I think people have been burnt a bit too much lately, to even consider such investment, most would like to get some losses back 1st and then....maybe.
Many IPO's left people with a fat lip and an empty pocket, Edgecoin and NFD coin are good examples, Limecoinlight did not perform well either.
With respect to NFD, you're right in the sense that it was a scam when the scamdev was running its IPO back in April and May. But after he grabbed the BTC and ran, a team of victims (incl. myself) got together and brought it to launch and distribution:

https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=653599.0But I want to emphasize that the NFD rebirth is a first-of-its kind story - and everyone should assume it's a one-of-a-kind story unless
shown otherwise. I was scammed in the original NFDCoin IPO; that's why I joined the team. But I was also scammed on Edgecoin, Multicoin and AlterEgo coin. For those three scams, the scamcoins died as per usual. You're bang-on about scams becoming more frequent nowadays, to the point where many people are getting tired, jaded and leery.
And yes, I was scammed on Sharecoin. I bought 100,000 of them for ~0.45 BTC in total. Truth be told, I was seriously hoping that Sharex would be the first to list NFD at the time Ziplibrary took off. So much for that wish...
