A special anti-corruption court here on Friday sentenced 14 people — 11 police officials including former Amreli district superintendent of police Jagdish Patel, a former BJP MLA from Amreli, Nalin Kotadiya, and two others — to life imprisonment in a 2018 case involving the kidnapping of a Surat businessman to extort cryptocurrency from him. While special judge B B Jadav held the 14 people guilty of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping for ransom, illegal detention and assault, he acquitted one accused, Jatin Patel.

Looks like a big news regarding the bitcoin case but I didn't see about this is any social media posts nor TV, Did you guys read it?

And this is just an illustration of how our corrupted system is, the one who is supposed to maintain the law and order is conspiring with the kidnappers and stealing money from the bitcoin and this came into a result because the victim is not just some average middle class person but a big fish too so imagine what happened if it's an average joe.

Guess someone posted this news here few years back because I do remember reading about this Gujarati businessman and how he was tortured for bitcoins.

Took almost 7 years but finally judgement came. Moral of the story is keep your corn safe and no need to advertise anything to anyone.

The concept of privacy is a joke when it comes to our country and for the fact we yet to have any proper laws protecting internet security and data in our country like UK that is why every social media wants to operate in India so they can siphon all the data they can and sell it back to the big companies where there is 1.5 billion people market there.

Karma? But he extorted his money so it can't be a karma effect.

But what happened in our system is what becomes a concern, even a big shot like these has to go through 7 years of legal battle and who knows how many under table transactions to make this happen but imagine a common middle class people who lost a couple of lakhs has no way to recover it back.

Funnily enough around the time this incident first happened, there were rumours swirling around my extended friend group that I had a substantial number of BTC. It was all untrue and I made sure to shut down the rumours ASAP since there were politician's kids in the circle and I was afraid some might take notice.

Glad I took those steps because who wants to get roughed up just for them to find out the rumours held no water. I never found out who started the rumours either.

As a standalone basically nothing is wrong with it. However, in context it made sense for the friend group as they already knew I had been looking forward to moving and that supposed level of money would have more than afforded it.

I am currently living a joint family too and while there are pros and cons, it's hard to maintain the harmony among everyone.
The difference in opinion as you say matters a lot and especially when your wife has a different opinion compared to others.

Yes, I also feel same way, I moved away from my parents only a couple years ago, and I have grown so much, I sometimes wonder had I done same years prior, it would have been much better for me.

Parent should encourage their kid to be independent which doesn't mean they should be separated but also you are saying is truth, we could not act independently all the time while we are living with parents and it's only possible when they trust our judgment completely and take the risk if there is and we can't blame them for it because they are being conservative though.

It's better to remain spectators instead of taking sides with no judgement, no need to become chaudhary when all the ladies at home gets into action, lugaiyo ki bhasad se dur hi Raho toh aacha hai lol.

Everything depends on individual to individual. I've lived alone and away from home on and off since I was teen (as 15-16 yo) and now in mid 30s living in joint family setting, I am incredibly relaxed. At times, it's chaotic af but it doesn't bother me at all and weirdly i find it very peaceful because I am surrounded with loved ones. Yeah, there's always irritating character in group but overall it's all good.

It's definitely more convenient being able to lean on other people. I did my part for the household which ended up being much less than if I was on my own. The social aspect is also much healthier if you work from home and don't get out much otherwise (no work socialising).

However, there is a certain peace I get from living on my own that is quite nice.

That is the thing. When we live with out family consisting of elders, we always have to seek their permission to do anything.
We always have to discuss our plans with them to move forward and if we don't go according to them then we have to face all the emotional drama and stuff.
Sometimes their advice works for us but sometimes it doesn't because they follow their own old thinking and don't adapt and evolve with time.
That is what becomes our main concern at times but with all that said, living with our family comes with own pros as well as cons.
