Bitcoin is ahead , but altcoins often outperform it in certain cycles. When Bitcoin rallies, capital flows in, and once it slows, traders sometimes rotate into smaller tokens for higher returns. This dynamic is tracked through Bitcoin dominance.

Balancing between Bitcoin’s stability and altcoins’ potential upside is part of portfolio management. Timing is key betting on altcoins too early can be painful, while waiting too long can mean missing opportunities. The question isn’t whether altcoins will move, but when.Would you put your confidence in Bitcoin’s dominance or risk chasing altcoin surges?

We call most altcoins pump and dump or dump and dump. It has a reason. See this latest pump and dump coin:

Not only that I will prefer bitcoin dominance, bitcoin is also not pump and dump or dump and dump. Bitcoin is an appreciative asset and a store of value, unlike altcoins.

Now is the time to be in altcoins, just before altseason when many altcoins will pump 5x, 10x even 20x in just a few months.

Bitcoin has had its time, its gone from $25k to $124k in 2 years so it has had a great pump, you don't want to be buying now at $117k near the highs.

Bitcoin dominance will fall soon with altcoins outperforming a lot, but it wont last long so try catch some good returns in altcoins between now and end of year.

Outperform Bitcoin? How many altcoins have to so while not dumping too hard in the Bear market? If there are any, there are very few

I know altcoins that pumped so hard in the previous cycle but may not a hit a new all-time high in this current cycle. All I am saying is trade smart and avoid being a bag holder of some shitcoins that may just dump on you and may never rise again. Most of them are just seasonal.

I am open to key in on any opportunities that presents itself the the crypto space, I am not a bitcoin maximalist and did not buy a lot of bitcoin in 2010 - 2017 when some maximalist bought a whole lot of  bitcoin and are reaping the profit till this day. Therefore, even as I put my confidence in bitcoin, buying on DCA strategy, I will still be chasing opportunities in altcoins market because it's better for to risk than not trying. I never know the one I could be lucky with and it can give me a lot of profit than the past years that I have missed buying bitcoin. What matters is to take smart risk with the right knowledge of what you are doing.

Beware of altcoins hype, those coins or tokens you see all of a sudden rises and make all time high and fall at the same pattern, they mostly don't rise again to previous high, because they have been dumped, if we are ethe type that often go after this, we need to be more careful because we may miss it all and at once.

Altcoins are like a much worse version of penny-stocks, they have no real potential or utility but most importantly they have a much smaller markets. That means their markets are very easy to manipulate (aka pump and dump). Therefore we have always seen altcoins get bigger pumps in short term than bitcoin has rises in the same period. But that is only in short term (a period from one hour to 1 week for example) not long term so we can't call it "performance" for them to "outperform" bitcoin.

So to answer your question, the altcoins will always get big pumps in short term and for those who are willing to take the risk of trading altcoins (ie. riding the pump & dump waves) they will continue remaining a viable option.

Some altcoins do outperform bitcoin in some alt season but the question is how long do they outperform bitcoin? in the short run i guess, do you rather prefer coins with short term trends or bitcoin that has long term trends? and even in the short run, no one knows exactly when it will dump and when it's time for them to dump, it's always heavily unlike bitcoin that DIPs gradually except there is a serious liquidation in the market.

I prefer bitcoin's dominance to risking my money on altcoins because am confident that bitcoin will always perform better in the long term but even if i want to risk my money on altcoins, which one them will i risk on, or how will i know an altcoin that can perform better than others. It is hard to know an altcoin that will pump during alt season so it's better to buy more bitcoins and be safe in the future than risk on coins that don't have potentials.

Actually I don't appreciate much the movement of other altcoins since they are fast cash grab for developers and also for those people who bought early those tokens.

Lots of people lose from altcoins due to rug pulls and other scams that's why even if they say that it alts out perform Bitcoin, still we could see that if we compare this coin to most of alts out there Bitcoin is always at its best position and none of those alts out can surpass its popularity.

I don't have full trust on alts especially those shitcoins out and I trust Bitcoin more than those unreliable alts out there.

Have you seen anyone chose counterfeits of fiat over a real money ? how then would you want to chase altcoins which as mostly pump and dump scheme or Ponzi scheme over having a lesser risk investment that would guarantee you some level of profit while all you have to do is just hold it and never too worry about it's volatility since it has a bear and bullish season but for altcoins seasons only depends on bitcoins rally.

