Though people have been saying that we shouldn't depends on the government and which many of us are doing ,many don't even knows what government money look like, because they haven't one day dream on depending on government,but come to think of it,what happened  to our basic amenities they are supposed to work for the less previlage or generally for the communities,many places today in local communities are suffering and lack of government presence,since we don't longer depends on them as many usually  say don't depend on government,so what is the duty of government ,now they have failed us ,are they really cheating on us or is it that their regime don't fetch out money to use for those works to be carry out effectively?

Sorry but I don't really understand what you mean here.
It does not matter what country one is from, ideally nobody should depend on the government to survive, most of people are supposed to work either for private institutions or for the government itself (in positions which actually create value for society). Only a very small minority actually need help from the government, because they have physical or mental problems which do not allow them to work at the same level of the average citizen.

One of the most important roles of the government is to prosecute those who break laws and cause damage to others, whoever, each one of us is supposed be working and generating wealth by ourselves, not awaiting for the state to give us all we need.

So you're thinking about the government if they have cheated on us? Well, that's the first thought that we've got when we're not receiving the basic services that they should have provided. If that means a yes, I guess that it is and they are cheating on us. You don't expect that the majority of the government are giving that value to their people and it is the people that feeds them with what they need to have. And so from the first sentence you've said, this is how we will survive. We shouldn't be dependent on them and we can't stop these officials to take advantage of their positions in their favour.

The government will work for it citizens if there is rule of law and less corruption, the major issues facing us as citizens is the problem of corruption in government, this problem have hindered people from benefiting from the government program, development and project that aim at elevating the citizens.

So for citizens to get the dividend of government, there is a need for corruption to give way, and in our today society, is becoming very hard to kill corruption in it totality no country in the world have been able to defeat corruption 100% and that is a big challenge for government performance.

me i feel like it is not really about whether we depend on the government or not because the truth is that every government has a responsibility to provide basic amenities. things like roads, water, electricity, schools and healthcare are not favour, they are sure duties for them!! when communities keep suffering while leaders enjoy comfort, it is normal for people to feel cheated because many governments have the money, but the problem is poor management, corruption and leaders who don’t prioritise the needs of ordinary people. so the feeling that we are being cheated is understandable because a responsible government should use public funds for public good not for personal interests

If you ask me whether the government is cheating citizens or not, I'd say yes. The government isn't letting our country's resources circulate. This kind of cheating happens differently in different countries, some are worse than others.
Countries like the UK and USA have resources that help them provide for their citizens. Nigeria and others have resources too. God balances things out, giving every country what it needs to care for its people. So why can't governments do the basics? Look at roads, water, electricity, communication, and transport, they're all poor in some countries. Government officials, though, live well, with good homes and cars. Meanwhile, some citizens are super poor. If you can't see you're benefiting from your country's resources, you're probably not. Leaders are cheating you if all you see is poverty.

The word "Cheating" sounds a bit funny since it wasn't a relationship or business thing in the first place. I can actually say that the government are not doing the needful, which is putting the interest of the citizens first. Some government can be very poor administratively, making the provision of basic amenities look like a very tedious task. Since the government has failed, we shouldn't even think of  depending on them. People should take it upon themselves to do the needful by fighting their way out. Campaign promises ends with campaign, so we are always presented with a different person after the election is over.

Surely this is a general problem of politicians and leaders, they make promises before resuming office and disappoints emediatly after resuming office. In as much as leadership is concerned all leaders are not thesame. We have the good bad and ugly ones. If the good leader is elected, your rural community will benefit from the dividend of the government or democracy. But when the bad leader is elected, everything turns upside down. Greediness will take a greater part of him, leaving the community in a state of chaos and outreach poverty and making the dividend of democracy not transparent. But the fact is that everyone is benefiting from government. Government this mean that apart from getting some incentives and government jobs from government, I think people still benefit from basic amenities like good pipe borne water, good roads, good schools and electricity in the area for some places.

