Cool, I didn't know just-dice ran a bitcoin exchange or ATM.. i thought it was just a gambling site
You guys should be ashamed that you were hiding bitcoin exchanges and ATMs behind a gambling site. That's playing with fire. We weren't. Bitcoin dealing, more specifically referred to as “dealing in virtual currencies” in Bill C-31, will be subject to the record keeping, verification procedures, suspicious transaction reporting and registration requirements
Does not define “dealing in virtual currencies” - The phrase “dealing in virtual currencies” was left undefined and it is not known what the defined term will encompass in terms of business activities once defined by regulation. Does Just-Dice "deal in virtual currency"? Since the new law doesn't define what that means, I'm erring on the side of caution.

Thanks for your patience, and sorry again that I have to do this, but I don't want to risk having your coins confiscated for "money laundering" now that Canada appears to have decided that Bitcoin is money after all.
Well done! I'm just wondering why didn't you just hit the "send them to the emergency withdrawal address" button, instead?

You guys should be ashamed that you were hiding bitcoin exchanges and ATMs behind a gambling site. That's playing with fire. Do you think some prosecutors are going to know the difference between an exchange and a wallet? If they don't even know how to make a Skype call how do you think they will know what a "hash" is? Would you put your freedom on the line for some judge to try to understand what a client/server seed is? Thanks for your patience, and sorry again that I have to do this, but I don't want to risk having your coins confiscated for "money laundering" now that Canada appears to have decided that Bitcoin is money after all.

It feels like dooglus is just confused. The government is concerned about exchanges where a CAD/BTC exchange would be involved. They didn't stab their flag into Bitcoin and say "WE DECLARE THIS MONEY AFTER ALL!". The ones getting effected the most by this would be localbitcoins.com and canadianbitcoins.com (they send cash in the mail, lol) and of course ATMs. Anything that is an isolated business within Bitcoin and has nothing to do with CAD (Canadian Dollars) would not be affected by this bill.

Is your emergency withdrawal address up to date? How mad would you be if you put an old address you don't have anymore in there? Of course it is, I would be pretty stupid otherwise. What if there was an actual emergency, where he couldn't just wait for the people to calmly withdraw?

But shouldn't it be irrelevant as long as the website isn't actually hosted on a Canadian server?

What if there was an actual emergency, where he couldn't just wait for the people to calmly withdraw? Then he will have to go with the emergency withdrawal addresses. Thankfully he didn't have to get there. After about a week if someone still didn't withdraw their coins, he will have to start investigating where to send the rest of the coins.

i think so too, and i think just-dice is very cautious (overly maybe) but on the other hand i do agree with the "better safe than sorry" approach. Let's just wait this one out and when dust settles things can hopefully return to business again.

Site is good enough to trust them, but be carefull what you write on chat-box. I got banned for 1 hour by site owner (Dooglus) for asking if someone has bitcointalk forum account to sell (i guess chat-box is there only for dooglus-ass-lickers and mods in general). And i wagered 140+ BTC till that moment on that site and have been very active there for 1 month. Now i'm gonne, no more bets from my side.
I have never banned anyone for asking to buy a forum account. I'm not sure why you're saying I did. I've never banned anyone for being critical of the site either. I often argue with people who have views opposed to mine, and never mute them for disagreeing with me. I do mute obvious scammers and people who are just spamming the chat with junk or advertisements. If you just keep saying "the site is rigged" but aren't willing to expand on your reasoning then I'll mute you too. I don't think any of that is unreasonable. If you tell me what account you were on I can look at the logs and see what happened if you like. It may be that one of the chat moderators muted you without a good reason. I'd like to look into it. I will keep myself uncovered, but if you were a bit more interested in finding out you would allready figure it out, but as i said, you give no fuck about your players, and that includes having mods that dont give a fuck about players (they are just doing by the orders you give them).

Muted for 60 seconds might be a joke. It's not the first time i have seen someone being muted/kicked as a joke (on other chatrooms, not on just-dice).

Sorry the Canada ruling, which I would have thought would be a good thing for bitcoin, has forced you to suspend action on just dice and doge dice. However, I think that is exactly the right call, you've gone above and beyond to be clear with investors and players and I'm inclined to trust your judgement in this case. I hope you get the servers moved to a place you can operate confidently and maybe even the "play coin" site will be fun.
Good Luck!

Better safe than sorry it seems. The sums of money involved here are huge, and all credit to doog taking the cautious approach. Once the dust settles and things turn out not to be as bad as first thought I'm sure people will re-invest and betting will resume.
Same I appreciate the caution and am glad my coins are returned safely and not seized my trust is well placed I hope the legal dust settles and re-investing and betting will resume sooner than later Back to the vault for now

The myth that where your servers are has fuck all to do with how your business is regulated by your home country needs to die. Server location is not relevant in any way.
