My alt account has sent me 14 merits for this post

Sorry for the clickbait, as he is not my alt but when I've seen the merits I've remembered that my friend AB de Royse777 had suspicions about us being alts.

Between these 14 and one I've gotten later on, I see that I have the round figure of 3,000 merits, which looks nice.

I don't know why you decided to give me 14 merits for that post airfinex, but in any case, thank you. It reminded me of my first tag on the forum (which people can see in my next message in that thread).

I don't know if anything similar has ever happened to you, receiving what I would call weird merits. The closest thing that has happened to me would be discovering that JJG recently gave me a merit for a post written like six months ago on page 4 or so of a thread.

I had 248 merits not so long ago and some nice dude gimme the 2 last remaining merits required to rank up and look what i got, a full 250 merits. No 249, no 251, 250. Straight.

You're right, I had to rub my eyes to see the 3001. I think we're both having temporary vision problems. I don't see 250 merits on you either.

Well you'd need to rub your own eyes as well because yep, you've gotten 3 extra. Although to be fair it was as you made the post it came so maybe you're right.

The first, which I remember was 20kevin20, a very good poster before he left Bitcointalk. He sent it to this topic: Suggestions about the best ways to backup seed phrase. I was new on this forum at the time and I sent him PM. He told me that he has been increasing the merit he is sending to people with 1 merit starting from 1 merit and that I was the 9th person which makes him send me 9 merits.

I also remember dbshck which is a staff on this forum, he did sent me at least 4 merits or higher when I started to post on this forum. He first sent 6 merits but he still sent me more merits.

The highest that I remember was 25 merits from AB de Royse777. A valuable forum member.

Don’t worry about it, you don’t have to explain yourself to anybody. As far as I can see there is no substantial evidence that airfinex is your alt. There are no linked Bitcoin addresses so just ignore anybody trolling you. Congrats on the >3000 Merit milestone.

Even if airbex is the alt of Free Market Capitalist, will he be so stupid to send merits to his alt, let alone 14 merits on a go. There are people I believe cannot do dump things deliberately in the forum.

When I was new in the forum, I received high number of merits on a go. But ever since I became established, even a single merit is hard to come

Not long ago I received 44 merits from @LoyceV which was very strange to me considering the post in question - it turns out the post was only supposed to get 4, but I'm not the only one who accidentally got x10. As for @JayJuanGee, he is known for reading old threads because I have received merits from him many times for very old posts.

However, perhaps the strangest merit I received relates to a post from 2015, sent in March 2018 by @Vod. The man remembered that my post was useful to him, found it and give merit.

For those wondering why he didn't do this back in 2015 - the answer is that there were no merits then.

This mostly happens when you don't even expect them lol. JJG does this all the time, Ddmr² loves to sneak and read too. The moment I read this part, two OGs came through my mind; Miau miau left for good, but Leo?..... That dude passed on with something I may never learn from anyone else for life.

In fact, there are a lot of such "gifts." I remember an old story about someone mistakenly sending merits, after which the sender got upset, and to somehow fix it, the recipient returned them all.

Well, now that you mention it, you've reminded me of something similar, which is that Airfinex ended up leaving a green tag to AB de Royse777 after some argument. The thing is, it doesn't have a reference link but AFAIK it was in a kind of funny, sarcastic way.

I've never been too fond of math - but does it really matter x10 or x11? I hope you fixed your keyboard or got one with AI that will alert you to any strange keystrokes. If there isn't one, maybe someone could invent one - a merits keyboard for BTT with which you will never send more merits than you actually intended.

One thing I'll probably not do is assume the suggestions of the "many others" as incoherent. There's no way 3 or more people would resolve at the same POV, then somehow, I'm the "Theoretical" Albert.
