Why do we keep going back even when the chances of losing is high?

I go back to the casino because I want to gamble and spend some money. Just want to gamble and enjoy the games without having a big intention to chase the win. But I hope to win the money someday. But returning to the casino doesn't need many reasons especially if we just want to play some gambling games. After all, we know gambling can make us lose money. So we at least know the risk but we choose to return to the casino. We will not have a problem with the risk because we can handle it better.

People keep going back because they like the process of gambling. They dont pay attention to losing, money and chances. They just want to test their luck and check if they are lucky today. When they get that info, they might try to do something else. For example if they are lucky in gambling today, maybe they will be lucky if they ask for a raise. I return to playing because I like the process. This is already an inevitable part of watching sport.

Well, I keep coming not because of the loss but because of the entertainment.
I'm not similar to others who are chasing losses trying to recover them. Just like you said, most of the people usually come back for fun.
What fun means to you, like you said, is an excitement. That's why we keep coming back. No matter how much bullsh** it is, this is how people are coming back, at least to me; I don't know about others but I know some people are simlar to mine who had excitement betting in favorite sports.

Because there's always that chance to win. People gamble because there's that prospect of winning. That's the main reason. Whatever a gambler plans with his/her potential winnings, that's secondary. The primary reason is that chance, that hope.

The chance of losing, however high, doesn't discourage gamblers because that doesn't erase the chance of winning. Even if the chance of losing is 99.9% as in mega lotteries, people keep coming back to the ticket booth for tickets. The reason? That chance; that little chance.

As for me, i'd go back because it's for fun purpose. As for others, i believe it's caused by the how they can enjoy hitting by their dopamine so hard, but sometimes i also feel it too.
Every pennies i lost, i don't care, but dopamine something bring you excitement to bet even when you always suffer the lose.

I don't believe that people are going back to gamble because of entertainment like they wanted, many of them went back to make money, they still have some hope left that they will win.

Why do people take some time away from gambling? Because they keep losing too much, so they still have this idea that if they leave gambling for a while things can change to goodluck for them.

Most of the time you just burn away money for nothing, this is why risking the lowest form of money is best, some people knew this but they are not satisfied with what they have.

If someone gambles for those reasons, then they are doing it the opposite way, which can hurt them mentally or financially. I am talking about ideal way to gamble still keep going back still make sense because we know that we will lose money so going back to recover the lost money isn't in the picture of responsible gambling.

And taking a break doesn't means they are doing that to change their luck, probably that is what they intend to do with gambling, once in a while.

I ask myself this same question many times, especially when I reflect after losing… and most of the time I can’t answer it. But when my mind is clear, the answer is simple... I’m trying to win. And the main reason why I keep coming back is because I don’t keep track of my losses, so nothing reminds me of how much I’m already down.

Every day feels like a new day.
I win today, I enjoy the money, cash out.
I lose tomorrow... I stop gambling and come back the next day.

Since I don’t really go through long losing streaks that would completely frustrate me, that’s why I’m still gambling up to now.

I do not gamble daily but I gamble not frequently, I do not think I gamble more than 1 or 2 times in a week. I do not know the reason I keep on gambling but I have good time while gambling which is one of the reasons. Anyone that is not gambling for money but still gambling will notice how fun gambling can still be.

After having a rough and asking myself this question seeing this thread just aligned with what the same situation I find myself in currently...as gamblers we would always want to take chances because we know that there might be a chance of winning but we aren't entirely sure...we never can tell if the next trial would be favorable that is the mindset behind it all, we are just hopelessly optimistic

Wouldn't it be about the reward system that makes you feel that you're happy? The way that slot machines work with the effects and stuff? And how has trading become so easy, and it has that gambling effect? I think it's they target the dopamine release and make you want more. It gives you the need and influence for it.

I know a lot of persons will bring up the opinion that they're gambling for fun so you don't care about how much you loose, bullshit. If we are sincere with ourselves we do care besides there are other games and recreational activities that we could do for hubby that wouldn't make us spend this much in gambling and we are still goingto feel the excitement. So why?

The reason why people keeps trooping back to gambling after loosing or having the knowledge that they might loose and still go back to playing is because they want to win and in as much as they have lost previous games they staked doesn't mean you can't win if they play again so they have to try their luck, that's why they keep playing.

