Mon. May 28, 2018 5:00 PM - T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV Vegas Golden Knight (63-26-5-3) at Washington Capitals (61-31-8-1), Game 1, Series tied 0-0 The Capitals are yet to win a competitive game against the Golden Knights, being shut out in Las Vegas with a score of 3-0 in December before losing 4-3 in Washington some six weeks later. Ovechkin & Co., though, have been in deadly form lately, posting two consecutive shutouts in their very last two fixtures, while also impressing on the road like no other team during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Caps have gone 8-2 away from home this postseason and have notched 13 road victories in their last 16 travels to see off teams with a home winning percentage above the .600 mark. As good as the Knights have been on own ice lately (15 wins in the last 16 meetings versus sides with a winning road record), the confidence and determination Washington has at the moment, fueled by Alex Ovechkin’s more than apparent drive to get his hands on his first Stanley Cup, will definitely be a problem for the hosts in Game 1.

Mon. May 28, 2018 8:00 PM - Toyota Center - TX, Houston, TX Houston Rockets (65-17, 34-7 Home) at Golden State Warriors (58-24, 29-12 Away), Game 7, Series tied 3-3 So much of this contest is going to come down to how Houston responds after getting destroyed in the second half of Game 6. They seemed to have the Warriors on the ropes in the opening quarter as they were bombing away from the perimeter and making like miserable. Unfortunately, Houston completely fell apart after the opening quarter as they were doomed by terrible turnovers like backcourt violations, passes that went way out of bounds, losing control of their dribble and offensive fouls. If Paul can even go, he’s going to be limited. The Warriors have been here before while the Rockets haven’t: that might be the difference as Golden State gets the upper hand.

Tue. May 29, 2018 7:05 PM - Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY New York Yankees (33-17, 20-9 Home) at Houston Astros (35-20, 19-9 Away) Two of the top teams in the American League should provide plenty of excitement for the fans. Morton has really rejuvenated his career over the last season or two with the Astros as he had floundered in previous seasons after leaving Atlanta. He’s striking out guys at a much higher clip than in his early years and one has to wonder what is the root cause of that. Sabathia started the season strong but has struggled of late and was roughed up by a bad Texas team in his last start, failing to get out of the fifth inning. Look for the Astros to take advantage of his struggles and pick up the win in this contest.

Wed. May 30, 2018 5:00 PM - T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV Vegas Golden Knight (63-26-5-3) at Washington Capitals (61-31-8-1), Game 2, VGK leads 1-0 Although being outshot 34-28 by the Golden Knights, the Capitals still had plenty of chances to grind out a positive result in Game 1 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. Two separate leads and a golden chance to tie the game with seconds remaining? Not bad against a team, which has lost just one of its last 17 home outings against sides with a winning road record. Still, Washington’s best bet to grab a win away in Vegas was always going to be in Game 1. With the Knights now aware of how aggressive the Caps are approaching the Final and, most definitely, expecting them to step up a gear in the following fixture, it is very unlikely the hosts will drop their own urgency levels. Truth be told, the Knights are quite likely to play even better in Game 2.

Wed. May 30, 2018 6:40 PM - Coors Field, Denver, CO Colorado Rockies (30-25, 11-12 Home) at San Francisco Giants (25-30, 11-20 Away) The Colorado Rockies are atop the division and while they have Jon Gray on the mound for this one (he has struggled), we also note that the Giants will be sending out Derek Holland and he has gone just 2-6 with a 4.73 ERA on the year, including 1-4 with a 4.09 ERA on the road. The Rockies have struggled at home and on offense, but that offense may be coming around and this team usually always hits well at him. They should have a field day against Holland in the one. As I stated, Gray has struggled this year, but he is taking on an offense that has averaged just 3.23 rpg on the road. He will not shut them down completely, but enough to get the win.

