You dont need the API key mate also for your miners command line: minerd.exe -a m7mhash -o stratum+tcp://address.of.pool:3333 -u poolusername.workername -p workerpassword just pop the address of your chosen pool (usually under help> get started) then your poolusername is your user account on the pool, the workername i believe you have already found and the workerpassword is the password you have set for your worker (dont make this your user account password) minerd.exe -a m7mhash -o -t 14 stratum+tcp://address.of.pool:3333 -u poolusername.workername -p workerpassword You can use the above to throttle the miner a bit (note the -t ) if your actively using your PC, mine has 16 threads and i use this one to check my emails so i run it on 14 threads so its not unresponsive when i need to use it Thx for the reply! More questions if you don´t mind. Why :3333? Does it make a difference what port you are running on? How do I work out how many threads my PC can "afford"? How do I get my shares confirmed? At the mo, in Suprnova they aren´t confirmed and I have no idea how long that normally takes. And once they are, what happens then? Magi is a model that is gonna appeal to many, IMHO, and many are gonna be as dim as me about all of this! I´m happy to help write a Magi FAQ for Dummies if reqd.....

3333 is the port of the server you are connecting to from the pool you want to use suprnova its actually 7128, use this link to ensure your putting the right info in: https://xmg.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=gettingstartedctrl alt del and choose task manger, then click performance tab and look for the section under the graph that lists logical processors, that gives you how many and you can just experiment...say you have 8 use -t 4 and in theory your CPU utilization should be around 50% when mining. BUT if you have an i7 you can probably switch it up to around 75% utilization and still have a decent amount left for using the computer Magi shares are confirmed every 120 blocks i believe so once the block count is > 120 blocks above the block your shares were mined in they should become confirmed shares, once they are confirmed they are added to your confirmed amount, then paid out once your confirmed amount of magi exceeds your set payout amount (click your username top right, choose settings, and on that page is your payout threshold and payment address)

and you can just experiment...
Once someone explains it, I definitely can. Cheers muchly. Sorry to be a pita. Am trying to grasp the fundamentals, and read all 1100* pages of the thread, but this is a learning cliff! *It will be 1100 before ere long and long before I have read even half of it!

Are there any bounties / rewards for optimizing the mining code? Or is it just a few emoji's and a pat on the back?

Answers below Why :3333? Does it make a difference what port you are running on? If you are a pool, no, if you are a miner - it must be a port which the pool is listening on - the pool will explain which port(s) is/are are availableHow do I work out how many threads my PC can "afford"? Just increment the thread count and record your hash rate - a but of trial and error - for me 8 was a good number - others are using 16 others only 4How do I get my shares confirmed? At the mo, in Suprnova they aren´t confirmed and I have no idea how long that normally takes. And once they are, what happens then? Just wait, you should see some confirmed shares once you hit a threshold or a certain time has passed, after then you can withdraw to your wallet - most setup an auto withdraw function in the poolMagi is a model that is gonna appeal to many, IMHO, and many are gonna be as dim as me about all of this! Has anyone else noted the big miners are kinda countering the magi model?
they hammer the hash, the reward drops, they hashrate drops by 60% until the reward comes back up and they just re-appear again? so it doesnt really seem to be stopping them. I cant fathom why they are bothering, with the power they have i would think they would be CPU mining monero its alot more profitable with the magi rewards sitting at 1xmg per block for 80% of the time now
Unfortunately, this is the status with the latest version of wallet. Mining with 120Kh returns nothing since the big miners are there waiting to get everything. I like XMG but like most CPU coins the return it’s too low to keep mining. Now you don’t know what the return will be. But I can also understand that modifying wallet so soon it’s not a good idea. The coin is stable again and needs time before any modification.

Can someone please explain the dynamics of Magi to me?
I have been studying it for a while now, but I have yet to figure out what causes the regularity of it's spikes. They don't follow a logical pattern that I am able to tell.
It there someone that pump and dumps this coin that causes the 12k satoshi spikes or what?
If there are market makers in this forum I would like to team up with them. I have major investors coming down the pipeline and want to buy at under 5000 and sell at over 7500 each time. I don't like getting stuck in long buy-HODLs as I need to be doing these trades quick or I will only be able to devote a smaller % to this coin as a medium or longer term hold.
Please someone help me understand this coin better. I do not understand the mechanisms behind its regularity of spikes, and why lately it hasn't had any major ones.
Can anyone give me an in depth analysis?
Thanks I appreciate it.
I just want to understand and possibly team up with market makers in this coin to coordinate our efforts. These investors pack a nice wallup. I'd love to use it in service of this coin but I do not understand the mechanics required to aide in market making on this unique coin.
Anyone want to team up who can guide me and teach me how to do this right for all our benefit?
Starman....are you someone who could teach me the ways of Magi coin? I want to use my funds responsibly and bleed, not dump. Spike, but not so much short pump.....know-what-I-mean-Vern?
Thanks!
