I'm just saying but looking at mining genesis for a Saturn and Jupiter right now speaks volumes concerning profit. Tongue
Genesis knows nothing about what's being released in the next 2 weeks, take it with a grain of salt.

just received KnCMiner newsletter:

All,

We have some very exciting news to share with you all. Over the last few days our teams have relocated to our production facility in Sweden. We have all been working very long hours to make sure everything works as planned. Back in June we started taking pre-orders for ASIC Miners and we have slowly released more details about our specifications. We have taken this approach as we never wanted to disappoint our customers, after all without our customers this would never have been possible.

So it is with great pleasure that we announce another free speed increase to all of our customers. As all of our devices operate with the same chips and boards the speed increase applies to all of our products.
Jupiter has now risen from 400 to over 550. We have a short video for you all to watch on our youtube channel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=JFOcI8nK2xI'

Full production is being ramped up in the next few hours with 3 production lines having 10 stations each dedicated to making it go as smooth as possible.
We would also like to inform you all that we still have Saturn’s and Jupiter’s available for purchase.

For more information on this please visit:

 https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners

Thanks again for all of your support over the last few months and we hope to continue to under promise and over deliver.

I think this is mining speculation forum material, not this thread, but just so you are not disappointed: those 148 MM are applied to the whole month by the calculator (it's like an average diff).

KnC Cole on CoinDesk:

“We have 22 stations manned by assembly experts to make sure we can keep on top of the orders and have the boxes ship as soon as possible.

Our engineers have also been working through the night to tune the power consumption and the latest test indicates that we will have a much better result than 1.4 watts at the wall.”

this makes me more confident to use a 850W PSU for a Jupiter.

Why would you not be confident? 850watt is what they recommended, do you think they don't know what they are talking about?

No it doesn't. 91% difficulty increase/month is too low, 100-120% is a more realistic figure. And KNC miners won't start mining at the current difficulty of 148.8M, perhaps a day or two at most for the early birds. Also once KNC miners start hashing you can expect a very steep difficulty ramp up in the next couple of weeks.

The final hashrate of the Jupiter will be the number of pages on this thread when the first customer posts pics.

If that's true we should buy our miner from Labcoin!

Congrats everyone rooting for KNC.
Can someone give me a TL;DR on the 780 GH/sec rate?  Is it one miner?

Well this was a pretty fun catchup to read this morning. Congrats to the KNC team, this is really exciting. I haven't bought any KNC equipment, I'm just really psyched to see them pull this off. Looks like my 600GH tipoff from 20 pages back was accurate too! Smiley I like when my predictions are accurate lol.

Hashrate is about to double. That makes a 600GH/s miner then as fast (profitable) as a 300GH/s miner now. Fun times!
You should really stop quoting the sockpuppet trolls - Kuroth, Eve, Vigil, Xialia, crumbs....

The number of KNC units sold is huge... huge.. 5 digits huge. It's not unlikely we will see an instantaneous diff change if these things ship out in droves. Double? Who knows, but we're finally entering one of the straightaway upward points on my difficulty prediction chart. To say it would be ongoing would be false, but to doubt the possibility of it drastically increasing/doubling would be a wager I wouldn't place.

These are my numbers for a Jupiter assuming 550GH, no pool fees and 100% uptime. Also original investment of 66BTC PSU+VAT+Shipping (might be less for some), for the next 13 difficulty adjustments (~6 months), assuming you start hashing in 2 days.
In my Spanish excel "," equals "." and dates are in this format "day/month/year"
The % increase per difficulty adjustments I obviously pulled out of my ass, but I think they are consistent with the "several thousand" machines that KNC claim to have already sold, the 500TH friedcat announced for October and bitfurys. I think Hashrate will climb fast to around 3PH and then % increases will slow down, notice how by the beginning of next year we will be aroud 7PH which I think is very plausible.
The break even line is original investment+operating costs.

It looks tight.

I like the visual presentation; I would warn you that you're skewing your results favorably. Factor in a 10% variance for real-life/oh-crap situations and you'll have the most realistic numbers possible. Instead of 550, run it at 495.

And what about the 5V connector.

Should I buy a 230V to 5V DC converter?

This was discussed before. I'd predicted they would use a connector from the PSU since it already provides 5v. In the video, the only cables running from the Jupiter were the PSU power cord and a cat5 cable. I would suspect my theory is correct in that the PSU is providing the 5v--though I'm sure they'll let us know for sure once things ship.

I never believed they would pull it off on such tight timetable, I figured at least a few weeks delays was a given.  Im surprised, and impressed.

Now for the bad news for KnC customers: if KnC can do it, its at least plausible that Hashfast, Bitmine, Cointerra, ActM and what have you, can also do it (yeah, Im skipping BFL). I never thought their timetables where any more credible than KnC's, but thats changed now.  Now look up DnT's spreadsheet with the avalanche of chips coming, and the current ecstasy may not last very long. This could become an even more crazy autumn than I thought possible, and waaay crazier than thegenesisblock suggests.

I wouldn't say it's so much 'bad news' per-sé as it is that by the time these other units ship, KNC owners will have mined the majority of what their systems will mine without loss for its lifetime. It's not as if all these OEMs are shipping at once, it's going to come in waves. My bet is on the bold ones to be seen as the next major players, especially the latter as it has some high-level well-known engineers. I know some folks have some fears, but I suppose we'll see.

the only way to win is to bet on all horses

If all the options produce less Bitcoins than they cost to buy and run, then the only way to win is ... not to play.
