A December 26 posting on the same platform, this time from Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, confirmed that the Trust Wallet security team was still investigating how hackers were able to submit a new version of the browser extension, and that $7 million had been affected by the incident at that stage of the investigation. “User funds are SAFU,” Zhao said, referring to the Binance Secure Asset Fund for Users, an emergency insurance fund, adding that “Trust Wallet will cover” any losses.
