It might have peaked at 596, but the sustained speed looks like it's going to be more like 500. I'm ok with 500, especially if they ship out my order within the next week!

I'm more concerned about power at the wall though. KNC seems like its going to be the most power hungry of all the gen 2 ASIC miners.

i guess those guys know their chip. when they announce 576+ then you can bet that they have a reason for doing so.

why should they state 576 an have alot of trouble when everybody would be happy with 500 anyway? doesnt make any sense.

so you can bet it will be 576+

Website already says 550+ for the Jupiter
Yeah but how overclocked is that? Like I keep pointing out the video shows an unacceptable 19.6% HW errors.

I think we have to wait until miners will be delivered to customers to get real numbers, both in terms of hashing rate and power consumption.

edit: with "real numbers" I meant verified by third parties

Orama:

Can the miner be upgraded via USB or only via JTAG?
It's almost midnight in Sweden. Let them go have a beer and I'm sure q&a can wait until tomorrow.

That's true. I'm just glad they've been vindicated.

The moment we've all been waiting for:

Quote
Hi All.
It all began in April and after a very long summer its finally the day we have all been waiting for.
We would like to say that after a very long stint in the factory over the weekend and with great help from our entire engineering team we are finally ready to release the figures you have all been waiting for, Jupiter is of course not a 400 machine it’s much more than that. Watch the video on our youtube site
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFOcI8nK2xI
Thanks for everyone who has made this possible and we look forward to doing business with you all in the future

Let's cool down.. I came here to ruin the fun. Bitfury chips are 55nm and do <0.7 W/Gh. KNCMiner chips are reportedly >1.4W/Gh.

I'm just wondering as I really have no idea, how much would an equivalent miner (in terms of GH/s) from Bitfury cost?

$8000 for 400GH/s October delivery.  With 'pencil mod' you can get over 500GH/s.

Actually with pencil mod / changing R01F resistor, you can get atleast 30% more hashrate from the unit.

If you think KnC is going to have a fully operational ASIC out and shipping in volume by September with those specs, you're almost assuredly bound to be disappointed.

Both Bitfury and KnC are good.  I'm just glad we are one step closer towards killing BFL.

Look we need a beer now, but seriously you would not believe how tight this was. Murphy was a m*therf*cker, more to tell later. As always there's a lot of fine tuning to do when you have a system up and running and you can optimise it, but under time pressure you force out a solution that is good enough. Just enjoying the jelly legs. This has been....pfffff!

Well done you and well done KnC. Have a cool beer and a long sleep tonight - you deserve it. Their chance to rest and look back will have to wait a couple of weeks. Great work.

Congratulations are in order for the KNC/ORSOC team, and thanks to Bitcoinorama for sharing today's nailbiting rush for a hashing result before the "midnight deadline"! :-)

I'm quite confident Marcus will be able to tweak the firmware to where those HW errors are small and insignificant, and I'm pretty sure there is a bit more to come (I'm guessing the theoretical max speed is based on nominal voltage...) :-)

So, once again: Well done, to all involved!

ORAMA!!! Hashrate!!! Pleaseee!!!!!!!

1% of 500GH = 5GH

It's a 28nm Jalapeno.

But that's a 28nm 5Gh/s delivered on 30th September, riiiiiight? Huh

i feel like you are trying to tell us something.....lol

I'm still trying to determine what a hashing video is?!

Is this one?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFOcI8nK2xI

Wish I had bought a Jup ', just to support the comic relief effort. Maybe I'll buy a ticket when they go on tour! Grin

Well, if you purchased today:

Bitfury, 400 GH/s, $8000, delivered in Oct.
KnC, 500 GH/s, $4995, delivered in Nov.

This is somewhere between 1 day and two months difference, based on exact delivery dates. Hard to choose

Well, October-delivery h-boards have been shipping already and they've been delivered today. Yeah, in September.. In September though they're marked as October delivery. Cheesy
