Gambling and driving is the same thing as drinking and driving,  because you cannot be focused while placing a bet and driving and that goes with drinking too. I wonder how someone will be so addicted to gambling that he will place a bet while driving.  I have never seen a thing like that, but it's really bad and such person does not deserve a driving license from the authorities. I think if it gets to that point, the person has to start looking at himself as a gambling addict and beginning to look for a way to curb it, before it destroys him.

Anything that can distract someone from focusing while driving should be avoided. If a person is not addicted, I don’t see any reason why they should be driving and gambling at the same time. In fact, they will lose focus on both sides they can’t give full concentration to driving, and at the same time, they can’t fully focus on gambling. If someone feels they can't catch with the bet they eant to play.it’s better for them to find a safe place to park, focus on gambling and then continue driving after they finish. The main point is that addiction can lead someone into danger. Personally I haven't seen a person who placed a bet while driving on the road.It's advisable to desist from every form of distraction while driving on the road,and gambling happens to be a form of distraction to an irresponsible who never feel comfortable gambling in his comfort zone.There is nothing wrong in doing the right thing at the right time,this act of gambling while driving will lead to nothing but accident of the victim and road users.I would advise every gambler to practice safe driving regardless of how important the bet might be at the moment.

there is no reasonable explanation that such person can give as validation to his driving and gambling at the same time. regardless of how you choose to put it, gambling is at the extreme of lack of self control and if the authority can lay hand on that kind of individual, he deserve to be put behind bars. this is not even about the possibility of the person misjudging in his gambling but rather that the act of operating your mobile device when driving posses risk to not just yourself but to all other road users you are sharing the road with.

This should be considered the highest form of irresponsible as a gambler because gambling is not worth risking your life and at the end of the day you might even end up losing the bet you risked your life for, driving requires your undivided attention and so does gambling too because you will need to focus on the games to make a reasonable prediction so it also needs your attention. I think that whatever the reason, using a cell phone while driving is highly inadvisable. Driving requires intense focus, you are not only endangering your own life but also the lives of innocent others who have done nothing to you. That is why it is important to understand that the risks you take are too great, even daydreaming while driving is not acceptable, let alone gambling, which we know can affect your emotions in just a few moments. What is clear is that driving must be concentrated, it is better to leave things that distract you from driving, because in it you are not only carrying yourself but carrying many lives.

It's not losing and winning, just taking a gamble is wrong, why are there so many people who don't care about the safety of others, even though they get money from those passengers, if I were a passenger I would probably hit them at that time.

There are certain things that can wait while younarr driving and gambling is one of them, you don't have to distract yourself juat because you want to place a bet, why can't it wait till you are done? There are people that just put themselves in harms way intentionally and when something crazy happens they forget to blame themselves for it. Gambling should not be done while you are driving. This is totally a wrong thing to do, why not park even along the road, and safely place your bet. This could be that a certain game code was sent to him and the time for the game(s) to start could be the reason for this reckless act.  Not really everyone that has common sense. There is a reason why it is good not to do any other thing while driving, even looking at the back seat is a hazard act. Anything causing distraction when driving is not a good thing at all.

Spot on advice. A distracted driver is a danger to himself and to other road users. And if he has passengers in the vehicle, then he is a double danger to the passengers. I hope he gets caught and his license suspended. And yes, that is an obvious sign of gambling addiction. He needs help, that is if he will agree to get some help. Aside the addiction, using one's mobile device while driving is prohibited in many states and drivers caught gets citations for it.

I have personally seen people gamble at some unconventional places but this is the first time I encountered this story.

The problem here lies with endangering not only yourself but to other drivers along the road as well. This is entirely destructive as it poses a safety risk to all people who can potentially be involved in the event of an accident. I am not surprised if this driver/gambler gambles for profit.

Like you mentioned OP, gambling should be reserved as a means of entertainment. When this habit takes over our daily lives to the point that it prejudices your safety, then you are succumbing to addiction which in the first place be avoided at all cost.

Well, I have seen many people "glued" to phone screens while driving... sometimes it's me who does that. People do it for all sorts of reasons... sometimes it's following directions, some can't wait to respond to a message, and many times we have to check the foolish notifications.

So this guy was impatient... but was he really reckless while driving? Or you saw him doing that while waiting in some big traffic jam... there's a big difference.

In any case, it's foolish to discuss driving experiences...  we can't compare huge cities and their traffic with some middle or small towns. At the same time, it's not something strange either... There are more cars on the streets than ever... even in my small city, it's crazy, many people simply don't know how to drive... many professional drivers are idiots. Seems like many people don't know basic rules.

But I don't bother anymore... I rarely use the horn. I simply drive through the mess, and I let those fuckers think about their next move alone... whatever that move is, it's behind me.

From the traffic police's perspective, we see many signboards and instructions that say not to use a phone while driving. You are not just putting your own life at risk but the lives of others too.
