Can CfB/JLP comment on VPS requirements for the new 0.5.3 code? If a hallmarked VPS with say, 30M on the account was running, how much mem would it need? (not my hallmark, BTW, Im hosting someones hallmark for them)
NCC-1701-D is running on 8 GB VPS, with -Xmx6144M, and java is currently using 3065M. On another server I have java is currently using 2124M. I am going to run some memory profiling again soon to see what is taking how much space and if there is any room for improvement before switching to storing blocks and transactions in a database, which would be a significant change.

Most importantly, there is no evidence in the above case of a random, memory corruption type of bug, as some have feared. Adding checksums as a way to prevent user errors is a different issue, but there has been no memory corruption at play here.
Agree. Good to hear, thanks!

Why so much? Am I missing something? Why on my PC it only takes 200 M?

All of mine (except node1) are running on 1GB. With this release, for the first time, after I removed *.nxt and disabled my hourly restart, all 100 are in sync or very close (knock on wood!). I have no idea how long it will last, but it feels good.

Brainstorming
I'd like to introduce a concept of a new feature called Account Control. This feature will allow to do different things with ur accounts. For example, u will be able to set a lock on an account to prohibit any outgoing transactions until a special condition met (e.g. an incoming transaction from a predefined account). Another example is Pooled Forging, when an account leases its forging power to another account.
Please, post here what u would like to see in Account Control.
Not only fully restriction, but limit too. Restriction must have, limitation can wait though~ What about recipient of forging power? It'll automatically divide reward between pool's forgers? I suppose even if it'll be fully automatical recipient'd have possibility to setup some fee to cover 24/7-running, wide bandwith and optimal managing of JVM.

Guys, will the decentralized exchange be able to support sports betting? How would this work? Is a third party needed? Could he be in stealth mode? Arbitrary Messages can be used for sports betting. Both, the bettor and the service provider, can be in stealth mode (via Tor, for example). How does one become a service provider?

Others use other app to see this info and place bets. U pay winnings when the time comes.

Yay! Are there any other sites that need SSL certificates? I can donate some NXT to help getting them if people need.

NXT VPS Server Donations can be sent here: 6044921191674841550At the end of each month I will donate some of them back to the community. This is separate from my main wallet so you can keep track of them. I will keep them in there and only use them for hosting.

Google is centralized.
Well, there has to be a solution. Would voting system help? Several users will vote an alias down... Actually, maybe a full-blown alias rating? For scammers, who don't trade honestly and stuff like that? Something like a democratic Google Page Rank It's still a center. Just another form. With construction of representative hirarchy (lazy coins and active ones) we can get exactly in "Google" scenario. I suposse it's not an option. Winners of any voting just get bigger than losers (winners'll decide and losers'll shut up). In decantralized network IMO there could not be winners or losers. Each peer, each coin are equivalent in real power (there's no more powerful peer than others, there's no more powerful coins than others) with some restrictions by opensourced protocol that real people agreed too: like locked coins or penalty for non-forging.

2 things
1: from my home computer, I don't see a box to enter a passphrase when sending nxt, so I always get wrong passphrase error when sending...
2. If I want to make an account on an offline computer, what stops someone from colliding the account? if an account is the last 15 digits of a long public key ( as i currently understand it...) and I make an account on an offline computer that ends with key 12345 and send it to that account, what stops someone from making an account that ends with 12345 that has a different passphrase, and stealing my nxt?
