Personally if an expert observes such strange behavior regarding my gambling habit and seek to help obviously I will gladly accept the free consultation, certainly there’s a date fixed so I don’t get affected with work and other activity. Although many will not understand the implication that comes with these offer firstly change must be seen in order to make the friend happy else any intention outside gambling responsibly I will advise not to accept.

Yes I will take the consultation, sometimes you may think you are doing just fine until you get consultation and your actual diagnosis tells that you need some attention, the advantage you will eb having at that point will be one of an early detection, so effective remedies can be applied almost immediately without having you to suffer for not detecting it early enough, you may then require more time to get help if the need be.

Why not? We shouldn't ignore other people opinions, and don't feel like we are always right. Therefore, we need to accept their opinions, especially if they are professionals, and offer free consultations. There is no harm in accepting them. Consulting isn't a waste of time; it is part of making good use of your time. Actually, we need to do consultation even if it is paid (if we can afford it) even though we feel fine in gambling, it could be that we are actually making mistakes about ourselves.

Since it can be useful for us, why not to accept the offer of a free consultation? People who are difficult to trust other people's advice is possible to reject it. Moreover if someone is very confident that he is free of addiction symptoms. And I am sure that no all addicts want to seek for the help, many of them aren't aware that they are addicted. Some of them may realize it, but they ignore it.

I mean i feel like anyone who has a gambling problem would probably flee from that and even if they didnt they probably wouldn't take it well but honestly for me personally I would decline because I dont have any such issues. If I had a friend who was addicted to gambling, I would advise them to attend the consultation, even though it might embarrass them, but at least it would be for their own good. If I found a free consultation nearby, I would attend even though I feel fine. I would take advantage of it to increase my knowledge so that when a friend of mine becomes addicted, I can use what I have learned from the consultation to help them change for the better.
I usually take advantage of things like this. When I see something free that leads to positive outcomes, there's no harm in participating, especially since the discussion is similar to the habits I like to do.

Somehow, this is the difficult part, how to know if you really needed a help? Because what if you are just telling yourself you don't need it, because you are not addicted to gambling yet? This is the tricky part.

I think there is no fixed age and limit for acquiring knowledge. I know that gambling addiction is harmful and I am well prepared for it, but there are many things that I may be missing from my knowledge. Therefore the advice of experienced consultants can certainly be important to increase the scope of knowledge. Many of us buy books and spend money to get good and useful advice. If we can get it for free it will definitely be interesting and everyone should take the advice of experts to increase their knowledge.

I think I will skip, not because I think it's useless but because I know no course can make me win. Yeah, these courses are good to control your gambling but then I'm well in control of how much I gamble with so don't need it anyways.

That said, I think a lot of users on bitcointalk might badly need such course because a lot of them are addicted. No one will admit it, because it feels odd to say I am addicted to gambling. It's good to see so many people agreeing to take the course since it's free and they see no harm in learning, which is amazing really. Also depends what the course is about and whether it's about how to gamble or in general about how to be in control of it.

If I feel that I have been playing excessively, I would seek that consultation, especially since it is free, there's no harm in it, right? In my country, free consultations are already available at regional health centers, and medication may even be provided, although it is general and not entirely about gambling. Unfortunately, the promotion of these free consultations is not very good, so not many people are aware of them.

Usually gambling addiction is very hard to detect by relatives and friends, and by the time they notice the person who is gambling is in deep problems and debts. So if his addiction was noticed by someone (doctor in your example) he is probably deeply into it.

So my advice is to go to consultations and hear what the doctor has to say, and see if it all makes sense then follow his recommendations.

If it's free, why not? Even if we're not addicted to gambling, I think this is a great opportunity for personal safety. Another reason is that I enjoy gambling myself, even though I feel fine with it. My gambling doesn't cause me significant losses and there's no excessive behavior. Why dont you do attend this consultation to support your close friend? (that was mentioned in the first post) Lets say your friend wants to test his knowledge, maybe he is shy or wants to gain some confidence before he will start taking first real clients? Even if you will hear some basics about addiction, even if you will hear something you already know, it aint bad to repeat things like that. Such anti-addiction reminded might help you one day.

If I am very addicted to gambling and my friend offers me free advice at a dating clinic, I will definitely accept it.  If I do not want to get rid of my addiction or I do not think it is necessary to stop gambling, then I will reject his advice. But if I fall into addiction and think it is necessary, then I will definitely accept his offer. But I do not think most gamblers easily admit their addiction. Not only the basis of advice, but also a strong mental determination towards myself is needed. Thank you to those who participated in this topic and this poll. The majority of us here will take a free consultation, which, for me, is the right approach in this case of self-assessment, especially when it comes to gambling.
Sometimes we fail to see the obvious because we prefer not to.