Thu. May 31, 2018 6:00 PM - ORACLE Arena, Oakland, CA Golden State Warriors (58-24, 29-12 Home) at Cleveland Cavaliers (50-32, 21-20 Away), Game 1, Series tied 0-0 After what can only be deciphered as an inconsistent postseason all around, we’re ready to kick off the NBA Finals out west. The fourth-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, champions of the Eastern Conference, are on the road to face the second-seeded Golden State Warriors, champs of the West, in Game 1 on Thursday night. Cleveland advanced by winning an ugly Game 7 87-79 on the road in Boston Sunday night. Golden State erased a double-digit deficit for the second straight game as they knocked off Houston 111-102 on the road in Game 7 Monday night. The Warriors own a 59-52 edge in the all-time regular season series and have won three straight meetings, including both this season. In the playoffs, the Warriors have won two of the three previous series between the teams and hold an 11-7 edge in head to head playoff wins.

Thu. May 31, 2018 7:10 PM - Safeco Field, Seattle, WA Seattle Mariners (33-22, 16-12 Home) at Texas Rangers (24-34, 13-15 Away) The Rangers and Mariners close out a four game series in Seattle on Thursday. These long time rivals are on opposite sides of the AL West standings this year as Texas is just 23-34 and 12.5 games out first place. The Mariners are exceeding expectations and are currently 33-21 and just one game out of the first place lead of the Houston Astros. The loss of Robinson Cano only has the Mariners playing better. The Mariners won the first game of the series, 2-1 on Monday, but the Rangers responded with a 9-5 win on Tuesday behind a big three run double by Roughned Odor. These are big games for the Mariners as they try and keep touch with the Astros who are destined to go on a big run sometime this summer.

Sat. Jun 2, 2018 8:00 PM - Capital One Arena, Washington, DC Washington Capitals (61-31-8-1) at Vegas Golden Knight (63-26-5-3), Game 3, Series tied 1-1 The Golden Knights have won six of their past eight road contests and have been deadly away from home for the whole season. Still, the Capitals have hardly stepped off the gas since Game 6 of their Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning. They were aggressive and bold in the first outing of their Stanley Cup Finals matchup versus Vegas and were not much worse in Game 2. The Caps have struggled on own ice this postseason (4-5), but will be going back to D.C. with tons of confidence and determination. They have also done well in games played after breaks of a couple of days, while the Golden Knights have won just one of their past five outings in such circumstances.

Mon. Jun 4, 2018 7:10 PM - AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA San Francisco Giants (29-30, 17-10 Home) at Arizona Diamondbacks (31-27, 12-14 Away) The Giants got the upper hand on a Phillies team that has been very good this season, sooner than expected. Arizona is trying to get back on track after a miserable stretch that took them from 24-11 to 26-26 before this past week’s worth of games. The Diamondbacks have had success against the Giants this season and Godley earned a win in this park back in April, outdueling Holland. With San Francisco’s offense still questionable at best, look for Arizona to come up with the win in the opener.

Mon. Jun 4, 2018 8:00 PM - Capital One Arena, Washington, DC Washington Capitals (61-31-8-1) at Vegas Golden Knights (63-26-5-3), Game 4, Capitals lead 2-1 Although the Golden Knights have outshot the Capitals 95-80 so far in the ongoing Stanley Cup Final, the Caps have seemed the better team in each of the previous three meetings. Buoyed by captain Alex Ovechkin, whose body language definitely gives away his eagerness to put his hands on the Stanley Cup, Washington looks like a team on a mission. It hasn’t done that well on own ice this postseason overall (5-5), but has managed to win its last two domestic fixtures, outscoring its opponents 6-1. Another solid showing is definitely on the cards here against Vegas, which has just not been able to switch on the higher gear it obviously needs to overcome the Capitals in this series.

Tuesday, 05 June 2018 20:00 - VTB Arena, Moscow, Russia It should be all positive thoughts ahead of hosting a World Cup, but all too often we find that being the host side is just too much for players and managers alike. Especially if the team isn't at the very top. Russia certainly are not, and the way they have been playing lately is going to have them very nervous once the World Cup begins if they cannot turn it around. This is their final friendly before kicking off against Saudi Arabia, but you just can't see Turkey losing here.

