In my area price on electricity went down a bit, which is nice.
Just 6c/kwh plus ~4c/delivery/kwh comparing with current 6.7c/kwh and same for delivery.
I read somewhere that electricity prices are projected to decline 24-36 mo out.

0.4w/GH? unlikely.

More likely is an S2-style miner that packs 4TH/3kW into a 4U case, with 4 separate coolant loops.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

Anecdote: I noticed overnight that all my S3's failed to honor the failover settings when the primary pool went "Dead". (Running latest-and-greatest Bitmain S3+ firmware)

Woke up to all my S3's sitting cool and idle this morning. S2's were hashing away like champs running Kano's K2 firmware, honoring the failover settings.

Hitting "Save and Apply" on the miner configuration page got things working well again on the S3's switching to the next available server.

Here's an updated S3 binary.

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/antminer/s3/4.6.1-141020/cgminer

Recommended if you're mining on p2pool for the default binary actually discards stale shares which you should never do, especially on p2pool. Also includes changes to queuing and memory usage that were necessary on S4 but probably only of minor benefit here. Recommend you edit the cgminer startup script to remove the --queue value entirely, and add --lowmem. Performance should be pretty much unchanged.

Any updated for s2 miner my friend
I've never had access to an S2 but I could probably make a binary blindly if you wish to try it yourself.

EDIT: Done. I posted it in the S2 support thread. https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=515448.msg9259216#msg9259216

So far so good - I noticed mdudes antmonitor no longer reports the diff value, did something change?

Lowmem stops showing the diff, so perhaps that's why.

Is it just me or did the LSTime stop reporting?
EDIT: The time is not an issue for me. Thank you CK for taking the time to help the S3 units.

Yup, gotcha. Load has increased a little - it used to be around the 1.7 mark, but now sits around the 2 mark, not that it bothers me at all. I'll let it run a few hours to settle down......

Thanks for this ck, will report back later with any findings  Wink Smiley

Also affected by use of lowmem, but it shouldn't be (i.e. that's a bug). It is optional to use lowmem, you can disable it. I was just recommending it generically since S* controllers are very low powered.

Hi

My front fan has stopped working. I've had on and off trouble with this S3 since I got it but it was hashing 95% of the time.

When I switch on the PSU the fan runs for 4/5 seconds and stops. Red LED is flashing. The unit will run 'til it overheats which of course I don't let it anymore.

I'm reluctant to open the box incase I void the warranty. I 've come across similar problems with fans on this thread but no reason or fix. Does anyone have one, thanks.

swap the rear fan to the front for 2 reasons, you will know if the fan is bad or the board and, the front fan doe most of the cooling...

I've tried to wade through this thread, but I guess it's just easier to ask.  Huh

I've just got an S3 (used), so what's the story with firmware?  Does ck's latest cgminer work better than the standard firmware on the S3?  I've not had time to try the miner at all, so I just want to get going ASAP with minimal fuss.

I'm probably mining on p2pool (my own node).

I think it depends on which batch it's from? My batch 2 is not as good as my batch 5 miners but I have not changed any firmware on any of them. I did bump up the freq on the batch 5 miners to 225 and get 450+GH out of them.