So for preference altcoins is no match to bitcoin, yet if I want to play some game or gamble with my myself I will definitely pick the top altcoins and put some few dimes into them hoping for the best yet expecting the worst from them.

That is definitely the way to look at it. But it's also not the same thing, because we are seeing something different right now and not the same thing. If we can get this happen then it's not going to be easy to any of us at all.

If we do that, then we are going to matter a lot more and can get a lot better results. This is why it's quite important for us to have a lot better approach here, and shouldn't be worried about it at all. I know that it's not going to be great for alts to be seen as "counterfeit" but it's really at that level compared to bitcoin. Obviously the top names are not that bad, like ETH or BNB or SOL and what not, but the lower ones are just counterfeit where dev just creates a shitcoin to get rich.

1. Price? nope.
2. Market cap? nope.
3. Dominance? nope.
4. 24 hours trading volume? yes, even now USDT has been trade more than Bitcoin.
5. Supply? this isn't a comparison.

99% of the time these altcoins are riding in the waves of bitcoin because they got no real utility just got the value based on some buzz, social media influence and pump and dump schemers so if you are expecting an altcoin to beat bitcoin in any possible way then it should be superior in decentralization and work on the proof of work concept.

Many altcoins pumped 20x or even 50x in the last few years from the bear market low in 2022 while Bitcoin has only done a 8x from its $16k low.

We are about to enter altseason like we do every 4 years towards the end of the cycle, it is much better to be in altcoins now not Bitcoin.

Why would I settle for a pump and dump coin when there is one that will give me peace of mind and I can be sure of my investment getting me profitable. The bitcoin dominance is incomparable with any of this altcoins no matter how they perform in the market, so risking into an altcoin that is not what one should even settle for. I believe there are people that try to balance between this two, but making a wrong decision while balancing them will make it very hard to get back on your feet if you risk too much. Bitcoin is very volatile but the confidence you can derive on Bitcoin is far better than what you can get through altcoins no matter how catchy they are to be profitable.

I have my bet on bitcoin to be on the safer side. And that makes me flexible that I can also bet and risk in chasing altcoins that are new. But I don't do that anymore because it has lost me a lot of money that I didn't like. If I am still that the same guy, I'd probably lose more than what I can afford to lose because of my ego that I'll likely find the better altcoin that would be moving as high as a 1000x of gain.

I will still stick with Bitcoin because it feels safer and more reliable. in the past, i have chased altcoins hoping for huge gains, but most of the time i just ended up losing money instead. but if i had like continued down that path!! probably i would have even lose more than i could handle because of greed and the belief that i could find the next big coin. the truth is i personally don't believe Bitcoin can give something lik 1000x returns overnight, but it has proven itself over the years and keeps showing real strength every bull cycle. Altcoins can be kinda exciting, but most of them rise and fall too quickly and at the end of the day many never recovers. but for bitcoin!! it has gone through so many crashes and always found its way back up with even high price more than where it was before it crash downward.

Yes, that's also me. I've experienced that and that's why if I am going to be with the alts, they're the ones that I am holding already and not going to buy at this moment with any of the new launches. While the real traders and hype chasers, they can make money out of it and they know the risk. But as for me, I am not going to take time for it because I know that I might take some losses again if I continue to do the same strategy for spotting new good alts.

They never outperformed Bitcoin, and they never will. You can artificially inflate the % return on any project by inducing a multi tiered strategy of manipulation:

1) Start with low MC.
2) Massive centralization of supply.
3) Collusion with market makers and VCs to drain the limited liquid supply from retail.
4) Pump with little resistance.
5) Sell at retail who later lose money.

Of course if you compare a small shitcoin to a $2 trillion dollar asset then the percentage return of the small shitcoin has a bigger chance of being better. That does not mean it is better in any way or that anything is guaranteed. If you believe otherwise you should go trade penny stocks. You will definitely become rich.  Cheesy

We call most altcoins pump and dump or dump and dump. It has a reason. See this latest pump and dump coin:
The tiniest percentage of altcoins do not have terrible price performance. Everything that is doing fine is just survivorship bias. For every 1 project that is doing good price wise there are thousands and thousands that went to the gutter.

Not only that I will prefer bitcoin dominance, bitcoin is also not pump and dump or dump and dump. Bitcoin is an appreciative asset and a store of value, unlike altcoins.
Even the dominance metric is fake and the real dominance is more than 90%.
