What can we expect from NEM being a "private/public" blockchain?
What are the positive and negative aspects of this, instead of a full public blockchain?

There is reason in the corporate world for a private blockchain, mainly for privacy reasons, but mijin offers higher transaction speed along with lower costs, as they pay a subscription rather than paying fees that compound up, of course for smaller businesses, NEM works out much cheaper, so its all relative to its use.

Both chains use the same API's so switching between is not hard, it also demonstrates the technology behind NEM, since Mijin is based on NEM technology.

In other words, we have the best of both worlds!  Cheesy

Hi all,

BrainofMasses got me as far as synching against a NEM Node from the explorer.  When I import the private key from the email, I get a different address than what's stated in both the email and the .adb

I'm showing

NAFXXT-3TXOSY-O2UAZD-WIJYWL-MO2BU6-3OUEYL-APSM

My email and ADB says it should be

NBJFNVMVKOWHSW5Y6TYTTEPMTTZSMGXPLAH74EL6

Thanks for all the advice guys, still plugging away. Forgot my password like a dumb ass, but locked away private key so that should be enough I'm told.  After importing the private key, I hit the drop down box and still don't see the ADB address.

I also found a .kdbx file called NEM, not sure if that helps. Smiley

PM me please.

Solved!! Will be sending out reward along with .1 btc to a few people that also submitted ideas. Will post in a bit, thank you thank you thank  you... amazing helpful community!!

Brainofmasses received the .5 BTC bountry, PMd him the confirmation. Also sending tolikkk, rigel, teletobi and BloodyRookie 0.05 BTC for their messages.  Thanks everyone.

Stop selling your stake, dude! you ruin that beautiful flat price line!

I've kept like 500k (wallet and polo), and plan to rebuy in another 500k for an even million long term.

Do you plan on cashing out? Wow, I don't have close to 500k.

There were 2740 Stakeholders that got 2.25 Million initially.
Sad to see, that only about 1/4 of the stakeholders kept more than 10% of their stake...
I hope that all those dumpers shit their pants, if nem is heading higher :-)

Same here Smiley Believed in this project since the start and now it is showing what the team has been working so hard on.

I think there are more inital stake holders with a significant part of their share than you may think. And otherwise they have been transfered to holders that intend to hold for now, as only about 100 million are on the sell side orderbooks, which is hardly 2% of the total supply.

Sounds good still. Smiley its been months since i got my XEM but seem like the price ain't going to go up even with such a good marketcap.
Was even thinking for dumping it to buy the more aggressive new token.  Grin

Im glad if I was able to help.

Thank you very much for the generous bounty.

Halve of the paid bounty goes directly back into the funds of the PCG, to increase quality of prices and to reach new target groups in the future to help spreading the word on NEM.

Information about the PCG can be found on NEM´s forum at forum.nem.io

I once had NCC and NIS running for over 24 hours with no fees earned, on another time I earned 72 XEM after running for 2 hours, and another time 6 xem for running for a day or so.

Can NIS running on its own with the NCC shutdown continue to locally harvest in the background, or does NCC need to be open?
Are there any security risks to delegated harvesting as opposed to local harvesting?
Are you likely to earn more fees from delegated harvesting than local harvesting?

Only bought. Never sold. I think our pumping fun might be over for now. Let's see where it settles. No doubt there'll be more in the future.

I own more than I did at launch too.  Even up until a week or two ago I was still buying little bits here and there and very well might do so in the future.  I'm really looking for a nice payday at $0.10 or higher in 2017.

some might think that is crazy, but...

In February of 2014 a lot of (lucky/risky) investors donated around $25 (some more and some less) worth of btc or NXT in hopes of helping NEM and joining the Nemesis block.  https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=440185.msg4903908#msg4903908

For those that stuck around and redeemed their coupon, they were rewarded with a launch marketcap of around $2.5 million during the first week.  That was $625 per person.  From $25 that was a whopping 25x increase on their money for patiently waiting 14 months (which is a looooooooong time in crypto years).

For some months after that launch NEM slowly drifted down as many people sold, but also the NEM developers were quietly working in the background, just as they still are.

Some 14 months after launch we can look at the marketcap today of about $63m and see that since that original launch marketcap of $2.5m, NEM has gone up ANOTHER 25x in another 14 months

One time can be an accident.  Two times means there is something there.  But if NEM repeats this growth again over the next 14 months, we can safely say that this is real.

All numbers in this post can be checked on Coinmarketcap. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nem/

On my VPS this is a reason why there is NCC and NIS. NIS is for harveting just boot it with priv key normal or delegated.

...
Are there any security risks to delegated harvesting as opposed to local harvesting?

If someone will get your private delegated harveting he can harvet for you but not more he have zero control over your founds in real wallet.
Since sup[ernode is registered by normal acc with normal priv jey attacer can do nothing to you ah he can harverst for you but he wont get ANY of your XEM.

Are you likely to earn more fees from delegated harvesting than local harvesting?

There is a no diffrence
Delegated is for seciurity reason which is pain in 99% other POS type coins where you have to expose you prive key.

Hi guys, I have a rather stupid question about delegated harvesting:

When I activate delegated harvesting and set a remote NIS, what's left to be running on my computer??
NCC doesn't harvest, NIS does - and NIS is set to remote.
So this would mean I can go completely offline and the remote server is "doing all the work"?
Not getting my head around this... why would you even be getting rewards if the computational power is outsourced 100% (Not that I would be complaining though)?

Thanks for your help!

Delegated harvesting means you create a new account with zero balance that harvests instead of your main account.

Delegated harvesting makes it safe to harvest on someone else's node or on a vps; it doesn't mean this automatically happens.

With NCC you have to choose a remote server and start harvesting on it.
If you did this you can shut down your NIS and your NCC.

Beware: if remote NIS is restarted you stop harvesting on it.
You better check it from time to time with your NCC.