Wednesday, 6 June 2018, 12:00|French Open Women's Singles, Paris, France Garbine Muguruza will be searching for her first victory over Maria Sharapova when the pair meet in a blockbuster quarter-final clash at Roland Garros on Wednesday. Muguruza and Sharapova both enter this clash in ominous form, both are fresh after not having to complete a fourth round match. This is an exciting battle between two former champions in Paris, who will rise to the occasion and claim victory here? Muguruza has waltzed into the quarter-finals in Paris without dropping a set. The Spaniard powered through the opening week with straight set wins over Svetlana Kuznetsova, Fiona Ferro and Samantha Stosur. Muguruza’s fourth round match lasted just 2 games before Lesia Tsurenko retired injured. Roland Garros is easily Muguruza’s most successful tournament, the 2016 champion is certainly now one of the main contenders in 2018. Maria Sharapova is back into the quarter-finals in Paris for the first time since winning the tournament in 2014. Sharapova is a 2-time former champion in Paris, surprisingly Roland Garros is her most successful Grand Slam and suddenly she looms as a genuine contender to win a third title. Sharapova moved through the first week with a 3 set win over Richel Hogenkamp before improving her level to claim straight set wins over Donna Vekic and Karolina Pliskova. Sharapova was scheduled to meet Serena Williams in the fourth round but was handed a walkover into the next round.

Wednesday, 6 June 2018, 4:00 PM - Rudolf Tonn Stadion, Schwechat, Austria After getting hammered by the Australia in their last game, the Czech Republic are not going to be looking forward to this match. Nigeria are a much more dynamic, free-flowing side, so if the Aussies can tear them apart, then so too can the Super Eagles. While the Czechs are not likely to be so porous in defence in this match, they still look to be big outsiders when it comes to the result of this match. Nigeria prepare with a nice, fairly comfy win.

Wed. Jun 6, 2018 9:00 PM - Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH Golden State Warriors (58-24, 29-12 Home) at Cleveland Cavaliers (50-32, 21-20 Away), Game 3, GS leads 2-0 The Cavaliers are at a crossroads here and they know it. A win here makes it a 2-1 series and gives them a chance to tie it up Friday night before the series shifts back west. A loss puts them in the deepest of holes, one of which no NBA team has ever climbed all the way back from. Cleveland faced a similar situation against Boston in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals and responded with a blowout win to energize themselves. Don’t expect a one-sided contest here but it’s hard to go against James at home, where the Cavaliers have reeled off eight straight wins. Take the points and Cleveland here as they make it a 2-1 series.

Thu. Jun 7, 2018 5:00 PM - T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV Washington Capitals (61-31-8-1) at Vegas Golden Knights (63-26-5-3), Game 5, Capitals lead 3-1 No team, apart from the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942, has managed to overturn a 3-1 series deficit in the Stanley Cup Final. And the Golden Knights definitely face an uphill struggle to dig themselves out of the hole. The previous outing, though, should work as a wake-up call. Vegas had a 71-41 edge over Washington in total shot attempts and is likely to regroup for Game 5. Having won 16 of their past 18 home outings versus sides with a winning road record, the Knights are a very decent pick in this one.

Jun 7, 2018 7:10 PM - Tropicana Field, Saint Petersburg, FL Tampa Bay Devil Rays (28-32, 11-13 Home) at Seattle Mariners (38-23, 18-11 Away) The Mariners are in Tampa Bay to take on the Rays on Thursday night, in the opening game of a four game series. Neither team got off to a great start, but both have been playing well for the last month, although June hasn’t been as good as May for the Rays. They have lost six straight games to drop to 28-32, but it’s actually even more amazing that they were able to climb above .500 after their horrid start.
