received this email this morning and i must have previously tried to access their giveaways which is why i was on some sort of list of theirs

i think this is pretty good for people who do not care about using centralized exchanges and/or paying 30% crypto gains tax

because i always find the price of bitcoin to be on the lower side on coinbase as compared to other cex's especially indian cex who charge way too much imho

what do u guys think, good or bad?

you never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from

I tried checking and haven't received any email so you must be luck to check their service, did you tried registering?

It will be a game changer if they brought in BTC/INR or atleast any crypto with INR pair for buy/sell then everyone will be moving to that exchange because selling crypto to INR is still the biggest issue for Indians and Binance and other FIU registered exchanges failed to notice that for some reasons.

From what I have learnt from the global members, coinbase is something to avoid.

But you can surely try setting up an account there and tell us about the KYC/AML woes there. Try not to use them as your wallet because of the risk of non-custodial wallets, which you might already know.

Trading pairs is another thing, if they have INR/BTC pairs then it would be huge. Most have USD/BTC or EUR/BTC pairs only.

Anyway another crypto project coming to India is always a good news.

I don't know why you think like that but coinbase is not the worst on anything other than their customer support service. They will take weeks to reply to a single query and it may take months to resolve an issue but they offer economical fee and more possible trading pairs as possible. Back in the day they had coinbase exchange and wallet merged into one which is why most newbies used it as wallet and lost funds due to many reasons but now they have separate non custodial wallet which offers seeds but not recommend to use since it's closed source.

Coinbase coming back to India will definitely be a really good news as we are desperately looking for a better option to convert cryptos into cash without much involving the governments. But I wonder, is coinbase compliant with Indian government? Huge exchanges like binance and kucoin had some issues cooperating with out government so should we really expect coinbase to run effectively or will they just lock our funds anytime they get a notice from the government?