Well surely government don't cheat but the people in power are the one who cheats because when the good leaders are alected you see changes but when the bad are in leadership then it looks like government is cheating. You can understand this from pas leaders in your locality and what they have done in when in power. The truth is that everyone can never be thesame. People lifestyle are a reflection of who they are regardless of the office or position they occupy. That is why when different people change office the community see changes.

Leave the government alone to handle what they think is the best for the interest of the people, let's focus on our individuality and be a changed person we desired to be, we ha e to be more responsible for our own self than having more dependence on the government, they will fail us, because we are not the only ones they have lots concerning the country to face, they may only try their best to make things work out, which may be or not at last.

but i know this is also a coping mechanism because the government
is incompetent and so they should just stop expecting
because the government keeps disappointing all of us

Yes most of the government of some nations are really cheating on their citizens by not standing on performing and protecting their obligations as a government of the people, leadership should be more like serving the people which includes meetings up with certain things that will be beneficial to the general public which is the social amenities, yes it is quite understandable that government can not make or provide everything to satisfy their citizens but their are things they could do in meeting up life demands of their subjects, you are right most of the government of a nation are doing better than others.

It is not necessary or advisable to depend on the government. Not  everyone  will be lucky  to gain from the government.

In  this  part of the world where i come from depending solely on the government is your own risk. We all know in this part if the world  our  leaders are mostly bias in their doings.  When it comes to  civil jobs they exhibit clannish and nepotism behavior that mean they only secure jobs to their well known  families and friends whether with good or bad qualifications.

They barely keep to their promises of supporting the poor masses  financially. They don't keep to theur words. So it's a waste of time and opportunity depending on the government for survival or anything.

My country government and leaders have been cheating on the citizens for a very long time. You pay taxes, they put it im their pockets. We are from different parts of the world, and some people are opportune to be in a country that their government is really working for them. But some people are from a country that the government doesn’t care about them, all what the politicians care about is just themselves and their family members.

In my country, people no longer depend on the government, because the government have failed the citizens already, and all the citizens are struggling on their own to survive, they no longer have confidence in the government. The government isn’t providing the basic amenities for their citizens, so everyone doesn’t even depend on them.

I will say the government are cheating us in my own region.

Regime or no regime, every government that comes is suppose to use the economic wealth of the country to grow the country and the economy. The wealth of the country is the natural resources or gift embedded in the country from creation. So it now depends on how the people in government decide to use it. Some countries have their like man power know how which is knowledge, while some have it in physical deposit. Therefore, harnessing them honestly is the difference. Those countries that seem as if they are backward have leaders who are corrupt and selfish. They won't obey laws and regulations, so things will go differently because of their selfishness.

Government is power, the cheating in there is way more sophisticated than what citizens think of it, what is brought out of their tongues as words are all fabricated lies. It's best to focus on the truth than to meddle for a long time with entities who would derive joy in deceptive activities. Citizens also make up the government, with the difference being minority in powers and wealth. The ruling powers are humans who are tasty for power and would do anything to get there, hence, no need to hope on a leader whose desire isn't the citizens.

You call it cheat i call it bad governance, marginalisation, being inhumane, wickedness amongst other names. Yes  because if not for wickedness how would someone forget his roots and not even provide the basic amenities to where they even come from talk more of  other places.  You make allot of promises, pledges and so on just to gain power and when the power finally comes you forget the people who have much beliefs and trust in you.
Even the countries that claim to practice democracy the people donot enjoy the dividends of drmocracy. Just maybe there shouldn't be that name Democracy because they just answe the name without putting into practice the actual meaning of the word

Sincerely saying the government are the ones working for us and are not suppose to cheat. In my country the way things are going is seems like they don't do what they promise.

Truth be told, don't rely fully on the government, work for yourself because if you keep on relying on them it will turn out to be time wasted.

Rather we should vote well when it's time and also hold them responsible. It's not bad to put hopes on government but we also should be careful because they will later disappoint us at the end and we should not ignore them also, because it's their jobs  to provide us with those basic amenities.
