In 2017 when ICOs were popping up day after day, investors only had a limited amount to invest in projects. Many of them were scams therefore if you were fooled once, you would not want to invest again no matter how lucrative the project appeared. Binance was obviously one of the those rare success stories but countless others failed.

As with many of these types of investments, you have to be in the right place at the right time otherwise the opportunity passes you by. That 2017 ICO era is over, I doubt we will see anything like that again.

I didn't know Binance was an ICO. I see was in 2017 and with BNB tokens sold at $0.15 each. I entered some ICOs that year and I missed the jackpot.

Thank God ...

It is over and NEVER again.

As much as I despise Regulatory interference, it is the prosecutions that happened after all the ICO rush that stopped things like that in its tracks. Though in saying that, now We have VERY Sophisticated Scams going on. But few and far between in the public eye now. The Public scams are simply aimed at those that have always had a leniency to be scammed.

#crysx #cwi
But I have the feeling that regulation has put an end to legitimate ICOs, while scam projects and memecoins continue on their path using very similar systems: launchers, etc. I don't fully understand the nuances, but I do miss serious projects. Will it be possible for regulatory guarantees to emerge that allow for a restart of such initiatives? I read about some drafts for new DAO regulations.

I believe so ...

The regulatory boundaries of these forms of Funding will be along the lines of the current 'FIAT Based' IPO/ICO practices if they get their way.

Again though - Regulation does NOT ensure anything except Government/Banking Control over these things - so I agree with You in the sense that 'Real' IPO/ICO could be held back because of such Regulations.

We will all see what happens since it is all unfolding before Us and in the Public arena.

Let's hope the Regulatory departments have sense this time around (which looks like it will - SEC I am pointing at You) rather than have the closed Illegal rulings they had when that imbecile was running (ie - ruining) the place.

Charles Hoskinson Says Ethereum May Not Survive the Next Decade

“I don’t think Ethereum will survive more than 10 years to 15 years. The layer 2s will continue to suckle out all of the alpha,“ stated Hoskinson. “People will start fighting and it’ll get harder and harder for Vitalik to be able to hold it together through sheer force of will.”

Announcing the Trillion Dollar Security Initiative
Posted by Ethereum Foundation Team on May 14, 2025

"Ethereum is the most secure blockchain ecosystem. This is the result of 10 years of progress and iteration across every level of Ethereum’s technology stack, from wallet UX to developer tooling to consensus protocol security.

But being the most secure platform in the crypto ecosystem isn’t enough. Ethereum’s ambition is far greater: to be civilization-scale infrastructure that securely underpins the internet and global economy, surpassing the safety and trustworthiness of the world’s legacy systems.

Today we are announcing the Trillion Dollar Security initiative, an ecosystem-wide effort to upgrade Ethereum’s security to help bring the world onchain.

Reaching “Trillion Dollar security” means a world where:

Billions of individuals are each comfortable storing more than $1000 onchain, collectively amounting to trillions of dollars secured on Ethereum.
Companies, institutions or governments are comfortable storing more than 1 trillion dollars of value inside a single contract or application."

A local-node-favoring delta to the scaling roadmap
Special thanks to Micah Zoltu, Toni Wahrstätter, Justin Traglia and pcaversaccio for discussion

The most common criticism of increasing the L1 gas limit, beyond concerns about network safety, is that it makes it harder to run a full node.

Especially in the context of a roadmap focused on unbundling the full node, addressing this requires an understanding of what full nodes are for.

Historically, the thinking has been that full nodes are for validating the chain; see here for my own exposition of what could happen if regular users cannot verify. If this is the only issue, then L1 scaling is unlocked by ZK-EVMs: the only limit is keeping the block building and proving costs low enough that both can remain 1-of-n censorship-resistant and a competitive market.

However, in reality this is not actually the sole concern. The other major concern is: it’s valuable to have a full node so that you can have a local RPC server that you can use to read the chain in a trustless, censorship-resistant and privacy-friendly way. This document will discuss adjustments to the current L1 scaling roadmap that make this happen.

I think there is a more major with ETH. It is being made more complex, and they are even congratulating each other on this. There are too many L2s. Each added bridge is not a milestone that was achieved, but a complexity that makes using it harder. Last time I was helping someone new with ETH, they were so confused by all of this that they had to completely give up.

