I think it is not about the difficulty. What is your settings?
I don't experience any freezes when mining on Liteguardian with the same settings, but difficulty 128. On Middlecoin, it's guaranteed crash/freeze within minutes EVER SINCE THE DIFFICULTY CHANGED to these high numbers.

Does your system crash when difficulty is at 512?

Yeah, you must be doing something wrong.

Can't imagine any possible reason why difficulty would have an effect on the stability of your PC.

Difficulty could be 1 or 10,000 and your GPUs and PC will still be doing the exact same amount of work.

How the hell am I supposed to know? Maybe if h2o changed it I'd have the possibility to test it.

I can't either, but I am just telling you what's happening here.
Besides, I don't even understand how it works. In cgminer's window, there are like 500 different difficulties showing at the same time.

No idea whats going on but blaming somebody else? Great attitude Cheesy

You do realize how silly you sound here right?

You expect the pool operator to change the difficulty on his pool just so you can test something that everyone can guarantee you is not causing your system to crash?

Difficulty only changes what hashes submitted will be counted as shares, nothing else.

Difficult goes from 512 to 1024, you get half as many shares with each share being worth about twice as much. Payouts drop a little as time spent on rejected shares is longer but overall the difference is maybe 1-2% MAYBE

No I don't, and I did not say anything like that. Read my post again. Of cource chances are you simply misunderstood because you're not native english speaker like me.

Didn't say ANYTHING like that... sure... ur native enrish is vurry g00d

Yeah... sounds like you are just another idiot on this pool that thinks he knows more than he does.

Just go mine on a lower difficulty pool since you can't get it to work.  Stop blaming other people for your own ignorance.

Ah now the good old insults, eh?
Think I finally understand why h2o completely stopped visiting this thread. Bye.

Yeah, it's because of all of the ignorant people like yourself that think changing the difficulty will solve whatever problems they are having.

Learn what difficulty is before complaining about it, dummy.

From https://www.litecoinpool.org/help

Quote
What is the share difficulty?
The share difficulty is a number that gives an indication of how difficult it is to find a share. The lower this number, the more shares a miner will find at a given speed, and the lower their value. For this reason, the share difficulty does not affect miners' expected earnings.

Quote
How does share difficulty influence my earnings?
    Short answer: it doesn't.
Long answer: a higher/lower share difficulty does not mean you will be earning more/less, because your expected earnings are independent of the share difficulty: they only depend on your hash rate and on the network difficulty. A higher share difficulty can only increase the variance, but not in a significant way.

Could you please share with us your mouse settings ?

Maybe you should go to a VARDIFF pool to get more clicks out of it.

Sometimes my mouse does not click fast enough but i am sure i have a second mouse ready so i can go to a forum and complain about it.
