The high cost of living has become the biggest problem that is affecting people in our local communities and  families, especially rent, school fees, electricity and many more, all this things keep increasing but our salary doesn't, before they will even pay us salary, you will figure out  that, you've already spend all the money, this has made many people eat from hand to mouth because of much spending, since i started working till date I have not saved any dime, because of other basic needs, this high cost of living has really affected people in so many ways, at times I ask myself where are we heading to, is there any hope for us,  especially we Nigerians

In the US, the high cost of living comes from the banking system. And it is the same for all nations that have a banking system similar to the US. Every so-called loan the banks make, is really a creation of new money. This new money devalues all the money that exists. Think of the $billions the government borrows from the banks.

Big business people understand this, and they raise prices so that they don't lose value. They don't raise wages to match. So, they become wealthier while average people become poorer.

While people still have voting strength, they need to elect government people who will shut down the banking system - the Federal Reserve Bank - and place the money back under the US Treasury like the Constitution says.

This will eliminate IRS income taxes. Why? Because collected IRS money is what determines how much money the government can borrow from the banking system. If the Fed is gone, government won't need to borrow, and the people won't need to be taxed.

OP what you are describing in Nigeria, that feeling of families getting crushed by rising costs, I totally get it.  It is like everyone is just scraping by.  Prices are shooting up faster than paychecks can keep up.  A lot of folks havent seen their salaries budge with how expensive stuff is getting, so they are basically earning less each year, which sucks.

Its the same deal where Im from, and I bet most other countries are feeling it too.  Our leaders brag about how the economy is growing, but thats mostly because people are spending more because things cost more!  But wages are not going up with all that spending, so the average person cant buy as much as they used to.  Honestly, I dont see how this ends well.  Feels like we are heading straight for a massive economic crash and a recession that will drag on forever.

You remember when they say that “the cost of living want to kill the living” the problem wey we dey face for this country pass that one, because no matter how much salary dey you earn monthly before the end of the month, the salary has finished, you will just be wondering how take spend am? Imo, the rise in prices in this country isn’t caused by the government alone… Government policies play a big role, but citizens also contribute in many ways. In some regions you even notice that people increase prices for no real reason, and this makes life harder day by day,so this even varies  depending on the region you find yourself..Government could take stronger actions to control these things but they often leave it as it is.

You’ll even wonder why the cost of commodities is still high despite the recent drop of dollar to naira… everyone used dollar as an excuse, yet even with the drop there’s no major difference compared to when it was at 1700 plus. Once one aspect of the economy is affected it spreads to others because both buyers and sellers depend on it. Still, many things are overpriced in this country and it doesn’t make sense. If the price of food should drop today, people who provide services won’t have any excuse to charge high because of food and so on.

With the rate prices of things are skyrocketing on daily basis and begin to wonder how next year will be, few days back a friend wanted to rent a selfcon and they said the rent was #800,000 total pay was #1,200,000 i was really shocked, if selfcon can be this expensive how will 1,2,3bedrooms be in the coming year, our government has really failed us, that’s why you see youths can’t do certain things early in life because of constant rise in cost of leaving and poor pay. This whole issues started when our governments drifted the economy from agriculture into only crude, ever since the discovery of crude oil in Nigeria things has not remained the same, i reminded when Dollar and Naira was also same far back then but today the gap is unimaginable just because of misplaced priorities, Nigeria borrow money and instead of investing on beneficial projects they end up investing in wasteful ventures just because of selfish interest, the system has become porous, we ain’t producing instead we are the top consumers, every new thing is shipped to Nigeria our own is to consume that’s why prices of things continue going up, as common as chewing stick i doubt is being produced in Nigeria, our government really needs to go back to the drawing board, equip our schools and industries so that we won’t just be consumers anymore but will become producers that is only when this continues hike in prices can reduce, we as citizens also have a role to play, life is all about buying and selling, if you sell cheap to me you will buy cheap from me, when the government increases fuel prices it will make the bus driver increase his fare and the market women will immediately increase prices of pepper and salt and the pyramid of high cost of leaving will increase, it is well.

The high increase in the cost of living in Nigeria is worrisome and I wonder if it's going to get better anyday because the more the day goes by the more the prices of food and other commodities go higher. Most times I wonder how we got here because most of these prices are inflated by the marketers themselves, are we also importing vegetables and pepper into the country that the prices of it goes high too? This are questions that demand answers, we put ourselves under pressure unnecessarily.


Landlords will sit and collaborate on how to increase rents and the middle salary earners can no longer afford to pay because the salaries they earn is small and the responsibilities they carry as families heads is Bucky. How do we survive?, if the government has the interest of the people atleast they would have done rent control on every property to limit the high increase in rent by landlords because it's really getting out of hand, the people can barely feed and this has led to stealing and kidnapping. The only hope we have as Nigerians is to vote out corrupt leaders and replace them with leaders that has vision and the masses at heart.

Honestly the cost of living in Nigeria is getting very high for a the common man. The prices of goods and commodities keeps increasing everyday and as you mentioned, salaries still remain the same with no hope of increasing anytime soon. This is a major issues in Nigeria right now and it's affecting a lot of families. Yes you're correct, "the high cost of living has become the biggest problem that is affecting people in our local community today" and it's because, there is a corruption and greedness amongst politicians in the country, "i don't care" is the second name of leaders in the country, the UN should call the leaders of this for more questions because the citizens are suffering. The current economic system is mainly responsible for this. The process of government money creation through debt is making the rich richer and the poor and middle class poorer and poorest.

This problem cannot be solved in the existing economic system. So the government has to think in a new way. Ordinary people like us cannot actually solve this problem even though we understand what the problem is, in this case Bitcoin can help us and I think Bitcoin can be a big solution to this problem later even though we have not been fully or constitutionally legalized here yet.
