Cryptocurrency has been around for over a decade, helping millions achieve financial freedom while exploring new digital opportunities.

However, alongside this progress, the crypto ecosystem continues to face challenges with scams, fraud, and misleading projects that harm investors.
I will leverage on my data analytic skill, and product management experience in conducting this survey.  This survey is designed to collect data, that will help us identify patterns, and produce actionable insights on crypto scams globally.

This survey is anonymous, takes only 3–5 minutes, and your honest responses will contribute to a structured, professional analysis designed to protect and inform the crypto community.

Your participation will help us create data-driven insights for a safer crypto ecosystem.

I just took your survey. I hope it's helpful for everyone.

How will the data be analyzed and where will it be made public?

Thank you for taking your time to fill this survey.
The idea to give meaningful inside that will guide investors on red flags to look out for.

The data will be analyzed using Power Bi and the insights will be made available here and other platform links will be dropped here too.

Thanks again

The question "What red flags did you notice in hindsight?" requires at least one item to be checked but does not include all possibilities, including no red flags.

Many of the questions assume that the scam involves a token when many scams don't.

this is such a great initiative!  Crypto, especially Bitcoin has opened doors for financial freedom to many people even if people get scared from scams and fishy projects. I like how you focus on the data to figure out the scams. The short and anonymous survey is super easy for people to jump in and participate. Stuff like this makes a real difference and helps crypto grow in a protected and positive way. I look forward to the insights. Keep coming!

Such an encouragement, gracias! 👍🏼
Few years ago I heard a lady discouraging another from crypto. Curiosity hot me even though I was not trading at the time. I had a few ripples from my friend in Canada. So I understand it's no scam, but she insisted it was a scam, there's nothing like crypto.
A closer look snowed she was defrauded although not by a project, but someone who took advantage of her ignorance
But crypto got the bad tag.

This project will give pointers to look out for.
I really hope that responses drop fast so the cleaning and validation will commence.
I am as anxious as some others who wants to know

Is it possible to add an "other" option in the type of scam that lets user describe their experience (or other questions)? Who knows, maybe some users don't think their experience can be reflected through your existing options and want to share the details with you. I noticed you have that option on another question, so I wonder why you don't add that. CMIIW.

This is a good survey, OP. I was able to go through it, and I was thinking if you could make some of the answer options from section 4 of the questionnaire till the last a select all option because some questions and the options would likely require one answering to thick good numbers based on their experience for example, the section where you asked members to thick the blockchain they had their scam experience, some people might have had the experience on 2 to 3 blockchains but would be limited to just choose one which they could have ticked them all from your option. Maybe you could allow for multiple-choice answers to your questions, as some of them require such.

I initially tried taking the survey but it was not accessible, so I don't know if there's some kind of regional restriction for the respondents?

Finally: I was able to access the form using VPN, the form is feature rich and I enjoyed filling it out. However here are my suggestions for improvement

  • Ask for particular coin or projects that defrauded the individuals
  • leave an  "All of the above" radio button for some sensitive questions

Leave a checklist instead of radio buttons in the following questions since people may have experience in more than one
  • Chain of networks used my scammers
  • Scammers methods: because some people might have been exposed to more than one

More grease to your elbow in your project.

Scammers methods: because some people might have been exposed to more than one
Most popular scam methods used by scammers and also advice to avoid such scams are in this The cryptocurrency scam book.

If OP loves more details, figures, stats, this report from Chainalysis can help.
2025 cryptocurrency crime report introduction.

OP can try to do his own work but I think above documents are insightful enough.

More recommendations for avoiding scams.

I saw this post in a Telegram group and I filled out the survey and I hope in helps in whatever project you are embarking on. I have been using this forum as a guide to stay safe from scammers and hackers. The Beginner & Help section and our local board have been very helpful as members of this forum are actively reporting different types of phishing, malware, scam and general vulnerabilities.

Not enough attention to telegram scams and bots.

There has been provision for that. You can use the other button.

Thank you for dropping materials for me to look at. They were helpful.
However, this survey is one to go for as there are differences. The of the articles pointed at funds stolen and hidden in crypto. This in itself is an awesome read, though another angle of frauds.
The security and privacy encyclopedia is awsome.
