Nice to see that improvement in hashrate, but I think it won't change that ZCash is doomed compared to Ethereum.
actually increasing the hash will not give you anything, because everyone will have his hash increased, only nvidia is screwed on zcash at the moment because of no optimization Just wait until Nvidia optimizations happen (in the pipeline for Optiminer shortly), ZEC will get pummeled. I think it has not much to do with hashing power but with coin trading. Let suppose you build a nonster rig and you use Claymore miner, you will get some great profits for some days, but as the ZCL and Zcash price drops, you will be switching to eth/etc sooner or later, moreover if we take into account the dual mining option. I think the market will give is the chance to switch between currencies, I mean: as the eth difficulty rises you will get fewer coins for the same work, and in the meantime the zec/zcl difficulty wil fall some points. People will drop eth and to move to zec, and on, and on, and on, until both currencies's difficulty is so high that you wil have to upgrade your card. But in all those sceneries the price will play an stellar roll. It's my opinion. Cheers. I think people will keep mining even if they get 0 Profit at the moment. Maybe they believe Zcash will do the same as Bitcoin in a few years.. Mine a few hundred/thousand coins depending on your rig and maybe get rich in 2022 And I hope Amd's new vega gpu in early 2017 will make it profitable for non-chinese-mining farms-non-paying for electricity-people again Upgrading whole farm is quite an investment Upgrading 6 card rig at home is affordable

Is ZEC more profitable than ETH?
For the most part, no.

not anymore, it's way lower, assuming a rig of 1000(6 x 480)sol versus the same rig that do 180MH it's 0.002 worst, conusmption is also higher i guess or on par What bios/settings r u using to get 180MH from your rig? I have low power bios and have 170mh, on this 180mh was unstable. Is all fine on your rig? The question you should be asking is, what is his hash per watt. You can crank up the speed but you exponentially use more power.

Fair enough. You have to remember that Nvidia miners also want their piece of the ZEC pie (and they will get it even if its more expensive to do so). ZEC difficulty will climb drastically in the upcoming days.

Is ZEC more profitable than ETH?
It depends on your cards. If that is the newer cards like the AMD 470/480, it is more profitable to mine the ETH. If that is 7970, it is better to mine ZEC.

But you cannot do too much, that will damage the cards.

I can't speak for the x versions but I have a sapphire nitro 390 (2x 8pin for serious overclocking space) and an asus strix, both seem to hover around 240h/s I don't like the idea of pacing them too hard, since I'd rather have them mine pretty quiet at ~60-65c and prolong their use -25mv and -40mv, 1100 core, nothing extreme. I think the 390x should get around 255h/s the 290x should fetch slightly less from what i've been reading. my guess is the power draw is quite polite but i don't have a wattmeter to verify. probably between 180-230 watts. my guess is with the right power mod bios you can get it lower if you're willing to do your homework.

I run my R9 390 at 950MHz/1250. The hash rate is about 200H/s. So it is very quite and the fan is below 30%.

My full stats of rig with Claymore V7 2050 H/s @ 1450W at wall My best scenario is ZEC price stay between 60-45$ for some months, then be pumped when I have store a nice amount of ZEC

That is about 0.7J/H. I think it is very efficient. For my undervolt under clocked R9 390, that is about 0.85J/H.

But right now, you can find them for 270€ in my country (I got them in july for 330€ with a discount, others selling sites used to sell them at 500+€ at this time). They could have been more efficient with BIOS mod, but I'm okay with the stock settings. I just reduce the power limit to -46% in afterburner and I can achieve 24-25 Mh/s ETH + 600-630 SC Or with ZEC, 220-230 H/s (with low budget CPU), on gaming desktop with only 2 cards to manage, I'm at 240 H/s with the same power restriction.

With the new version 7.0 I'm currently getting 916 and 864 on my rigs but when mining the effective hashrate is the same as it was in version 6.0 if not lower. Could I be getting a false reading from my GPU's or is the miner giving false readings?

So maybe @ the end of the month i start the build with these gains. It's something different than always the rx 480's. Thanks for statics