They need to focus on scaling L1 instead and getting rid of so many L2s. I think L2s as specialized or private networks are good, but not like this. Imagine you have the withdraw option to select withdraw ETH and then you need to select 1 network out of 100 options. It is terrible.

Mate, haven't you been working on chainworks industries for years? What do you have to show for it? As far as I am concerned, you're a scammer.
So many people have been waiting, so many developers have been run though, yet the project is still barely off the ground.
With the advent of ai I would assume development would be easier. I still don't have faith though. I think chainwork industries is done.
so sad I put a total of 1 btc into two separate cwi coins. At least I have this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_dLx_J2oVs

Lean Ethereum was revealed as a vision for the next 10 years on the 10 anniversary of Ethereum. These updates will be huge for the Ethereum. The upgrade is not limited to the main layer but it will be across all three Level 1 Sub layers. The goal for this update is to increase the performance of the blockchain and at the same time maintain simplicity.

Technically speaking, currently we have the consensus layer, data layer, execution layer and these shall be upgraded to beacon chain, blobs and EVM. I am not sure when exactly all these proposed chains will be integrated and upgraded.

As long as this blockchain has many L2s, all other main competitors remain superior to it. You can't have many layers and simplicity, these two don't go together. You are eagerly excited, but the updated to ETH are severely lacking.

Can you explain who the competitors of ETH that are superior to it ? Don't think SOL is anywhere near the ETH blockchain as SOL is more sort of a centralized blockchain and that is why you see and get attracted to its low fee. The more decentralized the blockchain, its fee will be higher and they are constantly making upgrades to get it fixed, though they are not entirely successful in it.

No matter what others may think of ETH, I do see its future to be very bright. Also, do not see the current prices of Eth, even if it reaches 5000$, it is quite undervalued.

Well if you hodl Ethererum you did make alot of gains in this week. 1 Ethereum is now $4178 and it is up more then 18 percent in the last week.
It did break a 45 month pattern. It did also have 1 year high for daily transactions. It was between 1.74 Million and 1.88 Million a day in this month.

Fees and decentralization have nothing to do with each other. The fees on the lightning network are much lower than on ETH and it is much more decentralized both than ETH and all its L2s. All the newer generation blockchains are superior than Ethereum for the same thing that it does. Did you know that there are many chains where there is no MEV? Chains where you can't be drained at all? Many other things exist out there. ETH is a dangerous and old shitcoin.

ETH ALL TIME HIGH

Finally the time has come for which we were waiting, ETH reaches its all time high.  Smiley

It's wasn't easy at all. It has been all the way the bitcoin cycle and all the gains were in bitcoin only. Ethereum dumped to under 2000$ few months back and many people lost hopes on Ethereum but today ETH creates history by printing its another all time high.

This is my view on $ETH.
if all goes well, we'll see another ATH. for now, I'm just trying to leverage this Bitget offer for eth and expand my portfolio. You can earn up to 1 ETH.. get 50% off on eth purchase

I still can't fully trust Ether's performance despite its recent highs. I'll be sure follow ethereum for the next period to maintain this performance growth to prove that the current price movement isn't the product of a few whales' actions to manipulate the market. I say this because i know the eth network still suffer from scalability problems and lack of major updates, which open the door to other competitive networks to take parts from the eth portion in the market. Some still believe that eth is still alive just because some chain networks that are developed in top of it. While few others believe in the Vitalik abilities to sustain the network.

It is a shitcoin for the gullible that only has first mover advantage. Its technology stack is trash, it does not scale well and it is complicated with stupid L2s that serve no purpose other than to enrich the founders at the expense of retail. As you can see, there are very few people who believe or interact with Ethereum here. They mostly keep the people suckered in through channels where you are not allowed to be as critical of it. I have never heard one smart person tell me good things about Ethereum. Whenever I met other crypto people, all I could hear about it was bad stuff.

Its price performance is terrible. Always look at the ETH/BTC chart, not the USD chart.

I started stop believe in Ethereum long time ago since years, although i don't think it's a shitcoin. No it's not by all means. You can either compare Ethereum to other major cryptocurrencies to see that there is already real use cases for EVM to create and lunch smart contracts at top of the blockchain and Eth is the network token used to perform actions within. Or just see how well eth is doing in the trading market considering how big is its marketcap and how many holders and miners nodes.

Ethereum is not to be fully trusted for various reasons. Centralized policies and lack of major updates are big red flags, however it's not fair or correct to call it a shitcoin.
