I think that what odolvlobo says isn't necessary. Essentially, he told you to include your old address in the message that is signed from your new address.

When you sign a message using an address and decide to post it in this thread, your address becomes a part of your identity. If someone wants to prove that is you, has to provide a signature along with a message that hasn't been signed again. In the case of you wanting to change your address, you'll have to provide a proof that you're indeed you. Including your new address would be optional, because in both cases it'd be enough for us to acknowledge that the proven owner of the old address who also own the account wants to change his identity address.

That's why I find it unnecessary.

This proves without a doubt that the original <user-name> want to use the new signing address.

As I wrote above, signing messages with today's date using both addresses is probably sufficient assuming the post is quoted, but it is not a cryptographic proof, and it is actually more work than what I propose.

Actually, if you feel that simply quoting a post is sufficient protection against changes, then this is sufficient:

If you just put Bitcoin address or PGP key, it is easy to impose another person. A signed message is better.

I signed the old address with yesterday's date, also I signed new address yesterday, I still do not understand what you mean. I am not implying that you are wrong but neither was I wrong, but your post is highly not necessary. If you think you are correcting me, thank you, I appreciate, but that prove is enough I control the two address. I still have two addresses on this forum that I can sign, but like I commented before, I want to use an address generated on Electrum for the staking which I just did. If I did 1 + 1, and you are commenting that doing 2 is the right one, doing 2 is just an alternative because 1 + 1 = 2

Staking an address via signing a message has the sole benefit to show the rest of the world that you know how to sign a message with address.
BTW there are people staking addresses with leaked (or available online) private keys for which I don't see the logic behind it.

Why that?

Isn't it enough to just stake the address? That user stakes an address for the first time. Obviously, the one they'll stake will be the owner's. They don't have to prove anything, their first interaction with this thread speaks by itself.

They'll have to provide a signed message from that address, if they ever want to state something and add a proof they're indeed they and not a compromiser.
