someone in our group posted this & told they were going & it got me thinking what do people even do at these events?

have u ever went to a bitcoin meetup of any kind? what happens there?

I have been to expositions and conferences but I would never visit a bitcoin meetup, the only reason is because I value my privacy among the bitcoin community and would not want to give away my position on the amount of money I hold or my real identity.

However this is the first time I am also hearing about this and getting a new article sponsored on less known new outlets, they are probably not looking for a huge impact but a small one to start.

It would be worth seeing what products they bring to the table in this dull government.

It's not an Indian based exchange neither FIU regulated as far as I checked, it's Singapore based exchange with no so much great reputation under their name. They have been hacked and also got some serious unresolved scam accusations, so associating with such one is not a great choice.

Good to know about the meetup but unfortunately even I won't be able to attend. I always feel like these bitcoin meetups ruin our anonymity. I don't think anyone here will really accept going to the meetup but they might end up being there. It's great to build network and strong connections within the industry. If you have any future plans of launching your project or maybe just working as a full-time employee in any other project than this might be a good opportunity. Or else, it's really of not that use.

As BitcoinSmith said, Bitrue does not have that good reputation when it comes to exchanges. They already were hacked multiple times in the past. They just have organised this promotional event maybe to gain attention from Indian investors.

Yeah, even I am concerned of this. While I have heard of multiple such bitcoin meetups, especially from the ICO era if you remember we used to have multiple such events back then.
But the concerning factor here is that going to such events would give away our privacy as people will get to know that we hold bitcoin.
Although they won't ever figure out how much we hold but certainly they can tell we hold something.
