Apparently, I've been watching a popular Canadian and American version of Shark Tank. So for those who dont know what the show is all about, let me give a brief summary.

Definition: A shark tank is a tv show where entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas or products to a panel of wealthy investors (the "sharks"). The sharks decide whether to invest their own money in exchange for equity or royalties in the entrepreneur’s company.

Coming down to our country, are there huge investors who act as "sharks" that new ideas can be pitched to? The tv shows we see more often in Nigeria are talent shows, while there are millions of individuals without ideas worth banking on.

One last question. Have any Crypto start-ups in Nigeria considered pitching their products to companies or individuals considered as 'Sharks"?

The lions den is one that's active here in Nigeria with investors like Dan ngerem, Bolaji Balogun and other investors that interviews entrepreneurs and start up allowing them pitch Thier business ideas and depending on how good the idea is, the Investor decides to invest in the idea while taking a certain percentage in the form of equity.

The main issue I have with this kind of show is that most investors might end up stealing your idea and leaving you behind if you give them too much detail about the business. Some take it as an avenue to get initiative from and not necessarily an SME promotion promotion.

Regarding pitching a crypto startup, most of the investors that are part of the lions are always after investment that have smaller risk and so, it's going to be hard for them to consider a crypto related investment except the person that's buying into that idea is one that's a crypto enthusiast.

This is the problem we have in this country because most of the rich investors he have here are very greedy and selfish, and there is a business idea that you will give to a firm or a company and they will act as if they don't welcome it, but you will see them using that idea in their business and excelling whereby the brain behind it is left out of the plan. I just think that the best will be for those big investors to offer loan programs such that they will access the business idea of any entrepreneur that wants to take the loan in other to know if it is worth it, i think this idea would be preferable.

There is a Nigerian version of shark tank called Lion's Den.. But for crypto startups, most of them are usually invested in by international venture capitals firms.. Nigerian crypto exchanges like Quidax have successfully raised millions of dollars by pitching their solutions to these venture capital firms because they focus on scalability, traction and regulatory compliance.
Most of the crypto startups are not very favored by televised pitching platforms like Lion's Den
