The senate President, senator Godswill Akpabio has raised concern as regards some senators and other highly
placed Nigerians as regards to the recent announcement by Mr president his excellency Ahmed Tinubu to withdrawal security orderlies of VIPS across the country..according to him,it will be very difficult for some of them to travel home during this Christmas season without security personnels.he however, called on The president to review the decision and restore there security personnel to enable them visit there loved ones during these festive period without fear.i thought they said there no security issues in the country why are they afraid even with there bullet proof SUV cars?

I have never been a fan of the withdrawal of security personnels from top politicians no matter the reason surrounding it, it's not healthy and the president should review the decision, we are know that the country is not safe and this people can easily be kidnapped without this security personnels so the president should call back that verdict he gave. Even with SUV bullet proof cars one can still be kidnapped so don't use that as a yardstick for protection, what if you are ambush with the SUV car and the road is blocked, can one escape that kind of scenero?  The answer is no, so I agree with the Senate President on that.

I clearly understand that most times this politicians use the security personnels to intimidate people but considering the current state of security in the country they should be given security so they can travel safely to their various homes during this festive period. The reason why they told us there is no security issues in the country is because the one that is rocking the country is being sponsored by them and they are beneficiaries to some amount after the bandits have negotiated with the government and ransom has been paid, that's how corrupt Nigeria has become.

Its an interesting situation anyhow you look at it. On one hand the government says there are no major security threats in the country so they withdrew VIP security. Then on the other hand some senators and high proife figures are feeling uneasy travelling without protection especially during this festive period, which is clearly showing the public a very big gap between Official perception of the country from the government and personal perception of risk.
Personally, this just raises questions about trust in national security. If the country is truly safe, then high-ranking officials travelling without armed escort should not be a problem but as they feel unsafe without security, it obviously reflects the underlying concerns that we ordinary citizens also have.

That tells you the level of thinking this leaders have, so immediately their police orderly are removed they're feelings insecured but the average Nigerian works on the streets everyday without any security architecture on our social engineering and our day to day life's. The number of security that are attached to politicians are in a great number, even the figures they are giving us that 11,000 policemen are on special duties, sincerely I think they are being economical with the truth, the number of policeman guiding politicians and private individuals is more than that figure, and that is why the President have seen the need for him to call them back to the stations for them to mount checkpoints and strategic locations for effective policing to take place.

It is in the hands of these politicians to ensure and fight any form of insecurity in the country but they failed to do this because they feel their own security and safety is guaranteed. We can all see the level of insecurity in the country and it is mostly affecting the masses, the politicians and the rich people move with escort and does not think of the safety and the security of the masses. If the politicians are doing the write thing, why should they be afraid? Almost everyone are against them and hardly you see any politician talking about the welfare of the common Nigerian, all they know is just only their welfare.

If the mind of the politicians are clear and they feel they are doing well, I think their is no need to be afraid . Let them feel free and travel to where ever without security.

What's your take on the issue

The Senate president and his colleagues who are pleading with the President Tinubu to reinstate back their security personnels are embarrassing the president. Tinubu visited the Senate to present the Budget and not to be talked about the withdrawal of their security personnels. Tinubu didn't just withdraw their security personnels,the president had provided them with an alternative, apply to NCDC for escorts. If there are moving without security operatives,they do so at their own risk because Tinubu has ask them to apply for NCDC.

This has just exposed how contradicted the system is, because if the country is really safe as been claimed, why can't they travel without security personnel for just this short period of time that won't be a big deal na, imagine with the bullet proof SUV and other protections they're still afraid.

This fear they are expressing now only confirms that's what the ordinary Nigerian faces every day without an escort.

But on the other hand everyone has the right of safety, including our so called leaders. Come to think of if leadership means sharing in the same people's experience.
Because you can't say there is no insecurity and still yet you are afraid of travelling.This shows that the problem of insecurity is still there and the leaders should  be honest and also lead by example very important.
