A lot of people are relying on Telegram messenger for sending  anonymous messages, but in the end it is not so anonymous as most people think it is.

It uses ID's that could compromise its users anonimity. I think more people should be aware of this, specially when sending sensitive information.

Quote
At the same time Telegram’s marketing heavily relies on claiming Telegram is “heavily encrypted.” It is hard to see this as anything but misleading. It puts people using the service in danger, by making them think they are communicating in an end-to-end encrypted manner when they are not – something I had witnessed myself in the context of people doing sensitive work.

the thing about a centralised platform over praising its "end to end encryption" is that although no third party can snoop in on/intercept the messages mid transport..
.. telegram is the app maker. the app creates the keys so the telegram company can get the keys.
also they handle the handshaking procedure of the encryption set up.. so yes telegram can access your messages.. just not third parties intercepting message

After the French authorities arrested the CEO of telegram, it was made clear to me that a lot of privacy issues would erupt from telegram. Even the Russian leaders told their citizens to delete all valuable information from the platform because they suspected that France wants to peep into people's private chats and information.

You can use SimpleX or Jabber if you're looking for private messaging systems.
SimpleX does have E2E encryption by default and you won't need to provide any info like email, phone number or anything. There is even a Bitcointalk bot running on SimpleX by the way. Smiley

From my side, I will still prefer emails + PGP but of course it's not as convenient as apps like SimpleX.

Well I do think there is alot of scammers on telegram. I do not like to use this because I already did get scammed from it. I do think it was my own faults for getting scammed.

But now there is scammers that all they want to do is go onto it and try to scam funds from people. If I want to talk to some people I will use a other way to do that.

For me SimpleX best! it is designed to maximize privacy by eliminating user IDs, minimizing metadata exposure, decentralizing infrastructure, and employing strong encryption. What else would you ask for it)

Yup. End to end just means nobody can intercept it as it travels between the two, but encryption doesn't matter if you've got some sort of keylogger or spyware on your device. They're even commercially available these days with many parents buying them to "monitor" their child's phone usage, but even adults are now using them to nefariously spy on their partners.
