What happened to the price of ECC?
Feeling like a bag holder now  

It was very obvious that the price of ECC would go up, so it went down. Anyone familiar with markets, such as stock markets, would not be surprised by this.

Important rule of thumb:

If too many people know that something will happen, then it will not happen.

It is important to understand this.

This happens over and over again in the stock market.

The reason the rule works: When it is obvious that something will happen, people try to profit from it. By doing that, they prevent it.

In ECC's case. It was too obvious that the price of ECC would go up when the PoW phase ended, so it went down. (Look back at the posts in this thread and see how obvious it was too many people. ) People planned to accumulate their during the PoW phase, but not later. May planned to sell ECC for a quick profit as soon as the PoW phase ended. So when the Pow phase ended, many people stopped buying and the demand went down. Many people tried to sell, so the supply went up. Low demand and high supply caused the price to go down. Now there are many people holding ECC who didn't really want to keep it. They thought they could sell it for a profit, but they can't, so they don't know what to do. Some will sell for a loss so they can try to make money some other way. Some will hold out to break even, but they might have to wait a long time. Some people who thought they might hold onto ECC will become depressed by the low price decide it was a mistake and sell. It will take a long time for ECC to overcome this selling pressure.

I am waiting for the time when it becomes obvious that ECC is doomed and the price will never go back up, because then it will.

I have made a lot in the Cryptomarkets by following this rule.  Watch out for 'dying' coins and despair (people are so impatient and watch prices every day), check if real projects are ongoing, and act accordingly !

For every XX,XXX amount of ECC donated, we can plant one tree.

Make coins available to see in a public address so everyone knows where the funds are.

the good thing is anyone can organize it, i can do support it by donating ECC and putting in front of people. At least i can do it alone, i know near place but still investigating the best tree for this climate which needs less water. So i buy some trees, put them car, go to nice place, i handle all these at one picnic. :-)

I can get the ball rolling on this... What do you think would be the best way to implement though? I only want to put time and effort into this if we can get the community behind me.

There are two ways that come to mind right away....

1) Start the public fund, try to raise maybe 1 BTC in ECC to cover initial set up and hosting of website, first production batch of ECC t-shirts (10 or so), finding plot of land with owner willing to allow bunches of tree to be planted (I have an idea of one so shouldn't be hard), and of course the cost of all the trees. Wallet address listed publically.

                          ------Website setup ($150-$200) and hosting (~$5/mo) cost is minimal but just time consuming.
                          ------I am thinking the custom t-shirts may be $20 a piece? so $200 there, and of course get the trees to plant.
                          ------I was thinking an easy way to get the trees would be to join the Arbor Day Foundation. Its about $15 to get a membership (which includes 10 free trees that are a good match for the area) and discounts on additional tree purchases.

                                                            So this method im thinking would be about 1 BTC to start since they are sitting around $450 now anyways.

2) Per Donation Basis If we cannot get the support for option 1 we can do a "per donation basis" were a whole website and everything wont be set up... just a "ECC for the Trees Project" wallet that will be listed publically and I can post a page on one of the current websites I operate to show the donors and amounts given. Absolute worse case scenario if we do not get enough donors I may be able to come out of pocket for the incentive merchandise but I would like to make it a full community funded project if possible.


Let me know what you think and I will start working (or not working) on it today when I get off the regular 8-5.

and i think the first official planting should be free.. no donations.. most of them will consider it as begging...
if the first time is a success then the second one will be more believable, to be able to send some donation..
