Windows users are reporting problems with the GUI on GitHub. The article at Bitcoin Magazine reporting only 2% adoption of Monero on AlphaBay was lower than expected.

Windows user here ... having no issues at all. Restored wallets, created wallet, sent funds, received funds, all good so far. Can you post a link to the issues others are having ?

same here, just did a first purchase from the GUI... went perfect...

A couple of hours after gui release and the price is back to what it was yesterday. Was hoping for a bit more of a bump up....

I understand, but look at poloniex, XMR is the only green in a sea of red...

ok except for the ZEC-scam... but that's just another bounce in the ugliest bear I have ever seen IMHO...

best regards

This is the 'speculation thread' you know? Not the 'let's blow smoke up ourselves' thread. Just because some of us would like to see xmr go up in value, that does not make us 'parasitic free riders' - especially those of us who have contributed hundreds of xmr in response to calls to fund core development projects.

And yes, very happy with the gui  Grin

with me same. I was actually surprised syncing uses so little of my memory. from 100-150kb so i can do on my 4 years old computer other things while syncing,  that i can never do when syncing Bitcoin or Ethereum wallet.

And 2016’s best-performing commodity is ... bitcoin?

The cryptocurrency is up more than 100% this year

I thought it dipped below 100 last December didn't it?

Definitely expected the GUI announcement to do more for the price in the short term.
Not concerned tho. I'm in it for the long-haul. Hopefully this will do more to steadily increase the userbase, which is what we really need anyways.
If we can get some more vendors and websites to start accepting XMR as payment, the sky is the limit IMO.

Ah so scaling Monero is not a sure thing it will be a success afterall. I do not mean anything negative by it. I still support Monero as long as the developers stay on the path of research and that they are here for the grand experiment of cryptocoins.

I do not believe anyone has claimed a sure thing. These are all experiments.

A comment like this that is coming from a person from the development team is very much appreciated. Honesty is a rare trait in the cryptosphere these days and it is good to see that the good ones are still around. I hope your pursuit of finding a solution for bitcoin's shortcomings will be successful.

The MAC GUI was very easy to setup and use. I have been using a remote node and then just using the CLI wallet until now.

1) Downloaded it and dragged it to my applications folder.
2) When opened, I used the file explorer to point it at my wallet.keys
3) Set the daemon to point at my remote node address and port

And that was it - It was up and running, showing my balance, telling me it was connected and showing my previous transactions (something which I'd never bothered to figure out with the CLI) . This is a really excellent GUI for noobs!

Well done Monero Devs! You Rock! Thank you!

XMR stands in the storm of the BTC rise.
So when the BTC correction starts it will be even more interesting.  Cool

I love a good Barolo...  But the Amarone had to do Wink

Haven't actually tried the GUI yet as I am not at home, only on a laptop.

Will buy a Barolo this afternoon and toast it when it's up and running on my home Mac.

Well done to the devs, we're all grown up now and holding up amazingly with BTC over 900....

I love my XMR!

Just took out a short position. Will add more to shorts when GUI hype strengthens, if ever.

The timing of the release event is fortuitous though.

My personal preference was to short before the beginning of january and let it topple down the well with no fundamental improvements, which would have been a classy opportune trade allowing to profit off the imminent V-shaped bottom. Anyways...

The GUI thing is what I call marketing elitism. U know why. People like me, wanting to use the GUI, compiled it themselves months back. Getting the shit popping when china rushes for the new bitcoin ATH is perfectly in tune with my mid-term bitcoin price forecast, which turns monero into paradise for shorts. So keep fishing for idiots who need ur GUI.

The bitcoin rally might end up into epic Monero price both in terms of bitcoins and especially in terms of fiat. I see no reason why the price of Monero could not reach 0.10-0.30 btc during the peak and bitcoin at 3000 makes Monero a 300-900 dollar per coin.

Very short term, maybe. Longer term, margin call.
