Though people have been saying that we shouldn't depends on the government and which many of us are doing ,many don't even knows what government money look like, because they haven't one day dream on depending on government,but come to think of it,what happened  to our basic amenities they are supposed to work for the less previlage or generally for the communities,many places today in local communities are suffering and lack of government presence,since we don't longer depends on them as many usually  say don't depend on government,so what is the duty of government ,now they have failed us ,are they really cheating on us or is it that their regime don't fetch out money to use for those works to be carry out effectively?

For me what is currently happening now shows that the government are cheating on us, especially in Nigeria, people do say there's no money, that is a pure lie from the pit of hell, because the politician are living well am not saying we should depend on the government but at least they should be able to provide job opportunities for the citizens, promote good education system and provide for the less privilege, instead of them doing this, they will use the money meant for project for the well-being of the people they will share it among themselves, fly their children abroad, provide good and suitable education for them, driving latest car and all the rest, while we the citizens are suffering nothing to hold on, anybody that says the government haven't failed us is a big lier, for me am not relying on the government, they should just stop the bandits that are killing the innocent citizens and do what they like.

Look, I personally think it would be foolish to put all the blame on the government. Yes, it cannot be accepted that corruption does not happen through the government. Most of the citizens of the country are deprived of the rights that have been allocated to them due to corruption. That does not mean that you can stay in the country without relying on the government. For example, no matter how self-reliant we citizens are, it is not possible for us to manage the entire economy of the country and it is not our responsibility either. Besides, the projects running in different parts of the country are run by the government. It is not possible for the common citizens to manage them. You cannot avoid these issues.

The increase in corruption in a country is not only the responsibility of the government of that country, but the citizens of that country must also take responsibility for it. Because corruption occurs because opportunities are given to corruption, be it small or big. We basically avoid these issues all the time. We pretend not to see the corruption going on in the society.  We neither protest nor seek redress and from here the dishonest people get the opportunity to gradually increase their immoral activities, the results of which we have to suffer later. For example, think about the issue of bribery, although it is immoral, it is so common that if you do not do it, you will become a sinner, but think for a moment, if we protested it strongly, would it have increased so much? The issue is a bit like the "Broken Window Theory". Even if we see something wrong, we do not correct it or avoid it. Whereas as citizens of the country, we also have responsibilities and duties and we must fulfill them from our own position. Everything cannot be imposed only on the government.

That's is very correct this is actually cheating I have checked and I confirmed that is actually cheating but for them to do what they promised us they failed after we have given them the support that they want during election and campaign but look at it ,in the aspects of bandit terrorism all over the country at it's now the life of any average Nigeria is not longer save due to their actitude towards Nigeria,they make promises to bandits yet their promises they made they failed to fulfill it ,that why the killing is much but yet they give deff ears to it .

Every reasonable government that are control by a good leaders knows it's his responsibility to provide social amenities to the people especially the rural populace.The major problem could be if the stakeholders and other relevant government officials in the area have not let the people concern to know about it.its the duty of those representing the area to bring what they are lacking in there area to government awareness with that Government will take note of it and work towards making it happen.in the other hand,if the government is rule by corrupted whose motive is siphoning the treasury into his private pocket,it will lack developmental projects which is not his priorities so such amenities will not come.

You’re wondering if the government is cheating us , well it really feels like they’re just playing us. Everyone is out here struggling, prices are flying up and down and they’re acting like everything is fine . If like they’re using us and taking most of the credits.  We’re suffering the load and they are enjoying the title.
And when we complain, they’ll say they’re working on it, what have they worked for cause we’ve not seen many results, they’re still bad roads etc .
And at the end of the day we know we’ve been cheated, it’s been this way for as long as I remember.

According to the question are they really cheating on us the answer is yes to be compared with what they are benefiting from the land there are many places which government is benefiting from all like the mineral resources which the government is not doing what they're supposed to do, but as a citizen we cannot Hope on government to do all what we want for us to survive.
Because they cannot provide all our knees desperate what thiey are  benefit from the land in this case I see a government as a father, who can give you what you want and not all you need.

there are government jobs that is available for people to do but the thing is that so many people is not qualified to do such job because I don't have a document or a qualification that they will make them to occupy such positions in government job, so many people who choose to be independent they are there because they don't have any option or surviving except having a small scale business that can sustain them without government empowerment, so government also have their own good roles and the life of their citizen but the thing is that so many of the people who is in the government privatized some employment opportunities that will giving to less privilege in order to sustain life heavily use it and give their family members so that richness will it continue to cycle in their family

Talking about depending on the government, you shouldn't depends on the government for basically every thing. Yes they are cheating us and ripping us off our rights, the money is there for them to utilize but of course they don't care about the citizens. Or do you think they would assume any position in the government house if there's no money or if it isn't profitable to them? I have never depended on anyone and not even the government because they are only gathering money for their children and generations to live a better life so it doesn't matter to them if we suffer. The government know what they are doing so don't think that their lack of presence is because there is zero money to help citizens, if only they can provide security in the country then I'm good because with effective security I can go out without fear and fend for myself.