Many people have spend a lot in staking bets and at the end of the game they loose, but as rightly said by you, just a win can cover all the losses one has encountered for a long time if you win. Consistency is also a factor that needs to be considered while gambling, in other for you to win you have to be consistently playing games whether you win or not until the day luck will shine on you and winning comes. Majority of gamblers just wants to bet on games not minding whether they lose or win they just want to have fun and that all. It all depends on the individual involved and what they want.

While this sounds crazy but there are gamblers that are motivated by other gamblers who have won a lot. And that's what they're looking at on why they're continuing to gamble. But we shouldn't be like that, we don't need to be motivated by others victory to justify the wrong decision of continuing. Because if it doesn't suit anymore and we're on a heavy losing streak, that won't define the motivation that we're having and what's happening is we only want to recover our losses which is also indicated in the reasons why we keep on going back.

Exactly, we know for sure that the chance of winning is very minimal while that of losing is very high but we keep pushing simply because we have the believe and hope that we would hit the target one faithful day even though not now, not today, not tomorrow but we will definitely hit it one day  and these are what keep gamblers but this winning will never happen to everyone just some persons will be privilege to hit it big but we just hope. So we are aware of the risky and what we are doing and we don't care what happened but some people do actually give up at some point.

Of all the reasons given, one major driving force behind gamblers consistent gambling even when they are losing is the fact that the wins of others motivate them to try it again with the hope that they might win again or possibly win just like the way others are winning.

If you want to gain a good sense of sanity, then you should never allow the success or failure of others influence how you choose to go about things knowing fully well that you're in your own when things finally happens. You might see someone that wins today and allow it affect you without knowing that before he has won, he probably has lost so many times and that the amount he's won is probably nothing compared to the gross amount he's lost.

It's 2 and 4 for me and just like every gamblers I too believe if I did the right thing, I could ultimately be in profit but if I calculate my win and loss at the moment, I'd be in a large loss.
Gambling is to some extent became a hobby for me and its closely related with my fondness with sports. It's like I can't resist myself from not gambling when I watch the sports I follow. And I have also set goals to complete specially in premier leauge and la liga where I have a detailed plan to have bets on each game day on different outcomes of different teams. The hope of winning someday is what keeps drawing some gamblers back to gambling again and again. To them, it is not about the excitement; they have invested so much into gambling and now all they have left is hope, that one day they will experience what it feels like to win. You can never know how addictive hope can be until you find yourself in a situation where you pray always that today becomes your lucky day because you need the money so badly to change your financial status and upgrade your life. There are actually many scientific reason  why people continue to wager  even when the odds are bad. In particular the effect of near misses is very  powerful. Many people try to recover the money they have lost. Due to the gamblers fallacy, many people believe through body language that they are actually very close to a win after losing

In addition, the process of mental justification is often at work. Gamblers are plagued by dual counterfactuals. Such as  'I could have won more' and 'At least I did not lose more than this'  which create the need for them to gamble again. This process often creates an addictive craving. The urge to compensate for the loss is aroused by something, comparable to the desire for a drug addiction, it creates an intensity of the desire to continue.

So, the matter could  become increasingly complex, not just because  'I want to win'. People can become trapped mentally &  emotionally in a deep trap

For me it's a good activity to unwind, I also find gambling entertaining,  lastly, I get a chance of winning, it is basically a win win for me. I'm not a huge bettor or someone who gambles almost on a daily basis anymore and I only gamble money I can afford to lose so, I don't really get worked up when I lose since loses is not financially debilitating.

One reason why a lot of people are relentless even after losing a lot of times is because they've had near misses. I have experienced this several times and I must say that it always gives me a push to try again. Placing a bet on a parlay.of over 40 games and having a near miss can increase your expectation and make you continue trying to get lucky but it's best to always reduce your expectations

Of a truth, if I'm to check my winning and losing stats, I have lost more than I have ever won from gambling, but that does not still stop me from gambling, not always at the casino, but the few times I gamble, I don't do it because I have a target to meet, nor am I trying to recover what I have lost, but I gamble because I have spare funds to risk.
