There is a series "Upload" on a similar subscription topic. There, people could exist after death as an electronic fingerprint of their identity in a virtual world where absolutely everything was by subscription. Of course, there are many grotesque elements in the series, and this whole system looks like an exaggerated parody of the gameplay of some mobile game where you need to donate every 5 minutes.

A subscription is essentially the deprivation of two elements of the buyer's ownership rights, namely the denial of ownership and disposal rights. The buyer is only allowed the right to use it, but within strict limits. And from now on, the buyer turns into a user. Subscription is part of the globalist strategy of gradually depriving most ordinary people of property ("You'll own nothing and be happy"). However, in a broader sense, the denial of property is unnatural in itself. Therefore, many people intuitively do not like this system.

I just forgot to unsubscribe and lost money to a two months gift subscription service. Some company gave me a code and I enjoyed it but forgot to unsubscribe and lost money. So, one of the points is totally true and happened couple of times.

I saw a joke couple of days ago. Hulu and some other streaming service were thinking about to join together. Someone said 'ah if there are couple of more service joining we will have something called "cable"'. Like the american tv stuff that people pay.

We used to torrent everything and download the series every week. I even sometimes didn't go to school when my favourite show was on. I was one of the first ones to download from torrent in the morning. The dopamine we got was something else. When the availability increased, the dopamine decreased.

The golden rule: don't subscribe to services you don't desire, paying for things you know won't demand your time is a total waste. Someone who is into graphics won't use medium as much as they'll use freepiks. So, if they're paying for medium then it won't be overused like when they pay for image databases- it correlates with their passion. Imagine subscripting to TV channels in areas with no constant electricity, the usage won't be satisfactory. So, the person has to go for Mobile Tv channels, to be able to watch shows with gadgets even when there is no power, instead of relying on the TV alone.

We can't decide the value of subscriptions, it's is not a product to find a production cost it's different but literally the movies you have from paying $10 took billions of dollars to make in that case we can all agree it's worth it?

It doesn't work like that, these subscription is evolution of entertainment, we spent more money to buy tickets for cinema but now we can enjoy even better quality and viewing experience for just a fraction of it and you got your convenience, can watch at any time you want. So if you're someone who spends your free time by watching something then it's worth it, don't just think too much because these series are sci Fi not completely real.

I think there is a very rare amount of people who make subscriptions to gain their interest which helps them in their daily life or which helps them to change their lifestyles. the world is full of those people who make subscriptions and use it in a negative way as they gain no benefits but a lot of time waste. Some people do it for their own entertainment purpose. i think there should be some awareness techniques which help the people to learn about the subscriptions and good subscriptions because in this digital era instead of wasting time we should definitely learn about some earning platforms. Because in this era it is easy to manage things and by learning or hard working a person will be able to make some ease for himself and his family.

I think subscriptions may be helpful but only when they suit your needs and life style otherwise it is just money down the drain just without real value review them periodically and cancel those you hardly use

Its really hard to follow this rule for me. For example I have been subscribed to Netflix for a long period, but the only shows I have watched were Squid Game and Wednesday. When season comes out, it can be watched within day or two, then monthly subscription becomes useless. However, I still keep it with idea that there are so many other good shows and maybe one day I would also watch them. To bad its always hard for me to find those 1-2 hours of free time to start watching shows I have marked as favorites. With me its a non-stop growing list of what I want to watch and it stops me from cancelling subscription.

I pay quite a few even though I could probably shop around & get them cheaper elsewhere. I don’t pay any newspaper subscriptions or anything like that but I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney, satellite TV package, monthly wifi etc. It’s just the way the world is now.

I know that with enough effort, every paid content can be found for free in the internet. But I am user that value time and comfort. Instead of searching place that have better video and sound quality, no ads, I prefer to press netflix button on my remote and start watching. I can of course turn on pc, go to torrents and download HD quality, then stream it connect USB or external drive to TV, but that all consumes times. I think it is more about my free time. Few clicks and seconds vs minutes and tens of minutes spend on only preparation to watch.

Have you heard about WEF published phrase You'll own nothing and be happy? For better or worse (I think for worse), subscription model is the future. Companies don't want you to own things, they want to rent you things. It's better to charge someone monthly than to charge them once. The latter is a good business model too but people don't have enough money to pay for everything, so subscription model really benefits both, the buyer and the service provider. I prefer to pay for Shopify than to pay for each music I listen to. By the way, if someone forgets to cancel, it's their problem, they should be more cautious. And if someone underuses the service, it means that they don't need the service, so they can cancel it.

I'm not fond of subscriptions like the one the original poster (OP) mentioned. I only have one, which is Netflix, and nothing else. Maybe if I were a YouTuber who earned
a living as a content creator, I might choose a subscription connected to YouTube. But I'm not a good earner on YouTube.

Not to mention the electricity bill, Wi-Fi, and mobile internet when I'm out—when you add it all up, it's over $100 per month for these subscriptions.

So, for me, it's not practical to participate in the many subscriptions that are so common today, because we have the internet. But if there were no internet, I'm sure there would be no subscriptions like the ones we see and read about on various social media apps.

If there would no internet, it does not instantly makes subscription useless. Some packages or gadgets allow to download content and watch it without internet. Dont know how old are you, but in the past there were subscription also and they were popular. I am talking about subscribing for something physical like magazine or video content. Maybe it was special only for my area, but in my childhood it was possible to pay club fee (aka subscription) and be able to take any VHS cassette once a day. I am from era when it was possible to subscribe for video games magazine, newspaper, receive it daily/weekly/monthly and it would cost less than if I would buy them in newspaper booth. We have been living with subscription long time ago than from today.

I only subscribe to what I need and I feel I get what I pay for. Someone might subscribe to all possible streaming services and then watch one or two, which is not a very smart decision - someone else will watch all streaming services, but in such a way that they will always be subscribed to only one of them.

Someone may feel cheated in the sense that they are paying too much and not getting what they paid for, but that is a subjective assessment of each individual. Fortunately, the choice is very large today, if you don't like something or think it's too expensive, simply subscribe to something else.

That's how these companies are doing the trick and marketing. They're giving free codes and subscriptions for a month or two and then, little did the subscribers know that they're still subscribed continually. And if it won't be canceled, the subscription will start charging the user's card and will only be surprised after another month of charging and if not checked, it could go long for months or worse, a year or more.

Now I subscribe to Netflix, BeinSport, and Spotify. 
Not to mention the electricity bill, Wi-Fi, and mobile internet when I'm out—when you add it all up, it's over $100 per month for these subscriptions.

Sometimes there are 1-year subscriptions with discounts of 20% to 30%, but for me that's too much, so I always subscribe on a monthly basis.

After watching this black mirror episode, I canceled all my subscriptions except youtube
I think I saved a lot, since I wasn’t really using most of them anyway.
It made me realize how much unnecessary stuff I was paying for without even thinking.

Yes, there may not be a quality streaming sites for pirated movies, but you can download high quality movies from torrents/telegram bots and there are also sites but they tend to be riddled with ads, so I don't bother with them these days.
