Here is another example on why we really need to be quiet in our social media and not tell about our crypto investment as we might be the next target.

In this case, streamer and content creator Kaitlyn 'Amouranth' Siragusa has been the target by this criminals as they force her to reveal where in the stash of his crypto. It's good thing that she has the presence of mind to bring the criminals to his husband who is waiting for a ambush as he was able to hit one of the assailant and husband and wife escape and the criminals was caught later.

A lot of people in the crypto space don't care about their privacy anymore. Instead, they love to show off on social media about their crypto involvement and make themselves a target for criminals. I don't know what's the fun in doing this. Are they doing it to get more followers and people to subscribe to their channels or they are doing it out of ignorance for a mere show off.

The safety of our crypto asset lies in our hands, which is why privacy should be our priority in the crypto space in order to avoid whatever problem that might play out from our own unsafe practice in the future.

normally there are a lot people out there who always like to show up on social media by posting all their activities and all what they have, and their investments on social media. But with the way things are going now I don't think if all those your posting on social media is necessary since it not longer Safe out there anymore, so if you are investing in cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin you have to be on the low, for those people who are investing in cryptocurrencies are major targets of thefts, scammers and hackers. So what are my trying to say here cryptocurrencies particularly bitcoin have already given you privacy, so posting your cryptocurrency investment on social media have then rendered the privacy cryptocurrency have given to you useless which is not making sense anymore, so let's try as much as possible to maintain the privacy cryptocurrency have given to us and stop posting our cryptocurrency investment on social media, because that act  is childish.

As a streamer you will give up your location without even knowing, either through some details on the screen like receipts of Starbucks among others or some calender on the wall, video exposes location more than just a account online with no location or address.

If I flaunt about my Bitcoin on this forum for example it ends on this forum because location isn't a must, like I don't have to on my GPS to operate the forum and I don't have to drop my home address either, if not? Even Nakamoto would have been bursted.

Reason why Facebook and Twitter are also not safe like people thinks, I hope people learn from this information, there is nothing you have that others never had, where your own ends is where some other people's money starts, let's be humble as there is nothing to gain from such attitude.

Now they need to be seriously careful not to experience this again because the attackers won't be coming like this, they maybe more brutal especially since has been posted on the internet.

Social media figures and content creators in the crypto space needs to understand that they are in a more dangerous risk and how to be careful how they review their personal address and also get a proper security around them even if they're just growing, security should be important and increasing as they're growing older.

Is this a new incident or this was also the same situation that she's been a victim of these attacks? Nevertheless, it's true that we shouldn't flaunt our crypto holdings in the public. She's a streamer and she should just stick to the content and streams that she's doing without the need to mention of how much she's got and anything related to crypto if she's not a crypto influencer. Never ever disclose anything related to your private life. I understand that there are people that are satisfied to flaunt with how much they have and what they have. But this time, the world is suffering and it's dangerous to share such finances in public or mostly crypto holdings.

Here is another example on why we really need to be quiet in our social media and not tell about our crypto investment as we might be the next target.

It's good thing that she has the presence of mind to bring the criminals to his husband who is waiting for a ambush as he was able to hit one of the assailant and husband and wife escape and the criminals was caught later.

I think this story about criminals targeting you just because you have Bitcoin is just one of many FUDs meant to scare normies ,spreading FUD to prevent hyper-bitcoinization FUD like quantum computers destroying Bitcoin or Bitcoin polluting the environment is also nonsense. Interestingly, these FUD stories are spread by mainstream media. That says it all.

Think about the difference between having 2 million dollars in Bitcoin or having it in a bank. Either way, you can become a target for criminals who might try to kidnap you or someone close to you and demand that you bring them cash or transfer money to their bank accounts in some offshore locations, and so on. Bitcoin gives the advantage that no one needs to know how much money you actually own. Often, those who help criminals with such information are employed by banks. But regardless, if you have big money, you can be a target no matter where you keep it.

-snip-

This happens with all the news, not only with this one. When your mom watched on TV that a young man was stabbed at the entrance of a disco, and didn't sleep in all the night until you arrived home on Saturdays, it is for the same reason. It doesn't mean that these events usually happen, but once you've heard about them your mind does the trick. So these stories are not very "informative", but news portals have a business to run.

People like to flaunt their wealths, achievements and celebrations on social media, through these platforms strangers will know more about them without knowing them personally. We have heard a lot of stories about crypto owners who in one way or another made known their crypto worth and they got attached by robbers and kidnappers, still some others are not learning from these victims mistakes. From these unfortunate experiences that crypto owners have faced especially those with substernal amounts anybody that is still flaunting theirs and is attacked should have only themselves to blame because they had it coming. This is one demerit of holding cryptocurrency that we all have to live with, no matter how you want to celebrate or teach lessons about your crypto success it's better not to.

The worst thing someone can do on social media is to let their wealth be open(show off) on social media, either in crypto or monetary form. Social media can be an entertaining place to spend much of your time, but not as welcoming as it may seem because what you post is made publicly. Not only your friends who see it, but also some other people who see them.

