I don't really know why people always think about committing suicide after they've lost money in gambling. It's never worth taking one's life. Now, someone has committed suicide, and people are still talking badly about him. If he hadn't committed suicide, the worst they could have done is punish him, and he would have started living his life again after serving his sentence. Or his family would have to pay.

Not all students that's smart, if this story is genuine or real, it means that the guy is not a smart boy....debt can be repaid within 2 years duration but death can not be re-announced with two years interval

I feel so bad whenever I see posts about people committing suicide just because of gambling loss. I don’t know why people are always gambling with huge amounts of money which will make them think committing suicide is the only option whenever they lose. It is always very sad to see news like this especially when you start thinking about his last though process and how he just gave up hope, many of us may not understand but it is a very bad and dangerous place to be. It is always good to talk with someone when depression and mental challenges set in because it is in this stage that suicidal thoughts start creeping in and one doesn't make clear and precise decisions.
Am sure the gambler who committed suicide made a bet on a different kind of gambling game, because there are so many types out there and the promises of a huge win may be more advertised, thus people think that's where their glory lies.
Am sure the gambler in question also wasn't aware of the sentence that says, gamble with only funds you can afford to lose, otherwise he would have thought twice about the amount he used and restrategize in a way that the loss can be accepted.

A 300L university student reportedly commit suicide after losing money to gambling. From the story going viral, he was made the caretaker of the Lodge he was residing in by the landlord. He remitted just small amount of money from the money he collected from the fellow students occupying the lodge as tenants and reportedly use the remaining to gamble.

I saw this news and to be honest i learnt a lot from it.

They keep repeating it almost every day in this forum for us to avoid them. I might assume that he's a professional gambler, which gave him the confidence to bet with that kind of money, but what led him to take his own life was using someone's funds and in Nigerian currency this is a huge amount, which I think he doesn't have any alternative to pay back. But in my opinion suicide is never a solution. Although there's another news report I read regarding this that he didn't commit suicide that he was murdered, and currently the police are under investigation. But whatever the case maybe we should know this is one of the effects of what gambling can cause because I believe there are several news we've seen in the past concerning those who committed suicide because of gambling.

I don't know what could be the consequences for what he did in his local community (gambling and losing third party's funds), but I suspect it could be something quite serious, since he decided going into the route he took instead.

We don’t really know what happened inside his head, but it’s not new that some people end up taking their own lives because of financial problems. This case is even more serious, since he didn’t just ruin things for himself, he also dragged other people into it by taking money that wasn’t his.

His addiction probably pushed him to do that, because if he were thinking clearly, he would know there’s no guaranteed winning in gambling. Once you lose, it’s very hard to fix the problem. But in that moment, he was likely too hyped about winning and didn’t even consider the possibility of losing.

Yeah it's not new and it shouldn't be common for people to take their life due to a failed bet they had. No amount of loss is worth forfeiting ones life for irrespective of what humiliation that may follow upon others learning about  the stupid financial loss.

This night at the conclusion of the UCL games tonight my friend sent me a WhatsApp message lamenting about his huge losses from yesterday and today's games in the UCL, the tone of the words were really from a bitter heart. All I could do was to put a call to him in repeat of my advise I have being lending him, which is to always gamble with what he can feel free to lose. This is how some people use their greedy fast way of making money without thinking of the bad consequences to affected themselves. Just gamble with small amount of money is very important to be known. He just put his family into sadness. But the thing is some people will not still use this to learn.

Before I came across the information on the forum I saw it on a page on Instagram. it has now become a normal occurrence for people to juat take their life when something goes wrong with them, it just tells you how sick the society has become. like you said, people aren't really going to learn from other people's experience, more stories are going to keep coming because people lack self control.
