I must say that this took a long time coming from a service that prioritize user privacy... but it's finally here. After an online petition with over 1000 signatures, the general manager (David peterson) has announced that XMR will be added to ProtonVPN before the end of the summer:

https://x.com/davidgpeterson/status/1941500514803548636

This does not include their other services (such as ProtonMail) given that it's another team handling it but it's a good start I would say.

Good, we have been hearing in a long time that one of the best known privacy service for us crypto is not accepting Monero. And I'm thinking that there are competitor like AirVPN who have been accepting Monero for a long time already, so it's just about the right time for ProtonVPN.

Would love to see ProtonMail as well to be include, and it's obvious that ProtonMail>Gmail.

According to kycnot.me, they're not really privacy oriented because they have terms to suspend account or require KYC if the government request. I see email service and VPN service listed on kycnot.me offer better privacy.

I consider they're less privacy oriented, they're in the middle, that's why they can be popular.

KYC on authorities request
No routine KYC, but may cooperate with authorities, block funds or implement future KYC requirements.

Excellent news and long overdue. Supporting Monero is a must for any privacy service. This is true even if they would lose some fiat with terrible price performance, which is not the case with XMR but I am just saying. There is no other choice for privacy and anonymity.

According to kycnot.me, they're not really privacy oriented because they have terms to suspend account or require KYC if the government request.

I consider they're less privacy oriented, they're in the middle, that's why they can be popular.

KYC on authorities request
No routine KYC, but may cooperate with authorities, block funds or implement future KYC requirements.
You don't understand what you are reading or what you are writing. Proton is maximally privacy oriented as far as the law allows it. They have no choice. It is either comply or get shut down and imprisoned. Therefore, this is an unfair way to categorize them.

I see email service and VPN service listed on kycnot.me offer better privacy.
Very few have a proven track record as Proton, so they are more risky.

They haven't yet clarified anything about when this update might start. Let's see when they update it.
