electrum transaction won't sign

I'm unable to sign a transaction. My Ledger and Electrum wallet are current and I've cleared my Ledger Live cache
 but to no avail. Suggestions?

What did you do exactly?
Are you trying to make transaction with electrum or ledger live?
Did you get any error when trying to make transaction?

I think we need more information about your issue.

Is the hardware wallet recognized?
Do you get some error during signing a transaction on Electrum?
Is your Ledger updated to the latest firmware?

If Ledger do not work even on Ledger live then possible it's a connection issue or maybe it's using old firmware you need to update it to the latest firmware.

No, it's about the connection between your Ledger and Electrum.
Could be a software or hardware issue.

You can try to update your Ledger Nano S' "Bitcoin (BTC)" App using Ledger Live if it's not in the latest version before attempting to spend from Electrum
Or switch USB port and/or cable.

But the symptoms aren't consistent based on your recent and previous replies, perhaps it's something hardware related.

This is a lot... and very confusing to read.

Do you mean the firmware is updated to the latest version?
Do you mean you're using Electrum v4.5.8?

Do you mean you now have Zero balance? Does Electrum now shows a "local" transaction that you may have saved after being unable to sign?
If so, you can right-click on it to remove it from your transaction history.

The logs may show the underlying issue.
You may enable Electrum's logs in: "Tools->Preferences->Misc->Write logs to file" (restart Electrum as prompted)
Then, reproduce the issue and close Electrum.

You'll find the log file in "logs" folder inside Electrum datadir (location), the last session should have the latest timestamp.
You may snip parts that you do not want to share like computer username, etc.

What I meant is all the firmware is the latest as is Electrum - v4.5.8. When i click on send it flashes a yellow triangle that says 'read error.' Any idea what that is? And yes, it now shows a zero balance in my wallet which suggests the transaction was initiated but still incomplete.

I will try your other recommendations and report back.

Care to explain in more detail what solved your issue OR did it self-heal? What of the advise given did the trick for you?

Some users cared to help you, I wonder why you don't care to present the solution if you know it, because this might help other users who could be in the same situation as you were.

Additionally you could pay more attention to Unofficial list of (official) asktom.cf rules, guidelines, FAQ because you broke rule #32 twice in your topic.

It looks like he already noticed the mistake he made. What I guess is that he didn't know how to sign a transaction or this is his first time; the triangle or read error might be because he didn't confirm it on the ledger device.
On the screen there are two options there, and maybe he pushes the left button to decline the transaction that shows a yellow triangle or read error on Electrum.
Or possibly it's just a cable issue; replacing it with a different cable should fix this issue.

Would you get a read error when the Ledger Nano NoNo S is still locked? I don't use Ledger crap^{an never will} and thus am just guessing plausible explanations. Electrum likely won't be able to talk to the Ledger hardware but I would assume Electrum would detect a locked device or give another error indication in such a case. But I'm not sure.
