Oct 2020   501,273 transactions.  Wow.  Better than 25% up from September, and also from ATH @ May 2020.  Let's finish this price dip and get on with it!

How long can Monero really stay competitive when there are other coins transacting 20-times faster and with privacy that is just as good if not better?  I speculate that Monero will have to undergo a serious overhaul if it wants to keep up with emerging technologies.  If not, it will drift away and be forgotten.

Hi, can you suggest some new coins which are faster with better privacy?

Ok, then please list the coins were transaction times are 20 times faster (180 to 540 seconds / 20 = 9 to 27seconds) and have the equal or better privacy, i´ll get my popcorn in the meanwhile  Grin

I've read multiple estimates and even used monero for several transactions back in 2014.  It's 20+ minutes for a transaction.  Simple math of 20x faster comes down to about a minute.  Mimblewimble is far better privacy because of cut through and dandelion so there are no externally visible addresses or amounts and it's impossible to trace.  The best iteration of mimblewimble for the purposes of private use money is Epic Cash.  It's extremely fast with a 60-second block time and I've seen transactions execute in a few seconds.

I'm surprised you had to ask given my signature block.

I would say Epic Cash is about where Monero was in 2014.  Still a little clunky on the UI but bleeding edge technology as Monero was in 2014.  Epic is just better technology.  Just how tech moves.

Monero has 2 minute block times and it has Dandelion too. And no, Mimblewimble is not private at all - everything can be traced with real-time logging of transactions.

XMR at the end of 2020 doesn't have much left of MRO from 2014.  You might have a bit of catching up to do.

You are refering to 2014 so your base is 6 years old until today and you honestly want to tell us, that this mimblewimble thing is accurate? I think you are the one who has to do the reading and has to get a hold of latest technology but maybe this is also the fact why Moneros protocol is copied in many other coins then your epic pac man thing.

Yup just lost the 0.01 battle for now - BTC popped over $12K.

Looks like this is going to be ugly  Roll Eyes

Well, we just lost that unnecessary extra zero again.  I would be very happy if we can hang on over that level for now...  But I will grant you it could go either way.

Bitcoin just took a chunk out of alts and gained in dominance, which is kind of inevitable in this bullish phase - and it's been carnage in altland, but hey, Monero often slingshots up after a BTC run steadies.  Let's see if it can weather this storm.

I don't like it, but my magic chart has low 0.0080's to low -90s until early December.  If it goes below that, it just says 'you have no maps of this area'.  Stupid magic chart anyway.

Well to be honest i expected that for next next week, so i think there will be healing for a weeks time, but as i said. If BTC is gaining dominance above €11k we could revisit low 0,008's -maybe even sub 0,008's in November so i just adjusted my buy orders  Roll Eyes Grin

If using of Monero will increase with the pace as it did so far, specially in October until the network upgrade, then I simply dont see so ow numbers to happen.
In last few days we saw how bad can bugs be in protocol upgrades. Monero ecosystem grow a lot. Even that bug was patched in half day that did not magically update all Monero ecosystem immediately. Some exchanges still dont work. Or at least did not yesterday. Monero had luck to be small and was able to have these updates twice a year. Now is getting bigger and bigger and that will continue maybe even faster now.

The sync bug did not affect nodes that are online continuously, which is standard procedure for basically every service and exchange. Furthermore, the Monero network continued to operate normally. To reiterate, the following nodes got affected:

- A new node that syncs from scratch.
- Existing node that is currently offline and would like to sync soon.

Furthermore, the bug was fixed swiftly and a new release (that included the fix) was made available within a day.

Additionally, people tend to forget that exchanges and services typically impose a temporary suspension of withdrawals and/or services around a network upgrade as precautionary measure.

I personally feel that people misunderstand the gravity of the recent sync bug and resultantly are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Agreed, i also think that the sstem is working properly and on top of a minor bug there is made hysteria to some extend that i do not get  Roll Eyes Wink

So, we already visited the 0,008's before November, so i guess we will see sub 0,008's in the next 10 days, adjust your buy orders  Wink

Just adjusted my buy orders to low 0,007's coming at the end of next week  Grin Wink

Yup. I hope this time we will not wait half year to improve this record number, but will be breached already next month. Somehow I suspect my wish will come true. Next year we will be chasing 1 million a month. The moment when Bitcoin reach 20k and world media put all reflectors on it, Monero transactions will get additional boost.

Yeah?  K...  How about this.  Since you came here challenging XMR..  Convince us which cryptocurrency project is better at what XMR does.  And not just some straight bs shilling with a white paper.  I mean reeeaally convince us.
