Ledger has released new device, namely Ledger Nano Gen5. From now on they call all their products as signers rather than wallets, so it is Ledger Nano™ Gen5 signer.

Among others features this $179 device has 2.8” E Ink® secure monochrome touchscreen, USB-C, Bluetooth® and NFC.

Besides they renamed their Ledger Live app. From now on it is Ledger Wallet.

Seems like it... Trezor's new device has a open source secure element chip, so they are in the advantage here.

My best hardware wallets are airgapped hardware wallets which are open source. The best that I like among them is Foundation Passport and which is the bitcoin-only wallet that I prefer to recommend to people.

But no much better option for altcoins than to recommend Trezor which is far better than Ledger hardware wallet which are close source hardware wallets.

The quantum ready about Trezor Safe 7 is for marking purpose.

I don't know how they still maintain Ledger Recover, given that this is one of the main reasons Ledger is burning itself out with its customers. Does the revenue generated by Ledger Recover justify keeping Ledger Recover as one of the company's main strategic decisions?

Common users shouldn’t bother with their overpriced service where Ledger has positioned itself as the central coordinator for multisig scheme. There are plenty of open-source alternatives, like Liana or Sparrow ^{Liana is the best} that do the same job, often even better. The money-bags, whose brains have become bloated, will likely swallow the bait.

What is this for? Ledger's own privacy policy states that sharing this kind of data requires consent, yet this is happening anyway to a company (Datadog, Inc.) not even mentioned in the privacy policy!

Ledger is becoming a honeypot that could leak data at any moment to criminal organizations, such as socialist governments thirsty for taxation and insatiable surveillance against their own citizens forced to support this tax-collecting system, or even to common kidnappers.

Ledger holds the master key for all Ledger Recover users.

Ledger's firmware is closed source, so there's no way to prove Ledger or anyone who gains access to Ledger's code can't access user's keys even if they don't subscribe to Ledger Recover, since the API to export seeds from the hardware wallets is baked into the firmware.

Luckily, Ledger's codebase has never been acc...  oh, wait:

How many former Ledger employees still have access to their codebase?  Ledger won't say, not that we could trust any answer they'd give.  Do they even know?

Anyone who sticks with Legder after learning these things deserves whatever happens to them.

And the worst part is, when Ledger's key extraction scheme gets hacked, no one but the hackers will know. The hackers aren't going to tell the world. They're going to quietly extract as many seeds as possible over a period of months or even longer before they start emptying wallets. And when they do hit those wallets, it'll happen fast and it will be brutal, because they'll hit 'em all in one fell swoop.

It's not enough to just switch away from Ledger hardware. People need to move their coins away from any seed that has ever touched Ledger hardware. I did.

I am sure they did the same thing few years ago (over $385 million in 2021 and $109 million in 2023) but it was obviously not enough for them.
This could be big problem for all ledger device owners, since new investors are going to ask for some terms and conditions and more signed NDAs.
They are not just giving away money for free without expecting something in return.
