better clocked to 9.5 kwatts

so it may be a downclocking software is needed to do 2 on that 12kwatt cooler.

bitmain gear always seems better if you take 5-15% off the full speed setting

This will not work on 2x Asic miners will support only one , i belive theoretically it could but you would need 2 loops as if you would push hot water from one miner into second the second would overheat.

I also thought that connecting ASICs in series would be a bad idea.
Where I saw pictures of similar cooling systems that were made by garage craftsmen. It turned out much cheaper from an old car radiator and a fan.

This is real beast . This will push profitability on the other level. But on the other side Bitmain is dictating prices so you are pretty much at the same Smiley. We will see. I watched whole release conference. They were talking hours about hydro that hydro is hydro and need to be special attention made but not too much relevant information just vague general talk for 2 hours without giving too much information.

My s21xps do 277th same power use so this is just 318/277 =  1.148 -1 =

0.148 gain if I upgrade  14.8% is not much.

What is interesting is how much better the hydro cooled one is .

A guy with a container that has 240 volt 1 phase will need a complete rewire  and a hell of a lot of hyrdo gear.

In a way it favors a fresh start up mine. As they do not need to retool wiring and cooling.

9.5 watts  hydro cooled s23xp  vs 13.5 watts air cooled s21xp

When i first heard about it in Vegas I was a shocked to see sub 10 W/TH. From a technical standpoint definitely impressive. I always expected Moore's Law wouldn't hold at *some* point due to quantum tunneling and other physical limits, but it seems like we're just not there yet.

Now it does seem to me that capital in mining really does flow primarily to the manufacturers and bitmain in this sense i think plays dirty to keep an unfair advantage in the marketplace. Their position of privilege due to the scale of being the early front-runner may be warranted, but I was told that they pushed Whatsminer out of the TSMC so that MicroBT was forced to go to samsung which does not have the same quality chips as TSMC. This imo makes it all the more impressive that whatsminer is able to compete given they are working with inferior chips... they make up for it with better board and chip design (I suppose).

So on the one hand, impressive that Bitmain keeps pushing these physical limits, but on the other it does feel like there are some anti-trust issues that don't allow for truly fair competition. Would be great to see some public pressure on TSMC to allow Whatsminer to source from them. Not sure where Auredine's chips are coming from, anyone know?

In any case, these new models do re-instantiate a prisoner's dilemma, where Bitmain is the prison guard and us miners are the prisoners constantly choosing selfishly (buy new machines) drive difficulty up and our profits down, instead of collaborate and boycott new machines (ridiculous premise i know, but theoretically...). We're just driving each other more and more to the brink and all the pubco's just play fiat games, diluting their shareholders and crowding us out, until the music stops and they can't keep up the charade anymore or move pivot to AI... in any case next halving will be v interesting. As a miner, i'm terrified...

9.5 watts a th and a complete redesign of your infrastructure.

Leave your single phase 240 volt gear.

Make sure you have 410 volt three phase
make sure you have liquid cooling radiator setup

And you go from 13 watts to 9.5.

New  gear 9000 plus the infrastructure.

Old gear s21 xp 6400 keep the infrastructure.

Also wait from now til Feb to get new gear.

The gain in hash would be a lot

Say 9500th is now 13000th

You would have 3500 th more

Or 3500x.06=210  a day for that upgrade

The up grade would be 13000/515=25 new units

Or 25x9000=225,000 paid in new gear to get 210 a day more that is 225000/210=1,071 days to pay for the upgraded gear.

Next the new infrastructure is over 50,000 which is 250 more days.

So upgrading from s21xp air to s23 liquid take 1320 days to break even if btc pays the current six cents a th

If you are writing about ASICs with hydrocooling, then look at the engineers' reviews about them. The quality of standard containers is not the best, and after several serious mistakes, engineers come to the conclusion that they need to make their own solutions.

When you say 'the quality of standard containers is not the best,' do you mean like prefab Bitmain antboxes or similar hydro containers, dry coolers/heat exchanger or like the chassis of the miner itself?

Where would I go to see engineer reviews you mention?

Also anyone here have info on the chip specs for the S23 or any more details about hashboard/power supply design?

I will tell you the experience of Russian miners who have been mining on air-cooled ASICs for a long time, and then bought several containers from Bitmain.
As a result, when they encountered shortcomings and problems with spare parts, which are also very expensive, they made their own analogue, spare parts for which they bought in ordinary construction and plumbing stores. And the controllers were also found in their country, and in the end it turned out much cheaper, better quality and most breakdowns can be fixed with the help of a good plumber or electrician Cheesy
And the most important thing is that there is no dependence on the equipment supplier. Spare parts in any plumbing, construction, or electrician store.

I would not do liquid mining as I do not trust bitmain and the quality of the gear they make.

They run them too hard push too much energy into them. The gear does not last in general.

Fixing and setting up liquid cooling would be a whole new learning curve for me and I am not that interested in that.

I am slightly overpaying a host in Iowa which gives me zero workload to mine.

But no work and I guy I can trust is a big deal for me.

I run 8 s21 xp's and 1 L7 with him.

I make a few bucks this way. All legal and no workload.

philipma1957, in Russia miners make liquid cooling for air-cooled models themselves, which give little profit. With water cooling, you can overclock the ASIC or use a ready-made solution of several ASICs instead of a heating boiler. You can get free heating.
