Has anyone looked into A2RL – Autonomous Racing League?

I came across this through a friend and have been keeping an eye on it. It’s essentially Formula 1 for autonomous race cars – pretty cool hardware (apparently each car costs around £500k) and they’ve got 15 cars (although only 11 racing teams at the moment). Their last event at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi drew over 15,000 in-person attendees and ~2M views online.

Now here’s the part that really interested me:
There are some early signs/rumors that they’re exploring Blockchain integrations – stuff like tokenized fan engagement, predictive markets, staking systems for race outcomes, and even team-level token economies. Possibly even issuing their own token tied to participation or liquidity rewards.

Given that the racing teams aren't known names (seems like most are universtities), I’m curious – how would you see a Web3 angle working here?
Could tokenized ecosystems still gain traction without traditional sports personalities driving engagement? Or would the tech + autonomy angle be enough?

Interested in any thoughts or comparisons to other Web3 x sports plays. I'm just following it from the sidelines, but the scale and funding seem real.

That sounds very cool.

But autonomous racing with legged vehicles.

Is what the people want to see.