You are very correct @AmaGold70 this is the reason why many are being kidnapped in different states yet the government has nothing to do about it though the government has promised them for a better leaving yet they failed too this is why they have turned into kidnapping people killing people so that it will pain the government yet the government seems not to do anything about it they are ripping us , making us look like deads when will are alive you are very correct

Are the government cheating on us? YES they are cheating on us because the money that is being gotten from revenues from taxes which the government are supposed to use and create job opportunities for the masses are now being used to enrich themselves and their loyalists leaving behind projects they should have used to money in a dilapidated state and go about borrowing money from other countries and incurring large debts for their successors and it keeps rotating in that way from one government to another. Another way they are cheating on us is overestimation on projects they want to work on. A project that is supposed to take 100 million they will say it will take 500 million which is complete show of criminality and the worst part is that they don't even work this projects to the best standard.

The government is a minor group of individuals who are close to the top of the social pyramid. They survive on the efforts and hard working of others, the average citizens. Once a group of individuals reach power by being elected to a government, they don't want to lose that status anymore, so they will do anything they can to maintain that. That is where cheating and manipulation take place.

It's easy to manipulate the most ignorant ones, so they focus their efforts on manipulating the poorest class through welfare programs, lies, while running a weak economy which is heavily impacted by inflation. They claim, for an example, wages are going to be raised considerably every year, but at same time wages are raised, purchasing power decreases proportionally. The ignorant individual won't be able to notice that, though.

That is not important for the government, though. The important for them is the fact they are being successful in maintaining their positions of power each new election.

I don't know the country you are living or what might have made you to write this post but I think you need to relax and allow the government to do their job and if they are not doing what they are suppsed to do, the best thing you can do for yourself is to relax and don't panick at all. Maybe we should start with ourselves first, because the government constitutes of our brothers and sisters there in politics, they are not the ones directly in charge of projects executions, they only award and those in charge are all about themselves, looting public funds to their own pockets, we all know how the thing runs, sometimes it's not about the government, but being surrounded by negative minded individuals, who make things hard for the government and people all because they are after their selfish interests, there should be law to tackle against acts like this.

When leaders are fully protected while regular people live in fear, that’s a clear disconnect. You can hustle and mind your business, but safety and basic infrastructure are still the government’s responsibility

Recently, I have been facing challenges driving home from work. At around 5pm - 6pm the roads are filled with traffic, no movement entirely. I stayed there for over two hours before reaching home. You know the funny thing, the governor of my state startedz coming when we were on traffic, so we all had to be forced to move away by all means, for him to go freely in less than 5 minutes, alongside the military security.

Sorry but I don't really understand what you mean here.
It does not matter what country one is from, ideally nobody should depend on the government to survive, most of people are supposed to work either for private institutions or for the government itself (in positions which actually create value for society). Only a very small minority actually need help from the government, because they have physical or mental problems which do not allow them to work at the same level of the average citizen.

One of the most important roles of the government is to prosecute those who break laws and cause damage to others, whoever, each one of us is supposed be working and generating wealth by ourselves, not awaiting for the state to give us all we need.

In addition to your view, government major responsibility is to protect life and property of it citizens,by protecting the life life and property that is what brings up administrative setting in other to carry out the day to day responsibility of the government. That is why in Nigeria we have federal civil service commission, state civil service commission and that of local government, so government employees people through this commissions into a different department at each levels of government.

In most cases government can not also guarantee employment to all it citizens that is why government do come with empowerment programs that can empower the youth most especially, by giving them skill training for certain period of time.

And also as a Nigeria student of any higher institution now you are to on a particular course call entrepreneurship it's mandatory for all higher institution to keep any trade of there choice, in other to empower them before leaving the institution, and you can see it will help some many stand out on their own without waiting for any government employment because already they have skill at hand.

The government have shown completely no sign of remorse at all regarding the poor condition they've put the country. This is no longer the expected outcome from them because they've filled the minds of the citizens with false promises which they never intended to keep in the first place. The government are just here to embezzle much more stipends and they call it money that could oversee them in the future and generational wealth. Complaining about the social vices, the kidnapping and the terrorism in the northern part of the country,  definitely not helping matters. The government should do something about it.
