Its bitcoin value may double, but as bitcoin falls -- which it will -- the fiat value of nem remains the same. you gain nothing.

As i've said many times, bitcoin is heavily dominated by chinese influence and as china did before back in 2013, they'll pump and dump the markets with their annoucements while simultaneously owning a bigger and bigger share of the mining power within it, thereby dominating bitcoin and possibly threatening alts with it. if people think this is a good thing for crypto, they're very naive. no government is going to want to see a governmentless currency suceed, but they will manipulate it for their gains until they dispose of it. particularly communist china.

The Chinese market is now effectively toothless. The only reason we got these Bitcoin gains is because its relentless dumpathon was taken out of contention. It's not coming back either with the introduction of fees and controls on leverage.

The last thing they have to threaten everyone else is coming down heavily on mining.  At this stage it's possible the rest of the world would be delighted if Chinese mining was strangled even if there were short term wobbles.

Ugh this is killing me!

I know it shouldn't-NEM has already exploded in value and I've done well on it. And I'm a long-term investor so I'm committed to staying in for at least a year and a half.

The current price action is discouraging though-and as gentlemand pointed out it's annoying that NEM isn't getting the hype it deserves compared to Ethereum, Ripple, etc.

Remember the pump last year? Honestly I thought it wont go any higher anytime soon. Look at where it is now. Give it more time, Xem actually still has the best ROI among altcoins (from January 2016 till today)

Loads of projects are based on ethereum but there are none on Nem

Really? If I'm looking at coinmarketcap.com now and comparing TOP6 coins, XEM has the biggest fall from all of them in %24h and %7days column. But on the other hand, this fall isn't much more dramatic than by the other coins.

I wonder why he did not create a new account. Could somebody remind me what was his role in Nem, he was simply a community manager or he was taking part in development?

although it appears to be him, i'm not ruling out the possibility that it's a compromised account.

In addittion to this, but even if it is the real guy, he's hardly got a good reputation considering the reasons he left nem.
