you were referring to the tuning suite, right?

Now I'm intrigued..

Will be pressing refresh from 9AM. Fingers crossed it's not second generation news as right now I don't have a pot to piss in.

Ah...erm ok then.

Well, in that case Marcus is heading down to the factory at 3am this morn to personally oversee the assembly line the entire week your boxes are being made and shipped...

Music to my ears! Thank for the update, My fiancé for one is going to be so pleased that she doesn't have to hear me rambling on about when my miners are coming anymore. Her eyes glaze over at the very mention of Bitcoin at the moment.

I'm ridiculously excited as you can probably tell...

I can't say I am surprised  Grin

Don't get excited folks - November shipping is December shipping for a lot of us  Tongue

Cyper, I have honestly never met anyone as pessimistic as you...

Should I be all excited and positive about the delay  Huh

And btw pessimistic according to the dictionary means "tending to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen" which would be the equivalent of KNC goind under and us getting peanuts.
I'm being realistic, which is "having or showing a sensible and practical idea of what can be achieved or expected."

Getting a free gen2 machine from KNC is not even optimistic. It is unrealistic  Grin

Is there going to be another video like the launch video? I liked that.

So did I, I forced them to record it in one take, as Sam made Marcus record it a million times in June! which is why he was so annoyed on camera.

This time round they almost missed the deadline as they couldn't keep a straight face.

There was another humorous video, but judging by the way the boxes were treated during shipment, it would be in bad taste. Hilarious all the same...

tl;dr: Plug your power supply cables directly into KnC modules to increase system efficiency.

Folks,

I was poking around the inside of a Saturn->Jupiter miner, measuring the 12V supply on the modules themselves.
With a supply voltage of 11.93V at the PSU, I was seeing 11.5V at the modules!

Examining things further, I noticed that the nice quality blue PCIe extension cables KnC supplied are only 20AWG (0.52mm^2).
This plus the resistance at the couplings is wasting a significant amount of power:

Module Power ~150W @ 11.5V = 13.04A (20AWG has rated ampacity of 11A in free air, btw)
Vcable=0.43V
Power loss in cable = 13.04A * 0.43V = ~5.6W

Plugging the PSU cables directly into the modules I measured around 11.85V. So:

150W / 11.85V = 12.66A
Vcable = 0.08V
Power loss in cable = 12.66A * 0.08V = ~1.0W.

So we have a percentage loss of:

100 * 5.6W / (150W + 5.6W) = 3.6% versus
100 * 1.0W / (150W + 1.0W) = 0.6%

When you consider how much a 3% increase in efficiency costs at the PSU level, the recommended course of action is obvious Smiley

If the blue cables are 20AWG do you have an explanation why PSU cables which are 18AWG get warmer, than the blue ones?
How did you establish they are 20AWG? Mine has no writing on them.

The writing is embossed, and hard to read; I'll try to get a photo of mine. PSU cables may be warmer due to several factors:

- Airflow in case around blue wires (just a few watts per cable means very easy to cool w/ tiny airflow)
- Conduction of heat from PSU components along wire
- ?

I think that the extra plug junction is just as big a factor as the thin wires, however - my plugs at the PSU/Blue Cable interface were noticeably warm even after deox.

There has been no delay from what I've seen I've only ever known Marcus state production commences mid November and he's the guy in charge of production. Fact is PCBs were finalised and being produced at the time you were here which is mid Nov, fingers x'd you get your kit this week.

I've only ever said production commences mid-November.