We should be mindful of whatever we post because not everyone has good intentions on social media. Many are looking for someone to scam or take down for their wealth.

I have also severally warned most of my female friends across where I am currently to mind how they talks about bitcoin holdings and the dollar equivalents because most people who are having very minor understanding about bitcoin could think they are holding thousands of bitcoin which I think is not good that way. This should sound as example to people out there who aren't careful and mindful of their speech about bitcoin or how they fluent it on social media about their holding can likely attracts problems to themselves just as what happened this person here.

I don't know why people are so thirsty with the spotlight i mean, you can already buy anything you want, do what you want if you have lots of bitcoin, but one thing some people can't control is to flaunt because they want to brag what they achieved, they did not know that those millionaires don't care what they wear, or what they do, they just have the control, but those who just taste million wants to be the star that others to be envy not knowing they are putting their self in danger.

One thing is anything associate with bitcoin because a news for media houses, that’s how they have been spreading the negative propaganda or streotype about bitcoin. This cases are not so uncommon if we are been honest with ourselves. This isn’t too different about other cases of theft or robbery attacks on people who flaunt their wealth but since it concerns bitcoin the agenda from the media is usually loud, because they don’t treat bitcoin as a currency or even the regular asset, our many news have read of someone been robbed off his gold assets or accessories.

I don’t have to blame the media for always bringing this. Seriously if there was any currency or asset that would have actually stopped or even reduce the number of attacks or robberies like this, it’s bitcoin. My reasons are with other currencies most especially fiat you’re never anonymous because third parties like banks knows how much you have with your identity attach to it, then taking physical cash is another risk on his own. But with bitcoin been pseudonymous, you can go complete anonymous without anyone knowing what you own. But yet people still don’t want this freedom and prefer flaunting their wealth yet.

The problem for her is basically not solved. Once they create a post or broadcast saying that someone has cryptocurrency, these people will attract the attention of more than one scammer. Today, she managed to get out of a dangerous situation, but no one says that the same thing will not happen again. The Internet remembers everything, and for people who cannot be modest, such a memory is always dangerous.

Fortunately, crypto ownership is something that depend solely of us! In other words, the wallet owner is the only one who can move funds and is also responsible for it.

So, unlike a bank account, where there are other companies that could help you or be held liable in the event of a theft, with crypto its not possible to reverse or block a transfer in the event of a theft.

So, the basic and most crucial thing is that the owner of these cryptos has the prudence to keep it safe. Understand that security doesn't just depend on having a strong password, but also on keeping it confidential. I understand that they were influencers and they are somehow more exposed, but there's a clear difference between supporting cryptos and praising them and revealing how rich they've made you.

And for regular users, its worth remembering that in addition to avoiding publicly discussing the amount of crypto you hold, we shouldn't share screenshots of wallets, transactions, or profits.... If you need to talk about cryptos, always do so anonymously, just like we do here on the forum.

The fact is that this is not the first or second time I have seen this kind of news but I don’t know why some people don’t learn from others mistakes. I don’t understand why some people always decide to flaunt their wealth on social media. I have idea that some people flaunt their wealth on social media just to get more followers. But even with that, there are certain things that we don’t need to say in public, especially on social media. Things like someone claiming is holding amount cryptocurrency such things have to remain private. This just reminds me of a story I heard about a young man who lied in public, claimed to have a large amount of bitcoin. A week later, the man was kidnapped and killed. So, we should always be careful about what comes out of our mouths because we never know who might be around us at that particular time or are around us.

The thing is, it may not even be about an individual with the intention to steal your bitcoin but that the individual just have the intention to cause you bodily harm out of hate. The internet is like a 24/7 surveillance camera, the good and bad guys are always watching and they are even much closer to us than we think. Keep your story to yourself. Keep your finances and bitcoin news and updates you yourself.  Keep your new wins and new profits to yourself. It can happen in even the remotest part of the world so don't assume it only happens to those in America, France, Germany, Italy or other known places.

When choosing a career, one should be prepared for the danger that lies ahead of it. The lady was just doing her normal streaming and could have probably mentioned her crypto holdings and involvement in other things in order to attract more engagement, not knowing that among all the viewers some are just there not for anything aside from monitoring how they can penetrate and steal that which the streamer has publicized. Security first before anything; she has escaped this one and should be careful next time in order for it not to repeat itself.

Streaming reveals location through on-screen details; online forums don’t. Be cautious

privacy isn’t guaranteed anywhere. Stay humble.
Everything reveals some information, streaming just reveals a lot more information a lot faster. Just because you don't show your face here that does not mean that someone can't find you.

That is not very likely to happen to normal people. If you occasionally show things it is not likely that someone is going to hate you enough to do something to you, they usually have other people they already hate and which are much closer to them. For streamers and influencers this is different and they may have plenty of people who hate them.

This thread is not about careers or this lady, it is about not showing your wealth which has nothing to do with careers.
