while the petition probably wont change anything directly, it should get a sliver of their attention and so could be a baby step towards getting them to adopt. many big corps will take a long time to decide these things, its unlikely a single event or action will get it done in one easy swoop, its probably going to take a combination of efforts and factors and theyll probably decide on it only after a few months of their own research. i dont doubt that a 5k person petition will pop up on their radar and with some luck plant a seed which might get a ball rolling somewhere down the line.

Seriously.. Amazon knows about Bitcoin. They don't see it as a good direction at this point. When they do, they will start accepting it. Petitions won't do anything, and hitting the 5000 signature mark is meaningless.

Maybe because they havent had 'enough' requests from their customers.
Trust me, good retailers listen to their customers. I worked for quite a few over the years and Ive been to plenty that do and dont listen. The results are predictable.
While 5k signatures probably wont get the whale off the beach, its will register on their radar and hopefully set off a chain reaction somewhere:)

I also signed it, since it only takes a few seconds, but have the same concerns. I don't think any of the decision-making persons from Amazon will ever be aware of this one.

Maybe we should make a proper petition, with some hype on bitcointalk + reddit reaching 100k should be rather easy.

Getting Redditors involved would be a fine start.  That community is something else, especially when in comes to fundraising, awareness, and whistleblowing.
